Future map additions

Recommended Posts

STARLORD-1480

Just before online was launched I read an interview with someone from R* in a games magazine and they said that as online progresses adding additional islands to the map is a real possibility. Such as Vice City and Liberty City. Now, as we're still seeing problems online, do you think this could come to fruition? Or is it just a dream at this point?

More than likely in october or in 2015. Hacking isn't going to stop till rockstargames decides to sue them.

I would think Liberty City would be in the first run of being added as a DLC for GTA Online since it's already been created. only needs to be detailed more. Vice City is questionable. It would need a new map. lol

I think the online that we have now will continue to grow into next gen and beyond. R* dont need to make a new online for each new gta that comes out, they can just expand the one we have.

I think that's their intention, afterall, it's called GTA Online not GTA 5 Multiplayer.

I don't think Rockstar intended it to be like it is now. Each new update has presented new issues and delays. E3 is just around the corner so I would like to entertain the idea that Rockstar has at least something to show off. I'm also looking forward to the next Red Dead (Revolution?). But I also think that will be X1/PS4 only.

I believe it's possible. I remember hearing in one of the Machinima Inside Gaming videos that one of the leading devs said GTA Online has the potential for years of content, which even with the problems of the game now, it's still possible. You're right about them never having to make a new online component. Although, I doubt they'll have anything at E3 seeing as that's an event they rarely ever participate in as a company.

A different airport to fly to. Having a different atmosphere. Actually making boats useful. A change of scenery rather than having the clusterf called LS and the barren

desert of Sandy Shores. IDK, why the hell did people wanna go to North Yankton then? IDK. I just prefer a large body of water seperating the main islands in the game.

Considering the amount of resources it takes to produce HD replicas of modern cities I doubt they will be remaking entire cities as the series progresses. With that in mind (and if the logic is accurate) this is the Los Santos we will have for the foreseeable future. That being the case, the only way this GTA Online can actually progress game to game, is to add other cities to the online universe, rather than start fresh every time. In my opinion it would be very easy for them to add another city to the GTA online universe. You travel north and it loads the next map, travel east - another map. Basically only one city can exist at once and if they can manage the size of install on the hard drive they could add several cities to the online universe to current gen hardware. It would be no different than you having GTA 4 on your hard drive and quitting "V" and playing 4, and using universal character data. This is actually what I think WILL happen in the DLC for this game. I don't see there being a whole lot of new story, but it would not be hard to send us back to Liberty City, just download the map. I know I'm a fool, but it is possible and makes more sense than any other option.

Yes they will be at some point, they want to make GTA Online its own living world, using the airport to load alternate maps (switching lobbies) would be the way to go, and im sure we will see San Fierro and Las Venturas before Liberty City, just because they didnt put these in the games doesnt mean its not something they have been building for a long time. Im sure they have had plans to add those for a while. The use of next gen consoles is probably what will allow them to do this easier

For current gen.

Never.

for next gen- a possibility

Current gen has another 5 years or so before it shuts down

It would probably take them that long to make all of the maps, coding, bug fixing (if they even do that in the first place), etc

and by then, why would you want to put such a large thing on an almost 15 year old system anyway?

I think you got the wrong end of the stick, OP.

They do intend to add new places, but not onto the GTAV map, so you won't be able to grab a boat or plane and make your own way there.

Rather, you'll just be able to pick a map from the start menu and go there, or possibly go to the airport and pay to "fly" to another map.

PS, they're already working on the LC expansion to GTAO.as they'll mosre or less be able to pollish up GTAIV and update it slightly got GTAO.

I doubt any other locations will be added until the next main title release, at which point it'll probably come out a week or so after.

SkymnäsWolf

Still wanna say this:

I am certain that we will see map DLC. I put this in another topic but here is my post:

DLC based of Facts and cut content:

San Fierro City Stories (guess of price: about $30 to $40)

Some Angels of Death intervene with Trevor's work... He doesn't take that too lightly.

After a few missions In Southern San Andreas, Trevor needs Lester to buy a pass over the bridge to Northern San Andreas. (If you try to access it otherwise, you will get a wanted level of 5 stars when SEEN by Law enforcement).

He now attempts to kill some MotorClub hideouts of the Angels of Death in San Fierro and a few towns.

