Well I wanted to look into this issue and I wanted to know if there are anyways of possibly resolving the problem its self...

First off, I own a Xbox 360. Don't forget that detail.

Now the primary issue is that whenever i play online, for some reason there always seems to be at least 1/3 or 1/2 of the lobby full of brain dead assholes that continuously harm others and intervene on anything they are doing, and I wanted to know if reporting someone for "Griefing" even helps at all...Because honestly I know I'm not the only one that finds this annoying, and I certainly know I'm not the only one hitting that report button on the ignorant players.

*Although I am aware that everyone has a freedom and choice of enjoying a game, I don't see how allowing a players to ruin another players fun is a justified thing to do, because personally that seems to be more of a dick move and it just labels them as an asshole.

*Mental State ranking is broken, it does not work right, and to further prove that, I have 3 friends that met up with another friend and boosted their mental state ranks up all the way to psychopath, so using that as a way to avoid another player can't really be used.

*Passive Mode is also very broken, I mean I certainly do understand the idea as to where I'm not authorized to harm others, but when I'm in passive mode driving my car there is always that one dick that either A) Blows me up or B) Shoots me down with the AP Pistol then blows up my car.(Please keep in mind this is from multiple Free-Roam sessions)

So this all concludes to the question which is, Does the Report button actually work?

I love when people play a game where the main draw of the game is to be able to kill other people and then complain about getting killed. simple fact of the matter is that this game simply lacks content to make anything other than killing each other fun for very long and killing other people is hands down the most fun part of the game and that will not likely ever change. your best option is to find a crew full of like minded pacifists who are more content to play missions and change their clothes and paint cars or just drive around and play invite only sessions. However you will discover that those things quickly become boring as sh*t after youve done them for a long time and you dont need money or RP anymore so replaying the same mission or driving the same cars on the same roads for the 10000th time just isnt fun anymore. they only aspect of the game that offers a change and some randomness is killing each other which is why what most people and especially higher ranks that have played longer do it. the computer always does the same thing, but a real person doesnt and they have varying skill levels so it stays fun for as long as you can keep finding new people.

If youre reporting the average player that kills you youre just an idiot and will spend lots of time looking at that menu and they will never get banned, but if youre talking about the small number of dipsh*ts in tanks that spawnkill you or hide in wall glitches or are otherwise actually cheating to kill over and over you then by all means report them and if they do it regularly when enough people report them they will be removed.

Griefing isn't a real crime for this game; Rockstar ENCOURAGES murder and vandalism as long as you're not going overboard (bad-sport lobbies generally fix this) inside their semi-virtual simulator. Only form of griefing that's actually worth reporting is being targetted by a hacker constantly, yet the HACKING part is relevant for a ban, not the GRIEFING part.

Stop f*cking whining about your experiences, you're not the subject of online bullying from users who don't even know you.

OP please read this.

The idea of passive mode is just to offer you SOME protection while you try to maneuver away or towards other players, or to stand around without getting shot up on the spot 50 times, not offer you god-mode-like invincibility from every possible threat around you -.- in that sense, it works just as it was intended.

If your REALLY trying to accomplish somethin hassle free, enter a SOLO SESSION or CLOSED CREW/FRIEND SESSION.

In passive mode, your protected against

-gun fire and explosions from other players

-melee attacks

-tank, jet and helicopter weapons

-merryweather mercenary calls

In passive mode, you are NOT protected from

-NPC attacks

-police attacks

-being hit by a vehicle of any sort

-being shot at or blown up while in any vehicle

-the water cannon on a fire truck

-other players "air thrusting" or "jazz handing" you

-the 12 year old insulting your over the mic

Edit: need someone to confirm if you are safe from airstrikes and muggers or not.

Geez that's harsh -.- lol smh

is it incorrect? it seems like most higher lvl players are randomly killing each other and anyone else that gets close to them in every lobby ive been in. only lobby where you dont see player X killed player Y quite regularly is if they are all low levels and even then you still see it occasionally. If youre crying and think someones griefing you just cause they killed you then youre playing the wrong game, lol

GTA Online was advertised as a "bold new direction," not Unreal Tournament 5. But GTA0 is nothing but a UT-type of twitch shooter for the brain dead assholes. We expected more than that. We didn't get it.

Naw, never said your were incorrect, cause I agree (check my other post in this thread). And I kno... Cause I'm one of those players who goes on killing sprees >:) I don't grief noobs, but I shoot on site, and it's killed or be killed. Can't trust them noobs longer than their lung capacity, so I kill them, and leave them the option to run away or continue to die.

But anyways, that one statement I quoted I found to be hilariously harsh. I'm considering making that my signature lol.

heh, complaining about some random person killing you in GTA Online is kinda like playing COD and then crying cause you get spawnkilled in my opinion.

well I have different approach. I dont attack random people. If someone shoot at my, I'll respond, but wont provoke to such situation.

Today I had sh*tty experience with one guy, that forgot his tampons:

I drove to the gold star icon for some mission (due to SC problems there were no missions). Some guy stood there and immediately started to shooting at me. Then ran over me few times. That made me mad, so I escaped to the sandy shores airstripe which was nearby and took buzzard. I've kiled him with a rocket and he went passive. He thought he won this pricky fight with me, but not with my rotator blades. I've mixed him down two times and gave up because im not that sort of douche.

I thought that it was done, but eventaully another prick started to interrupting my powersliding cruizing with two random cool guys. this guy was the top asshole, he started shooting my black zentorno, to the moment it caught little fire. (I was passive) The car exploded after 2 minutes with no free fee. I decided to wish him vagina cancer and went for a tank.

