bojeddr32
Before reading, tell me if I placed this topic in the correct place. Hi guys! I have been downloading mods for San Andreas lately. 2 latest mods I have downloaded are the manual installation of HRT Enhanced Edition 1.3, and the Real Cars 2. Since I love both mods, I wanted them to be compiled in one game, but it cannot be. My first GTA SA which has Real Cars 2, is working WITHOUT the HRT mod, so as the HRT mod working without the RC2. I tried placing the contents of "into gta3.img (in the downloaded file)" in HRT mod to the gta3.img in Real Cars 2. Everything is fine, until I rebuild it. Using Alci's IMG Editor, it says at around 95% "Error writing entrydata" or something like that. Then, I tried Spark tool, and it showed an Unhandled Exception error. Then, in IMG Tool, it showed a message, still about the errors thing. I really wanted them to be in one game, other than in separate San Andreas(es). I also read somewhere that the game suddenly gets "crazy" if the gta3.img is around 2-3 GB. I hope you understood BTW, AFTER placing the contents, my gta3.img file has changed its size around 2.51 GB. P.S. I read fastman92's suggestion in this topic (http://gtaforums.com/topic/674845-gta3img-info-needed/?hl=%2Bsize+%2Blimit), but I did not understand. Can someone translate it for me? Thanks I am only experimenting this. I have the modloader with the 2 mods, but I am just curious if is there a size limit. Silent
Yep, 2GB. Though you'd be better with not touching the IMG (restore an original one) and using Modloader instead. With it I believe you can go ahead with installing mods, doubt there is a limit. zire
The limit is around 4GB. You can load gta3.img content from another .img archive INSTEAD, with fastman92's IMG Limit Adjuster (http://gtaforums.com/topic/500814-img-limit-adjuster/), which lets you load more .img archives. E.g., you can have one archive for vehicles, et cetera. Edit: @Silent Modloader seems very promising; I'm surprised that I've never heard of it before... bojeddr32
@Silent 2 GB? Hmm. I never knew of that. Before, I have been a modder, and my gta3.img reached more than 2, but less than 2.5 GB, and never experienced any issues. ANYWAYS, at least the 2 mods are working together, cleanly, I guess I got my answer. The only disadvantage that I found is the San Andreas root folder will be heavier if using modloader, than replacing. But, except that, everything is really working well, or perfect @Zire For me, 4 GB is just too big for an .img file. And, yes, I used (and currently using) fastman92's IMG Limit Adjuster. It's really useful. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/712278-is-there-an-img-size-limit/#findComment-1065492180 Share on other sites
zire
The limit, beyond which an IMG file will not work properly, if not at all, is ~4GB; that's what I meant. I don't the exact details, though. The thing is that certain IMG editors are not able to process IMG files ~larger than 2GB. As for "San Andreas root folder will be heavier if using modloader, than replacing"; you are referring to disk space consumption, yes? bojeddr32
I understand. So, if the IMG Editors rebuild the IMG files (which are already above 2 GB) they will get unresponsive? That's what you mean? Is there an editor which could increase the limit of the IMG, in order to have more possibilities? EDIT: Is there an IMG editor that could rebuild an image 2 GB above? I heard about Alci's, but it still got me the error. Exactly. I found that only disadvantage myself, but it could save crashes of the game. I found a bug though, my modded sniper rifle (to Barrett M82) has a pure white texture, even the files are in a folder, in modloader. That's strange. Even my AK is white. Other than that, about the disk space consumption, my GTA San Andreas (Which has HRT and RC2) have more than 7 GB (LOL)! I will try adding Oblivion, and see the results OFFTOPIC: Have you installed the Hillrace map (it's Akina, I think)? If you do, can you tell me? My game crashes when I add it (of course, in another IMG, not gta3.img) Thanks in advance Edited May 31, 2014 by bojeddr32 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/712278-is-there-an-img-size-limit/#findComment-1065498240 Share on other sites
bojeddr32
Soooooo, I have placed the Oblivion, and damn! It's working perfectly Added sound mods, and more. Modloader is just the thing I needed. Thanks for the assistance guys @Heathstrife Hehe. The modloader is really working well. I was just experimenting SA, and see if there are limits on the IMG (which there are). zire
I just checked; you can delete content from gta3.img and load it from modloader instead. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/712278-is-there-an-img-size-limit/#findComment-1065501073 Share on other sites
Link2012
Haha, extract your entire gta3.img to Mod Loader, clear the img and fun. I'd not do that since the idea behind Mod Loader is to keep your game clean and not messed, but well... bojeddr32
@Zire I'll try, but not I won't take the risk now. Tomorrow is June 2, and school time, so maybe I'll extract them and start easily modding Thanks for the info. @LINK/2012 I agree. Even it is used for running mods without replacing in gta3.img, I wanted my gta3.img fine, and not crashable. My only purpose is to basically run the 2 mods, and I'm finished Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/712278-is-there-an-img-size-limit/#findComment-1065502865 Share on other sites
