Future map additions

With the recent announcement of GTA 5 on next gen consoles and PC, we can finally be sure that they will add a new map in the game.

It was too much for the old consoles to handle,so who know's what were going to see...San fierro? Las venturas?

#hypetrain

My guess: San Fierro in Northern San Andreas. Look at my earlier posts. You see why.

Also: If you fly out of the map anywhere, you can fly for at least 2 minutes straight (with the buzzard). This is however not the case in the north. If you fly that way, just 30 seconds out of the coast your helicopter will be destroyed, and you die.

This is very promising I think, because it looks like we are not allowed to enter that part right now.

EDIT:

changed the map to look more like the picture of Paleto Bay

25k1k0m.jpg

Anyways, I took a picture at the location where you put the bridge. It's Mount Gordo, and it just doesn't look "bridge-ish". Let me show what I mean:

9pjec7I.jpg

But hey, R* could add a tunnel or something. It's their map, they can do what they want.

As you can see, I made it grey, which on the GTA MAP is a tunnel :) I don't see them adding a highway over the hill. xD

But a tunnel is more likely. Especially a tunnel and then a bridge, which is done quite a lot in Scandinavia and a lot of other countries. I have never been in the USA, but I think that they also have combinations like this.

PS: I asked Rockstar for clarity about Paleto County. I hope I get an answer. If they answer anything else like: "It was a typo"; then it is added on purpose... So yeah... We have to wait. :p

Hahaha, didn't notice it was a tunnel. It would be interesting for a sky highway, but, actually, no. Anyways, you won't get an actual answer from R*. I can guarantee they'll say what you said like "It was a typo". But hey, that would pretty much confirm things. I was just extremely curious, so I went to Paleto Bay, and I think I'm going to stay there and heck, maybe make a fan made map. Somebody really needs to do that.

You can make a fan map, but based on nothing you have nothing xD Like I have made a rough outline of the southern coast. I am not sure it will be like this, but it will roughly look like this.

Anyone can make a fan map, but when it is based on no facts, it is based on lies, so you have nothing.

yes, when Rockstar does give an answer, like it was a typo, it confirms that Paleto County doesn't actually exists. If however they ignore the question or tell me they can't say anything or something similar; we know that it is NO typo and that Paleto County actually exists.

ask yourself has anyone in the history of gaming ever added a whole new map to an existing one (not a new area with boundaries, meaning the call of duty sh*t don't count)

No.

YES. Look at Burnout Paradise, an OpenWorld Map. And they brought out the Big Surf Island DLC, wich turns a construction Site for a Bridge into an actual Bridge with a new Island behind it ! (Yeah the Island was not as big as the main map, but its a map addition) And its no MMO, so technically it is possible to add new Parts to a OpenWorld Map (Single & Multiplayer) .

But the question is if R* WILL add new Map?

thought you would use an example like DC Universe or Defiant but burnout was not a mmo most players you could play with was like 16 and they let you access and area of the map they didn't add sh*t.

do you really think burnout set the standard for racing games? folish german

Interesting so Burnout Paradise was only 16, which is totally different from GTAO wich is ... hmm ... ah also 16.... ! And wether Burnout is a Racing game or not doesnt matter, this is a topic about expanding an OpenWorld Map. I can't proof the Island wasn't there before DLC, so wether its purely new or not but the Bridge wasn't their fully constructed and the roads their where slightly different, wich is proof of concept that you can modify an existing world with a DLC, which is all i wanted to point out.

OffTopic: Burnout Paradise was a good ARCADE Racing GAME! and it set a standard for good lookig car destruction. THE standard of Racing Games depends on what YOU with YOUR opinion prefers. For me i prefer mostlly RacingSims, so physically the actual standard would be something like R3E for me. And overall (Physics/Graphics/Immersion) it will be PROJECT CARS pretty soon.

I played the Forza-Series and i have a positive racing ratio in GTAO, so i think i know what i'm talking about here.

But what annoys me the most is, that you seem to be a pretty ignorant and small-minded/stereotyped thinking person.

Because you disagree with my personal OPINION you call me a "folish german". I'm not the head of State of Germany so i dont represent the public

opinion. That's my own opinion and every german (in fact every person, nationality doesnt matter) is an own individual.

If i dont like what you write i wont call you a stupid fat amercian, cause i know you dont speak for america and (hopefully) the most americans dont have your opinions.

Think about that and keep in mind the World doesnt end at the borders of the US.

And advice: If you look for a political career watch out what you say and write, those two words can say alot about how you're thinking.

(I only quote H.Clinton: F*** the EU! ---- very bad PR)

OT: Personally i think they won't modify the existing Island alot. If they add more Land i think it would be a seperated Island without a bridge, but reachable by Water and Air. That would be the easiest way and you can transport vehicles by Cargobob or maybe a new DLC-Ferry.

I agree with you for the most part, except the bridge. I think that in a game like Grand Theft Auto, it is important to have big islands, which are viewable from the shore; connected by bridges.

Races and chases with cars are still one of the main gameplay elements in the series. Thus they need a bridge to stay with this feeling. And a bridge and tunnel can easily be implemented.

Rockstar knows that a bridge is necessary for at least Northern San Andreas. Think about the missions it will open up. Rockstar knows this and knows that this will also be a very important asset in a dlc. The bridge might become place to most likely some very popular races, missions and more.

Also: I still didn't get an answer on my question about Paleto County. If I hear something, I will let you all know.

Well, i would love to have San Fierro and Las Venturas added to the game. It would be tremendous.

Unfortunatly, i doubt we will ever see it added to the game, not only because it would originate two different versions of the game (Last gen wouldn't be able to run it), but also because it takes a whole lot of work and time to create a new city/region.

