Have to laugh heartily at leaker R*F*'s recent statement about R*'s refusal to let players assume the role of cops in-game:

"F***ing never. Its GRAND THEFT AUTO. You're not a cop."

...meanwhile, R* promotes players dressing up like a character from Tron (of all things, a sci-fi movie completely unrelated to Grand Theft Auto), drive a Tron motorcycle, and even promotes Tron-like Adversary Mode games.

Hypocrisy much?

One has nothing to do with the other. GTA games are about the opposite of being cops.

The Shotaro bike they added is based on a real life prototype bike, just with illumination on it. http://www.lotus-motorcycles.com/media-downloads/impressions.html

However it's totally fine to fill the single player activities quota with:

-Golf

-Tennis

-Yoga

-Triathlons

-Waste Collecting

-Movie going

-Car towing

But we should never be cops! Man that would destroy GTA's whole legacy !! Very eager to play chess or catch butterflies in GTA VI.

Fair enough on the bike; still choking on all the extras (specific game mode, outfit + helmet) promoting the source/theme of the bike, rather than simply adding the bike itself. It's a weak argument (at best) regarding why cops are off-limits. Just pointing out spades here: GTA Online won't philosophically implode because some players like to role play as cops.

And before someone starts on this, there was no previous history of Tron *anything* in prior GTA games (unlike tanks, military vehicles, etc.)

And now, back to the worst of R* logic...

GTA's history has been that you are always an actual criminal with sometimes the ability to do neutral work as mini games.

To my knowledge there has been no GTA game that has put you in the position of an actual cop. Correct me if I am wrong, it's been very consistent.

Not technically a cop, but we have had vigilante missions.

The cop thing is absolutely logical. Never in the history of humans has any crime ever been commited while the perpetrator(s) were impersonating cops... oh, wait, nevermind...

(almost) Correct (thanks to Hunter for setting the facts straight). But not exactly the point here...

lol +1 Or a big spoonful of reality: cops sometimes ARE the crooks. In the immortal words of Detective Inspector Derek Grim (The Thin Blue Line): "There is nothing lower than a bent copper."

Anywho, back to the thread.

Maybe it's been mentioned before but:

In the humane labs heist when you set off the emp the contact seems surprised that some things still work with a back up (generator?).

First off, an emp would also disable the back up and secondly, how were we supposed to download the data if the emp took out all the electronics?

Dr Labuschagne

Did you ever realise that the Handbrake/E-brake only works when you turn the analog in either direction?

These people don't like us drifting at all do they

And the Tornado custom has steptronic gearbox, with both a automatic and manual stick shifter...

Really? I can use the handbrake without touching the steering in any car or bike, rear wheel even locks up.

There might be some issue with your controller.

That controller was 8 minutes old out of the box...

How are you supposed to do anything in that mission honestly. You see it takes out power to all of Blaine county but magically your heli is just fine and so is every merryweather vehicle that drives in to attack lol

Flying a chopper with keyboard for MC selling missions. Deliver drugs. So I increase height and such with WASD, I controll the choppers angle with 4568 and I need to drop the cargo with "arrow right"??? Should I play with my rooster out and punch it in the middle of the keyboard between my hands?

I use my thumb to hit arrow right.

An EMP isn't magic, if it was an old school purely mechanical diesel generator as a backup power source then the EMP would do basically nothing to it but it would have to be manually turned on because the circuitry that turns on the generator would have been affected. Since it took a bit for the generateor to turn on we can assume a per4son had to do it and it's completely plausible.

EMPs do not fry everything, mainly just integrated circuit boards and newer electronics that are not properly shielded. Older tech doesn't care at all, particularly if it was off then the EMP is detonated.

You deliberately stole an older Huey style helicopter presumably because it does not use integrated electronics and the EMP would have no effect on it. The Merryweather vehicles were likely outside the area of effect at the time, and powered off. Also EMP effects are largely only Line of Sight so unless the vehicles were in that valley they should have been fine.

and the windmill is still spinning

Because electricity doesn't power a windmill. Wind makes it spin. I'm pretty sure your EMP didn't stop the wind, so it's still going to be spinning. LOL. Edited by BitBasher

Encourage players to "grief" others. Give them options to avoid "griefers" like passive mode and ghost mode (not ghost organization, ghost mode, it's when a player kills you 3 times unanswered you have an option to ghost them for 3 minutes.)

Then add an option to report for griefing. *facepalm*

Edit: to add to this.. kill afk/low level/whoever 100 times in a row unanswered game gives 2k for being a good sport, blow up a hostile armored vehicle hit with insurance and a bad sport warning.

What in the actual f*ck!

There's a ghost mode?

Yeah, it was added quite recently. I don't see it very often and I'm sure many didn't even notice they added it. If you get killed 3 times without damaging your attacker you can ghost them for 3 minutes. By doing this you can still use your guns on others but you and your attacker can't harm each other until it wears off.

Personally I find it to be a waste of time and data seeing how we already have passive mode for players that don't want to fight in public freeroam. I've had few instances where a player ghosted me. 1 used it properly and fled while others hung around long enough that it wore off and I just went back to killing them because that's part of public freeroam and I was having fun.

I'm assuming like passive mode ghost mode doesn't work if a player is VIP/CEO/MC.

...also, when using a sniper rifle when merely scoping in, one that supposed to give you a HUGE initial attack advantage causes the npc to not only immediately feel your presence (from a half a mile away it seems), knows where you are and can hit you immediately as if they have a sniper rifle ...all 3 should NOT happen like this and for any gun for that matter!

Can we change this now..thx

Quick question about ghost mode, I'm 99% sure that it wears off after a few minutes and makes that person killable again, however does it ever require both you and the ghost mode person to try attacking each other to make it wear off?

I was once doing piracy prevention and a kid that I was killing earlier that had gone into ghost mode came towards my yacht (this was more than 10 minutes after he went ghost mode) but he was still a ghost, however he could shoot his rockets and cannons at me from his savage but they did no damage and I couldn't lock on to him and my bullets and stuff just went through his heli, he landed and was able to start capturing my yacht while still having his character ghosted. I immediately left the session so he couldn't win and joined back to report him and accuse him of being a modding loser, he then said that both players have to try attacking each other to make ghost mode go away, which I'm pretty sure isn't true. This was on PC btw