Gang wars will be implemented in both big cities (Los Santos and San Fierro) which can be played by Franklin (Families vs Ballas) and Trevor vs AoD and Lost.

Michael, Franklin and Trevor are called by Lester which needs some people for some new heists in both Los Santos and San Fierro.

Trevor wants to expand his enterprise, so he says yes on the spot.

Michael is again bored to death and wants to continue what he did best: Heists.

Lamar is leading the Families in an ongoing gangwar versus the Ballas and other gangs. Franklin says yes because his best friend Lamar needs money and weapons to finance the gangwar.

New features:

- Gang wars (for Franklin and Trevor and Online Character)

- Drug Dealing (for Franklin and Online Character)

- Trucking missions (for Michael and Trevor and Online Character)

- New Assassination missions (also for Online)

- New Heists (4)

- New drug trafficking missions (for Trevor) Now with Plane, Van and Boat

- Casino's open up through out the map. (new activities and heist can involve some of them.)

New Area's:

- Paleto County (north West of Paleto Bay)

- Red County

- San Fierro County including San Fierro city

- Maybe another city based on Sacramento

New Interiors:

- Bars

- Stripclubs

- Nightclubs

- Shops (clothing, barber, etc.)

- Restaurants (fast food too)

- Police stations and Hospitals

How to Access new map:

Another island spawns north of Southern San Andreas. A big highway bridge close to Paleto Bay connects the two, and the two islands are connected in the north east by two bridges. A small wooded bridge and a smaller highway bridge.

ONLINE:

Of course Online is continuing in this DLC.

Online features new interiors, a new map, new missions and a lot of new side activities like Pool, Bowling, Billiard and comedy clubs.

Radio:

The Radio can exist from two parts: The unused songs for V or old Songs from GTA San Andreas.

I know I prefer the last one, but the first one is more likely.

Q: Why do I think we will see this?

A: Logic. Grand Theft Auto V and Online will be here for a long time, maybe even a next generation release.

To not lose players, the map must become bigger and more diverse. Also missions should be added. All side activities and interiors I have stated earlier in the post were cut from the game because of disc size or they weren't finished yet.

Q: Hey! this is impossible on last gen consoles! The hardware simply can't handle it, right?!

A: North Yankton is in the GTA V map. However, it has been made invisible for the rest of the game. Also GTA uses Cell Loading. This means a chunk of the map is only loaded when you are close enough. Are you far away, the LOD will be very low. You will just see a very low poly model of the landscape. This is not very difficult for the hardware to handle. :)

Q: Why are you so sure GTA will see a Next Gen release?

A: Because GTA Online needs players. simple as that. Also the game will look better, have more details and a better LOD. The Next Gen consoles are 16x stronger than Last Gen consoles. Rockstar wants to have players play this game 6 years from now. That can only be achieved by going Next Gen.

Q: why post it here?

A: It's my idea of a DLC, and it is all based on facts. Only the first few lines were imagined, the rest is hinted by Rockstargames for a big dlc. However, I don't think the upcoming Story DLC, because R* said specifically Southern San Andreas.

Q: Why not Las Venturas and Eastern San Andreas?

A: Who said it won't be coming to Online or V? I just think San Fierro and Northern San Andreas will come first...

Q: where is the Fight Club from IV in all this?

A: no info found about the Fight Club. However, I have high hopes R* will implement this in the future.

That is only San Fierro and surrounding Country side, We could also expect Las Venturas and surrounding Country side (there are pictures in some of the bars, where you can see the nevada desert area) and I am pretty sure we will see North (+maybe South) Yankton and maybe Liberty State + Alderney State and Vice City.

Why Vice City last? well, it is almost identical to LS biome. It will look like you drive in exactly the same place.

But Rockstar said they want GTA Online to last forever. so expect a lot.

Also an Insider said that we will soon hear some exciting news and we should be expecting a LOT.

Said this:

Have a nice day everyone. :D

It's possible and they can do it after heists .

They will have much time to do it .

And they can finish it after 4 months or 3 months .

Because they need to add new buildings and new props ...etc

I haven't got the wrong end of the stick. I wasn't specifying HOW they'd expand the map, just that it was a goal in some form or another
