Grand Theft Auto V PC System Requirement Thread

I personally think the requirements will be closer to Watch Dogs then they are to Max Payne 3. Remember MP3 isn't an OWG.

I wonder if GTAV will be DX11 only or if they still support DX9.

I wonder if PC version will be on DVD or Blu Ray?

DVD, 100% of new games for PC come out in DVD's.

Most likely will be Steam, so no DVD nor Blu Ray :p

That "last-gen" toggle mode in the build logs seems to suggest a possible DX9 option for people with lower end rigs.

I hope It's true. It'll make the appeal much wider for all PC gamers. Hopefully means more sales and better reception. As long as the optimization is as good as Max Payne 3. Even though that game isn't an OWG, the advancements in the RAGE engine are very evident, how well it performs on PC. Pretty damn good.

There will be boxed Steam-less version which uses RGSC.

If it's a half-decent port and you can max or play Watch Dogs on high, then you can probably max V.

If R* actually optimise it somewhat.

System requirements should be low if they allow for 360/PS3 graphics settings, which would run better than GTA IV.

If I can change my laptop's GPU...

I'm stuck with i7 2ghz and a f*cking Intel HD 4000

f*ck me, can't even play Max Payne 3 on high.

I don't know really. Rockstar isn't being too specific about this one. Since at the end of the trailer, you see PC Software logo instead of PC DVD Software logo. I don't know if Rockstar decided to go fully digital on their PC releases starting with this.

I'm pretty sure this will be a CPU intensive game. Those are too many NPCs and cars to control...

I hope that R* does not use NVIDIA Gameworks. If so AMD GPU owners will have problems to run the game properly.

Both PS4 and Xbox One use AMD chip, so there is no point for them to use NV Gameworks.

Watch_Dogs? NV Gameworks is for PC.

I'm thinking about building a PC for GTA V, how much will it cost to build a computer that can run GTA V to start with?

I created a PC that will possibly be enough for high-max/ultra graphics: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PmbLwP

So anything between 690 to 800 will work.

Judging by the amount of density and traffic I can easily say that the game won't support 2 GB RAM. It's going to be in the middle of Max Payne 3's and Watch Dogs' requirements for me.

That's sad :(

R* did a pretty good job getting the game to run fairly smooth on 360 and PS3 and those aren't powerhouse consoles either. If my PC can run it with better or console quality graphics, I'll be happy. It will be worth the upgrade if I need to upgrade.

Minimum requirements for ultra high settings, ICEnhancer, Realistic roads, cars, and ultra high textures, Next Car Game physics, etc...

GTX TITAN Z SLI

64GB RAM

Fixed

Hello there, i have an Alienware m15x gaming laptop that i acquired three years ago, is this config able to run GTA V in, let's say, "medium settings" ?

Intel Core i7 740QM

4GB RAM

1,5Go GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M

I wonder if GTX 760 will be able to run GTA V maxed out in Full HD smoothly (at least 30fps)?

I think it's possible even around 40-45 fps, IF R* optimize it for PC

Dude, i really don't think this last-gen mode will happen. But if you're looking for DX9, it's very likely it will be supported without any need for a last-gen mode.

I'll always be skeptical about those build-logs, i'm sure they're legit, but anything there could've been just a test or scrapped. I think last-gen mode was just a test using the last-gen assets.

The PC version surely will have sliders in graphics settings to adjust draw distance, detail distance and traffic density for example. Obviously there are also going to be lots of other settings like shadow quality etc. Just like in IV. With lots of options V can be predicted to run on wide range of PC's. I'm pretty confident that V can offer playability for those with low-end machines while offering stunning visuals for those with ultra-high-end rigs.

Regarding the system requirements I also think they are going to be near Max Payne 3. If you can run that easily, there should be no problem running V. Minimum should be around the same while recommended may need more RAM because of high ped and traffic density.

Most likely PC version will be x64 only because both ps4 and xboxONE will be x64. And I really not sure about DirectX9 support.

Like 4GB of RAM memory and you are okey ;)

Many people seem to be underplaying the importance of the CPU in this game. It's easily going to be the most important component follower by GPU and lastly RAM. My predictions:

Minimum requirements:

CPU - Intel Quad Core i5 3.0Ghz or AMD Quad Core 3.6Ghz

GPU - Nvidia 400 Series or AMD 5000 Series

GPU VRAM - 1.5GB

RAM - 4GB DDR3 1066Mhz

OS - Windows 7 or higher

Recommended specifications:

CPU - Intel Core i7 3.5Ghz or AMD 8 Core 4.0Ghz

GPU - Nvidia 600 Series or AMD 7000 SERIES

GPU VRAM - 3GB

RAM - 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz

OS - Windows 8.1

Those are my predictions and I expect it will take above the recommended to get a minimum 60 fps on max settings.

Caveat: if there are view distance sliders as we have in IV then throw all performance expectations out the window when aiming for maximum settings. These games are built with a very specific view distance and LOD set in mind. Messing with these settings can have disastrous effects on performance.

I was expecting the requirements to have around 2GB VRAM recommended considering all the city textures and the size of the city in GTA V
