reform 2,286
I haven't got the wrong end of the stick. I wasn't specifying HOW they'd expand the map, just that it was a goal in some form or another "... adding additional islands to the map..." "... HOW they'd expand the map..." This is what I take issue with. The map itself categorically will not be expanded or added to to include new cities. Any new cities/islands/states will be completely seperate from the GTAV map. You won't be able to seamlessly get from Los Santos/Blaine County to new areas via flying, swimming, boat, etc.
LightningLord 6,648
I would like to see: - North Yankton. It's already in the game. Just have to finish the rest of the map and render it. - Vice City. Honestly one of my favorite GTA games. Although I did find the map small. It could fit in the game. - Las Venturas. Why not? - Liberty City. Yes I know. The map is so huge it might cause the game to update really slowly. Who knows? LehPhatGer-bear
darkwar854 2,226
The only thing I think possible is having Liberty City from GTA 4. It's already modeled, so all you would have to do is spend $1000 at the airport and get a flight to Liberty City. LehPhatGer-bear, Heists, BlackScout and 1 other

It was just a figure of speech. ANYwaaaaaaaay, yeah, LC wouldn't take THAT much work and I wouldn't mind a loading screen between areas.

ezfaun 1,609
What if a long ass golden gate bridge is added? And after passing the midpoint, one world gets unloaded while the other gets loaded in? Like a country border or something. Make it seamless too like once you're at the midpoint, LS would slowly lose its detail while SF would just start to load. Same goes by air and by sea. That would be AMAZING. NubcakeVII, ivarblaauw, LehPhatGer-bear and 10 others

UtterTehSEAL 266
R* has said for a long time this is their baby, and it has limitless possibilities. I know that sounds like marketing bullsh*t but I really have faith in R*. It will happen how and when is the real question? Will it come to this gen? Next gen only? In GTAVI but we could go back to Los Santos? Having said that I really want San Fierro first then Las Venturas. Arya35 487
This is one of the reasons San Andreas' free roam was a lot more fun than gta v's free roam, it had multiple cities, rather than just one city and a lot of the same countryside. Eddie_INTV

H8GodMode 668
If they ever decide to do this its not going to be Liberty city it will most likely pay homage to the original SA and add in San Fierro and Vegas i remember seeing a image posted in 2008-2009 of what the GTA V map was expected to be from Rockstar... and one half of the map was really similar to what we have now... but it had additional islands to the right... basically double the size... Gallioni 705
The most possible addition would be liberty city. It already exists in the HD universe so they barely need to re-vamp it. Vice city, las venturas etc wont be coming because they need to do them all over again, we'll see. Vice city is probably going to be saved for GTA 6 though, just a guess. ezio4life99 and Alvarez

Kind of funny that they gave us both bigfoot (sort of) and sharks (kind of) in V, but no jetpack.

Supheris 278
It would be nice to get expanded maps. Possibly go through the airport and arrive at San Fierro, Vice City, Liberty City, Yankton, etc... It would add a nice new dimension to the game as well as more DLC. However I dont see it happening anytime soon

AdmiralAmmunation 383
It took years to make Los Santos... North Yankton or Liberty City I could see, as they are already built in the HD universe (for the most part) Building a whole new city from scratch sounds far too much for just a DLC... But a city with a base already built I can very much see.

Including getting deals for music, character models, vehicles, utility and storyline. Even then, 5 years is way too long for such a project from a company like R*. Expect more and info soon is my bet. A new island + side missions can easily be made within a year. And it is a big company we are talking about. Hundreds of employees. ivarblaauw 3,290
It'll definitely happen sooner rather than later I think. Perma bans on hackers and modders wouldn't hurt either. Yes and yes. Map DLC will happen. I am sure. and yes Permabans on Hackers and modders will make this game a whole lot better. I don't dare to play Free roam right now... :S And for the people telling you it won't come due to RAM limits... Map size has nothing to do with RAM. only with memory. As long as you have enough space on your HDD there should be no problem. The glitch where you could go to North Yankton did not have any performance hit on the consoles. Due to cell loading (which GTA uses) a part of the map will only become detailed when close enough. In the distance they have a very low poly model which does not have any performance hit. Why don't we have a super sized map then? Well because of this: Why should you make a lot and sell it for 60 dollar, if you can sell it for way more in loose packages? Also I believe that there should be things to do in the map otherwise it will become boring. Rockstar is working on that right now. Make a few missions and heists in SP there and bring out the cut content along with it: You have a DLC which you can sell for 30 to 40 dollars. Instead of selling the game of a minimum of 40 dollars, now they catch 80 for it... you get my point? same with LC etc. They can do the entire world if they want and also Rockstar North president: The Benz said this Himself: "WE ALREADY HAVE PLANS FOR WHAT THE NEXT WORLD HOLDS... WE'VE GOT A BUNCH OF OLD STUFF WE'RE TOYING WITH USING..." "We're just going to add on NEW things to it, NEW places all the time. We've set this up so there are NO limitations. The only limitation is the size of the disc and how much memory we've got. We could, if we wanted, simulate the entire world, different countries, whatever." And GTA Online is their baby... they want it to last forever... How can it last forever in one map? Not. So how will R* reach this goal? yeah you guessed right Edited June 5, 2014 by ivarblaauw NubcakeVII, Eddie_INTV, Ezza. and 3 others