I was looking for that douche to have fun on his level, but in the process of searching him I started private deathmatch with one guy. I leaved my rhino and fought him on foot. After my 3 kills that f*cking asshole who destroyed my zentorno jacked the rhino and guess what. yeah, f*cked my life.

this is the cancer of gaming. games are meant for normal people, not for sociopathic virgins. There should be room for people who randomly cruize and race and for fighters, with respect approach to those two groups.

With all due respect, I immediately despise the fact that you went straight for a tank, instead of fighting on foot, my own personal opinion.

But again, the solution to that is either joining a respectable crew, one that specializes in car collecting or mission helping or whatever your into, and then joining a closed crew session. Or, finding a couple of decent players to friend and join a closed friend session.

If nothing else, there's nothing wrong with a solo session. Until I ranked up, got some decent cars and money, I played solo for a good while. Did missions alone. Even at this point with my current skill, during the highlife update when I was searching for a second property, I went to solo to buy it cause it didn't wanna hafta worry about griefing some idiot who blew me up while I'm trying to drive back and forth to LS customs with my new cars from the second property.

My point: the game won't change, so you gotta work around that.

Being a level 176 on the PS3 I tell you my experience and how to overcome.

If you're not looking for a PVP than this is what I recommend,

1) Don't use the LS Custom in Rockford hills unless everyone is away from that area. Generally most people live in the infamous eclipse towers. Try to avoid buying a place up there as well.

2) Colors don't matter. What I found out is I get attacked more by white players than I do Red players.

3) If you're getting shot at either on foot or in a car I recommend finding cover or leaving that area. If you think you can take him on then go ahead. Don't complain if he/she kills you. If you have a tank use it but don't spam all the players in there. You'd be surprise how fast others would get their tank and man handle you.

4) ALL Players are enemies. Doesn't matter the color or their voice. The only people you can trust are in your crew/friends list.

5) Passive mode is your friend but please don't spam it. It gets very annoying when you get people who either kill others and than gets a taste of his own medicine goes into pussy mode just to get a tank. They need to have it so only white dots can go into passive mode.

Not only do I like your name (it's slightly similar to mine and ones I've used lol), but that kinda sums up all of the points I've been making for a while now -.- good stuff.

haha, well clearly you might be new to and do not understand GTA games. The main reason people play it is to kill others with the variety of weaponry available in an awesome open world environment. Shooting people and blowing things up is easily the most fun part of GTA and having the ability to do so to real people in the game world of GTA is pretty awesome fun. It was the only thing you could do in GTA4 Online and was the main reason many people bought GTA5. As far as most players are concerned its the most fun part. No one bought this game to play rooftop rumble all day every day or to drive around following traffic laws and hang out in their apartments changing their clothes.

Granted there are some players who go to the extreme and keep picking on someone who cant fight back either cause hes a low level or cause the first guy is cheating. We call those players griefers and the reason they do such things is cause they are noobs who dont have any skills so they cannot win in a fair fight. Most players are not like this though. They still run around randomly killing each other and often times will kill each other 30 times or more until one guy gets sick of it and leaves. Most people wont chase others across the map repeatedly unless they killed them and then ran or something so if you dont start fights and avoid other dots youre usually pretty safe.

Rolling up on random dots without warning or explanation is always a bad idea, and especially if they are killing each other. I shoot every dot that approaches me if it isnt crew or friend, and pretty much everyone else does as well. Sometimes it turns out to be a random low level noob who just wants to be friends but more often than not its someone trying to kill you. Better safe than sorry. Ive found all my friends in missions who display a degree of competency, have a mic, and arent jerks, I will never add someone randomly or without seeing them in action cause far too many people are just idiots. Hate fighting and dying? avoid other dots, otherwise you better learn how to fight or play invite only sessions with your friends.

Straight? I've tried to kill him few times, pointlessly. I admit I've got owned, For a longer time i have no ammo in riffles, and the tommy gun have range comparable to throwed balloon. Im on 108 and actually bored with random fighting, so I preffer powersliding and that sort of things. After 250+ hours of online I like to chill and contemplate the game's amotsphere rarther than shooting everyone ;)

Sultangris, Im not new mate. I used to fight with people, fairly, and like asshole, mayby thats karma. ;)

Due to my notionality I am not able to communicate well with people (polish accent is really retarded and its hard to talk without him), so i have to gaining online friends by being nice, which sometimes is worthy, and sometimes not.

yup, basically avoid other dots. Until they adjust how mental state works White dots are mostly only red dots that have gotten killed by other red dots or have been playing missions recently, lol!

sounds like you might better enjoy a solo session, or invite only with some friends. I and most others really hate the tank and will kill anyone in a tank just cause hes in a tank. Tanks are only good for griefing as there is no way to kill it without another tank or a jet and its hard to escape from unless you spawn close to a wall or tight spot where it cant run you over in passive mode. Only pussies who cant fight and griefers use tanks against people on foot that werent just a tank griefer themselves, we spawnkill those homos to send a message. If you cant fight you are better off just running away cause if you suck on the ground you will suck in the tank as well and even if you manage to spawnkill him a few times before he gets away hes just gonna go get his tank and do the same thing back to you, so its kinda pointless and will only piss you off more, lol!

You're right mate, but there is some quite stupid issue- I dont want to leave my own crew, which Im a leader of. I would like to gather open minded people, but its hard and usually they're already in some bigger one, so they dont have my problem with solitary.
