Killerdude
Long story short, I am buying an 84 Chevette and We don't know if the guy has the Alternator or not, And as far as we know, Replacement Alternators won't come with this Spacer(That special Chevette engine though..) So does anyone know of a Place in the Edmonton Area where I can buy one of these Spacers? Or an Online site that sells them? Â It doesn't have to come with an Alternator, We can always just grab one from another old GM, We just need this Spacer. Â Â Any help is appreciated. hvcciookay
You can just buy a aftermarket spacer from jegs or summit. They're universal for the most part and you have to cut them down to the appropriate length.
Killerdude
Can I get a link to a site that sells these? Shipping to canada somewhat required.. Also, if it is the correct part, I'll need measurements to fit the Chevette. Â Should be a tube with a tab on one end with a hole in it.
GunWrath
Depending on the bolt used, most auto parts stores sell universal spacers for alternators. Should go check them out.. as far as alt. spacers with a tab and hole, hmm.. not too familiar with that. Sounds like it's a spacer with a bracket attached. Â http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tff-4503 Â That's for GM alternators with a 12 o'clock mounting.
Killerdude
That part looks like what I described, I'm going off 20 year old memories from my Father. Â Do you know of any place that has those in stock?
Killerdude
Are you sure that'll fit the Chevette Engine? Apparently that isn't the part, but he aint too sure.
GunWrath
That site said the part wasn't available after I posted but I couldn't find anything on the web for it but I'm sure that it would work. GM doesn't change too much when it comes to their alternators, especially on models such as a Chevette. I would just talk to a local mechanic shop or auto parts store and if they can't help, it's safe to say you guys may just need to buy a spacer from an auto parts store and then fab up a 'tab' or bracket that you can weld on or whatever you need. Killerdude
Hmm, We'll have to wait and see if the guy actually still has the Alternator, Hopefully he does.