I know that the map is huge, but i still got the feeling that something is missing.

I think additional territory will be added, more likely to be added on the next gen, than the current gen.

It doesn't get done very often because games companies make it as big and best as physically possible from the outset to make their game look better, generate better reviews and sales.

But with next gen, it's different, it can easily run the GTA O we have now and probably 16x that in terms of processing and memory etc.

It hasn't been done on consoles much (if at all) due to the technical limitations of them, but with next gen, much much more will be possible.

As for adding more to the current gen, the technology geek in me is doubtful, BUT rockstar are smart folks. As already mentioned, you can't fly very far north, there WILL be a reason for this, the likelihood is; rockstar planned to add more to the north from the outset, and that northern part of the map is already part of the game, being rendered (or the space is available) and just hidden away until it's finished. If rockstar planned it that way from the start (which I think they did), then it's perfectly feasible on a technical level.

The likelihood of massive additions to the map will be unlikely, that will probably be for next gen, or maybe both gens will get an update that allows you to go to the airport and travel between LC, LV, VC etc which is also perfectly doable on a technical level even with the current gen.

I'm not sure about the whole premise mainly based on the fact that PS3 and X360 won't be able to handle that much of map extension, We can barely explore North Yankton.

BUT, it's possible in the next gen consoles, and I believe that they should add The northern part of San Andreas, with vey big and rocky mountains and have San Fierro place up north, And also make us able to finally explore North Yankton to it's fullest, by flying to there or boat trip or even driving, the northerm part of San Andreas could have a frontier with North Yankton on it's east side, it could work.

Then give us some more storyline missions, this time around make them properly written and not make a half assed ending that we had before.

Since it's a next gen version of GTA 5, they probably won't remake the story line, heck, I can guarantee they're already working on GTA VI.

As for driving to North Yankton, once again it wouldn't work. North Yankton is based off of North Dakota, and San Andreas is based off of California. How. Does. That. Work. They would have to add in all of the other states and cities in between, once again taking way too much time for something that's probably going to be GTA 5 with Northern San Andreas. Rockstar COULD do this with GTA Online, but I just don't see them doing this for GTA V. It would take WAY too long, and would hinder the amount of time they could work on GTA VI.

Then again, anything's possible with Rockstar.

First of all: thanks for your answers everybody! :D

Okay ot:

A lot of you are pretty hyped up for Northern San Andreas and other cities. Here is a list which I give you some answers. Some facts and some reasonable thinking.

- Rockstar is probably not working on Grand Theft Auto VI. However, they are working on dlc. I mean to say that Rockstar is possibly creating subtitles for grand theft auto V, which is backed up by the trademark City Stories. Especially because handhelds didn't do a good job, it looks like they are creating big dlcs for gta, which will also be stand alone.

-as I said before, I have shown a list which shows why Northern San Andreas will come as map dlc. The list contains, but is not limited to: yoy can't access the north, the npc's act like it is already there, it is hinted in the game, names of counties and San Fierro are featured in gta V, we play in GTA V in Southern San Andreas; when there is a south there is a north.

- If last generation can't handle it, that won't mean that new generation doesn't get it. Why limit yourself if you can do it. Everyone knew Gta would see a new generation release, it just wasn't confirmed. Grand Theft Auto V and Online breathe New Generation all over. Gta Online doesn't get animals on Last Generation, does that mean new generation doesn't get it? No, new generation will feature animals in online. This is why I am sure Rockstar won't limit itself because last generation can't handle it.

- and for the last time: Rockstar confirmed that we will see map additions. Why don't people trust Rockstar? XD

This said: I can't wait for the new generation release. It will be GTA V 2.0, better, bigger and as it was meant to be.

Anyone else notice that on the Paleto Setup planning board that the entire right top corner (to about halfway accross and halfway down) is completely covered in sticky notes?

Might be a coincidence or maybe a hint?

Yeah it is covered, but the picture only shows the east part of paleto bay. You don't see anything higher. :-/ hmmm I don't know. It is a whole different part where I thought the bridge would be made, but maybe there are two? The postcard of Paleto Bay doesn't show that, but It would be awesome.

Good find, I am not sure about it, but Rockstar sure did a lot to hide the north. Or at least make it, that pictures don't face that way.

But we need to remember this. You could have something here.

With people saying that last gen can't handle a map expansion, may I reiterate a point brought up a little earlier that seems to have been glossed over: It's entirely possible that the map expansions are already there and we just can't see it/get to it. Therefore the game is already running with these new areas in place, so it wouldn't take anything extra to give them to us. Just a simple unlock on R*'s part. Rendering the hardware limitations moot.

True, I agree completely. Map size isn't that hard. The details and drawdistance are hard for the systems.

If you want you can create a landscape of 100000 square miles. Just empty tho.

But even if it would not be possible, which I really doubt, Rockstar could do it on new generation.

We will see it, and I think quite soon too.

Someone would've found it already so they're not already there. Just accept that GTA online for last gen is a beta, and the real deal is coming to current gen.

Either way; we will see northern San Andreas. May it be on all systems or just new generation.

Please lets go on topic instead fighting over something which is pretty irrelevant. Most people will have a new generation within 1/2 years.

Please lets talk what we will see as map expansion again ^^

So I'm an idiot for saying last gen GTA is a beta? So I guess everyone who says that are also idiots. But you are a child. Resorting to name calling. Lol how did I rustle your jimmies

And I'm not trying to be a current gen elitist because I had a ps3 and GTA V for it.

Im not rustled in the slightest and im not name calling but if you're gonna be so closed minded and think that R* are gonna bring out GTA5 and less than a year later are just gonna sack off all the millions of people who either cant afford or aren't interested in the new consoles, then you need to rethink it.
