Future map additions

The yacht would be an excellent addition too.

 

As of Dec. 15th, we will now have yachts. 'Twil be interesting to see what new game play variety they bring..! I'm already looking forward to trying to sneak up on them in my Kraken (wish Lester's "Off the Radar" was longer than 60 seconds).

 

We may get North Yankton but beside that I don't think we will be getting any map additions, but what I would like to see is offshore oil platforms of some sort.

For example:

And they could be located around about where the red dots are on the map:

Having more stuff offshore such as platforms will:

• Increase the use of the ocean
• Make the map more dynamic and varied
• And make use of boats

All in my opinion.

Well, the Dignity yacht doesn't have SAMs to blow you up so I think it would be cool for both free roam and creator. Same goes for the aircraft carrier (aka the USS Luxington).

And North Yankton seems the most plausible option for a map expansion, as it's already crated and would only need a bit of editing on the terrain and landscape.

I can't see a map addition happen as a normal online update. I can only see it being added in with a SP DLC.

Agree, its a project of different size compared to previous updates and surely requires more work for it.Also its a sure income for R* that way since the majority of the playerbase would buy it compared to a free update where one part of the playerbase buys cash cards while others don't.

Anyways, if RStar doesn't think of adding SF or LV to V, then they missed their chance. I'd rather have GTA 6 set in a be area than having it be in San Andreas all over again. It makes sense to have the other parts of San Andreas unlocked for GTA V.

New Cities,Islands countys, whatever they do, is all a possibility. For next gen, there is a much larger possibility to see this happening thing old gen(360, ps3). If the do not put this things into GTA Online for GTA 5, then when GTA 6 comes out,(which we dont know when, hopefully no for a while) we can jopefully see these things there.

I agree. I can totally see them adding new areas for both Single Player and Online. For one, the Online players wouldn't get bored with the map, and they'd have multiple places to go to.

R* will probably keep supporting GTA Online for as long as it keeps making money. So I won't rule out the possibility of a big city being added, but it might not come out any time soon. Those things take time to make. Also I wonder how things will work out if and when GTA VI comes out. You'd think they'd have a new engine by then so you'd assume that they'll create a new multiplayer that will outshine the current GTA Online. I feel like it would be kind of a waste of money and time to create a huge map addition for the current GTA Online if they are just gonna make a new multiplayer that a lot of people will probably move over to.

But that's a direct reference to an actual place? That's like saying the countryside in GTA V should've been called Angeles County. It makes no sense because Rockstar uses fictional names for their locations.

 

That's why Ventura County makes sense to have to have been related to Las Venturas. It's so specific.

But I am back with a HUGE rumor.

​We apparently see screenshots from early San Fierro and Las Venturas Singleplayer and Online add ons. While some seem fake, others look really real. Suddenly this information pops up all over the internet, which got my attention. This in combination with the (confirmed) map of RDR and Mafia 3 release it seems more legit than I previously thought.

​Still I am sceptical about this, but I would love to hear your thoughts about this? Perhaps some of you can utterly confirm that this is fake, but this seems to good not to share in this thread, which has every right for revival.

​Personally I think this is fake and we shouldn't get our hopes up, sadly.

Hey everyone; This topic has been dead for a while now and I think it doesn't really deserve that.
​It is a great place for speculation, ideas and the community and feedback here has been GREAT.

​So I hope the mods won't lock this thread because it is quite old. But I want to talk to you about some of my personal opinions:

​First off: the map which a lot of us loved:

 

 

 

 

 

 

This map was released and the internet went wild. Gifbrah did a great job on this one; and apart from some small things, I think this would be a near perfect map.

​I know that earlier in this thread I was quite the dreamer, thinking we would eventually see San Diego and Sacramento in the game. This is most likely not the case, as I know think Rockstar will only add 1 city per expansion, and some towns.

​At this moment I think that IF we ever see map additions for GTA V/Online, we won't see it as the map above, but more like this one:

This because a lot of missions will otherwise become unplayable, while by using bridges, it would be possible.

​Another option, which a lot of us may dislike, is that there won't be any map additions to GTA Online before the next installment. And that game can perhaps feature the entire state of San Andreas, again reimagined, with expansions here and there.

​This because the original map was limited due to hardware of the last generation consoles (xbox 360 and PS3). ​Now we will see consoles which can run endless maps in great graphical quality. However, building maps like these will take time. Something I shove away in my earlier thoughts as quite easy.

​If we ever see a map expansion of GTA Online featuring the ENTIRE state of San Andreas; most likely we won't see San Diego, Phoenix or loads of other big cities in the game.
​The ones I think we will see are simply: San Fierro (based on ONLY the San Francisco Bay Area, NOT San Jose), Las Venturas in the middle of the desert, with some canyons around it. Perhaps a town twice the size of Paleto Bay based upon Sacramento in the north and an even greater perhaps, a town Sandy Shores size, loosely based upon Phoenix with an airfield somewhere in the south.
​But we can only be sure of two things in the state: The two cities San Fierro and Las Venturas.

People been saying this literally since week one, simple concept and gtao needs it sooner than later. There as some aaa Multiplayer titles on the way toward end of year.

Ya know, in the online mission for Madrazo, Extradition, the Titan takes off and heads north over the water by Paleto and goes for a long way before the mission fails. Maybe there was supposed to be something out that way and was cut.

A very well done rendition, but IMO something all these maps lack (incl. Los Santos itself) are more interconnecting waterways. Water-based gameplay (above and below the surface) is very rare in GTA Online because of this, and I would personally love to see that change.

 

Additional waterways dispersed throughout the map means:

 

* More options for travel to/from other parts of the map
* More options for, and faster access to, water-based evasion
* Greater direct access to the heart of the city (or cities), where most of the game play takes place
* More opportunities for battle with LSPD watercraft (arguably underused)

 

There should also be some water-filled tunnels throughout the map (ala Humane Labs finale tunnel escape) to take advantage of things like the Rebreather, and provide for some exclusive underwater PvP battles without interference from aircraft or land-based vehicles.

 

New water-based vehicles are needed to augment these improvements, such as:

 

* Underwater jet skis for faster, single-player movement/exploration below water
* Armored (and armed) high-speed boats would also provide for more interesting game play, e.g. Piracy Prevention
* Two- or three-man subs (also at faster speeds), giving players more reasons to actually choose water as a viable part of game play

 

Lastly, some kind of public-access Oil Rig platforms (at least a few around the map) would boost interaction and game play opportunities for/with water-based vehicles (and limited aircraft, such as helicopters), not to mention potential new contact missions or CEO/VIP work.
