I'm in free roam customizing a vehicle, when suddenly everyone inc

Last night I was in a free mode lobby, and I was in the middle of customizing a car in a mod shop. All of a sudden, the car vanishes, and just my character is left standing in the shop where the car used to be. At this point I get the "Your personal vehicle has been destroyed" message. For a second, my character is stuck in the mod shop and can't move. Then suddenly, I find I've been teleported to some parking lot/alley in the city, along with apparently every single other player in the lobby. There had to have been about 15 other players there, and we found ourselves practically on top of one another while another player tried to gun us all down.

 

It's concerning that without warning I can just be whisked away to a different part of the map, even while I'm in the middle of shopping. When it happened I had just dumped a ton of money into the car, but I hadn't bought the insurance for it yet. So all that money ended up going to waste. But I shouldn't even have to worry about losing a car while I'm in middle of upgrading it!

 

What gives? Could a hacker/modder even do something like this? Or is this just the game being glitchy?

Best to do any kind of modding to your vehicle in INVITE ONLY mode.

That appears to lock everyone out of your private little server.

It should therefore conclude your are free to shop until you drop.

Have a nice day and don't buy anything while you are in a public server ...... you have been warned.
