Future map additions

I'll PM you some information sometime tomorrow, I live in a city right against Phoenix(Glendale).

I have updated the map;

I added Glendale in Phoenix, and changed the location of the airport. I also added two other things, which I hope you can recognize!

I also added a lot more desert surrounding Phoenix and I added some "incorporated parts" which are on the edge of the city.

16ga9ms.jpg

EDIT: I also changed Las Venturas a little bit to make it more like it's real counterpart Las Vegas :-)

Good job man, that looks pretty good. Sorry I didn't get around to sending you the information but keep up the good work.

don't worry, I have done quite a lot of research about Phoenix in the hours while I was working on the map. I am glad you are happy with the end result :-) I think I pretty much covered most of it. I am still not happy with the two bridges from North to East San Andreas, as one bridge is also likely... so yeah... the work is never done it seems :p

In the trailer you can see LS in the distance, it's just out of the area where the seabed ends near the area where you deliver vehicles to Simeon

http://imgur.com/a/znAKW

Okay, I see now. I didn't notice that before now. I was more concerned with freeze framing the scenes that showed the heist mission planning... I probably should have watched the entire video with the same level of scrutiny...

What do you mean? Added interiors or ones they just gave you the keys for.

Either. There were some interiors only inaccessible in online (The Fleeca banks, for instance), some that weren't available except as part of a mission (the hospital and the Tequila-la-la, for instance), and some places that I feel should have had interiors that didn't (Fast-food restaurants, for example, considering that you could go into them in IV, while in V you have an actual and refined armed robbery component to the game, and those restaurants would have been great places for hold ups...)

I know that a couple of locations were added (the mineshaft) but I've not seen any threads detailing the extent of the changes...

Well there's the mineshaft and the FZ control tower in Online. Those are the only changes/additions I know of.

They made an undestroied version of the Pillbox Hill medical centre (removed the side doors but they're still there on the inside) that's not enterable and you can see right through the doors as if it is. But get this, in that mission where they get destroyed, the doors turn into the doors from last gen, the blackish blue ones (from last gen), kind of stupid if you ask me.

I would also put another small airfield in the green farmlands outside the Phoenix Counterpart. We have an air force base, and a small airport west of Phoenix near some farmland.

could you circle the place and send the map to me in pm? I will then change it accordingly :-) (FYI, I can change the farmfields below phoenix entirely, as they are a separate layer :-))

Map Update:

made it more to look geographically logical.

Also changed San Fierro to look bigger. The most northern bridge from North to East San Andreas is more northern, so now Yosemite Park is really a large park with wildlife, untouched by humanity (until the park rangers and a certain guy or girl are having a fire fight, resulting in the extinction of multiple animal species...)

while still not finished, the map feels better in my opinion. All together; the map is (a little less than) 4x the current map.

enjoy, and happy new year everyone! :beerhat:

Hi. I tried to tell guys in map topic but they don't believe me, there's a baseball stadium in GTA V somewhere. You can see it on a commercial after the cartoon detective show. Tv also shows other things too. Check it out before you tell me "no".

Yeah I know what you're talking about, it might just be in another R* game that's not released yet or something, they have used footage from future games in TV shows before. (RDR was seen in GTA 4)

Well, that sucks. I was hoping for more interiors in next gen. At least there is the fact that what little they did add proves the viability of adding new interiors... perhaps they'll add more in future updates.

Forgive me if this has already been talked about in the thread, I haven't gone all the way through it, but I was wondering if Rockstar add these extra bits of land to the map would the player limit still be 16 or 30 for the whole area or would going to a new area be like jumping between sessions with a new group of players in each?

If it's the first, then it's going to be so sparse you may never meet another player. If it's the second, you lose the continuity of the open world.

Yes, it's assumed that each new city would be on a new server. As for the "continuity of the open world" thing, it's not much different than the way it is now, with people loaded into different lobbies of the current map.

Ok, I didn't know about this topic. You guys are really good, and I went back and saw the Los Ventuer or something city. And do you think that it'll be its own state? it the radio the guy referred to SanAndreas state as not part of LV. Plus I believe that we'll get Map dlc too.

Could be from the possible map expansion, rather than different game. We just don't know at this point. However to back up this claim there is an advert (in the game's cinema?) that shows the Hunter helicopter (forget proper name), and now is been officially confirmed with the heists trailer. It could be possible that its from a future update dlc, or at the same time be cut content or purpose made for the advert. Again we just don't know at the moment.

Mind you I would like to see this commercial, is it the Sprunk one by any chance?

If map expansions do ever happen, which I think is a large possibility and they do happen to appear on Last-gen as well, then the separate maps will be on different servers guaranteed due to resource limitations; thus keeping it at 16 players.

Next gen is different; if R* can manage to fit a map expansion on the same server to the massive extent that ivarb is looking at, then they'll also need to increase the player count, possibly double it to even things out.

Now even if they can get all the maps onto one server Online, which I doubt is possible, they'll have to increase the player count, which again I doubt is possible.

Obviously with the infinite power of PC, all this can be done. I would speculate when the version in question gets released that there will be more than 30 players in a single session.

This is just my two cents about this. Anyone feel free to correct me, but I think this is how it is.

Just before online was launched I read an interview with someone from R* in a games magazine and they said that as online progresses adding additional islands to the map is a real possibility. Such as Vice City and Liberty City. Now, as we're still seeing problems online, do you think this could come to fruition? Or is it just a dream at this point?

If they do I want this before anything else. It sucks that they made San Andreas (California) before, but on this one, they said phuck Northern California and SF.

holy f*ck boys

Maybe R* will start adding/unlocking interiors for awhile. It would be great to actually have places to go in online, It would also be a good way to help keep players in Online, maybe we'll get new interiors (at least in current gen it seems) and then in 6 months to a year, they could unlock a new city.

I still think this should be made into a reality though...

I like it, but I seriously doubt that they would add the other islands flush up against Southern SA like that... Not to mention that in the map as depicted in your post Paleto Bay basically becomes a river...

I like how these conceptual maps remove crappy central California. I lived in Fresno for years and that place shouldn't be in any video game.

I'm sure this will be drowned out but I remember long before even Los Santos was even confirmed for V someone on the forums somehow found an online photobucket-esque album of a R* employee who was a part of the map designer team who had an endless amount of real life pictures in 3 separate albums of Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco. I without a doubt can guarantee they will include LV and SF in future updates down the road, since abruptly after the discovery had been made of the employees business trips the albums had become private, not to mention R* admitted they designed the map to allow additions later on.

They most definitely plan to add these two cities in the future, I just fear the problem lays with looking at how long its taken them to release something as simple as heists, only god knows how long until they could actually add more landmass to the map. I feel instead of releasing a GTAVI they'll just make the map larger with an extending storyline and more playground for online.

That map is beautiful, but I think Ivar's version is much more credible. With all the detail Rockstar put into the underwater world, it would just make no sense for them to add land over such a significant portion of it, it makes a lot more sense for San Fierro and Las Venturas to be built as islands.

I truthfully am not really sure how I would be able to find those posts.. I tried a few google searches but the keywords have been used so many times over the years it'd be hard to look through every single one. I do distinctively remember this though and I've mentioned in posts before a while back since I found it especially interesting in how the albums became private soon after they were found out and linked to on here. I'll see what I can find though

It's been a couple years so it's hard to recall exactly how long, it may have been after the first trailer which had lead many to believe there would be 3 cities.

Also the map design for additional land was talked about in an old interview where they were talking about the future of GTA Online and how it was created to be able to add on more of the map.

In my opinion island map additions makes more sense then landlocked map additions, it would give boats more purpose and would help keep the feel of open world if the new island was on another server. Maybe instead of a bridge there was a car ferry, plane and train to transport between each island so docks, airport and trains stations would become a way to go between each island?

The only problem is if you they would need a choice menu when you left one island so you could choose to join the server with your friends as if i was following a friend to the other maps and it loaded up the next server at random would be a pain in the ass!

Didn't vice city load half the map up at a time?
