I didn't know Business Battle vehicles couldn't be locked on to. I took a Technical from some MC president last night and he gave chase on an Oppressor MKII, firing missiles left and right but he kept missing.

I like that, it adds to the challenge IMO:

despite popular belief, it does rain at night in GTA Online.

Not on the regular weather cycle it doesn't. And because you need to drink Macbeth at night while it's raining to get the UFO cutscene, whatever you're referring to is interesting and you should post more :)

It most certainly does rain at night in Online, and has atleast as far back as 2017. There's been multiple reports of it since Smuggler's Run, both of normal rain and thunderstorms. It's rare, of course, but it happens.

I took screenshots of it yesterday just in case.

Yeah but it's not on the regular 16-day cycle so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is interesting. I have personally seen night storms, both while in solo sessions and in public (though I do recall one time in a solo it started raining instantly, which I assume was a real glitch). Not being a codewalker myself, I don't have any understanding of the weather system backend, but I would imagine there's some variability to it beyond the fixed variety. Of course, with cases of people with entirely different clientside weather, I'm sure there's still many unknowns and unexpected oddities.

It's just silly that people perpetuate the myth of "no rain at night" (as well as "it rains every day"). It's just not true, even if the conditions are somewhat difficult to meet.

Today I learned that the GPS now show illegal ways to get to certain places. For example it now shows a shortcut from the farmhouse bunker to the highway.

Here's a couple:

taken after midnight

taken after the 4:00 am cutoff for sourcing blue & yellow Sentinels

I see it rain at night relatively often on PC.

Maybe a quarter of the number of times it rains during the day.

How to make it rain at night: start an I/E source mission where you have to drive the car or start a bunker sale.  🙂

Don't know if mentioned but I realized a few months ago you can auto aim in certain vehicles with cinemtaic camera like the Rhino. Might be known I just never realized it worked that way but it's useful watching another player from any angle as well. Sticks to mission waypoints as well from pretty far away sometimes.

Most of them are just normal pedestrian models i think, but the special ich ones like Claude, john and niko have a model too.

But they don't have hands and legs.

I noticed they gave them their walks to an extent with what they have available like in their games for the most part, Claude has his gangster strut walk like in 3 lol. Well similiar anyway might be a default in this game, yes I checked Claude out many times but it was study no other reasons he's my favourite character. I have that doll of him (personal reasons) but still I respect his character and he looks a lot like me uh no mindless killing for me tho...

Oo

Other players in the lobby won't notice the rain as well?

No, I meant that I can go into my bunker to sell when it's cloudy, and it's raining when I come out, or as I come out of the TByte to source a car I have to drive it'll be raining.

One of the worst is when you're selling from the nightclub. The Speedo Custom is slippery as fresh dogcrap on dry pavement. In the rain it's brutal!

It was better for a while when they added some mass to it, but it feels nerfed a bit again: the darned plow blades catch on everything!

That's the catch, night rains are so often on PC that I only took 1 or 2 screens after people told me that it's actually rare. Bunker sales are indeed increasing the probability, here it is:

It's well past midnight, it's not a solo session and there was no cheaters there, the session is whitelisted.

Yep, Agent 14 loves you to do the slip N slide when selling!

=====================================================

I know this is relatively common knowledge, but newer players may not know that you get a lot more chances to get rare items when sourcing crates if you're focusing on crate runs.

I filled 5 large warehouses on character 1 and got 5 rare items over the course of that spree.

I've traded my 2 small warehouses for 2 more large warehouses on character 2 and started filling them, have gotten 2 more rare items since.

The Deluxo can dodge a Stromberg missile while in the air. These missiles have the same accuracy as the MKII Broomstick. Probably just a 1 in a million kind of thing though - I don't see it reliably dodging them.

Yesterday I realized, while wanting to move my Oppressor to another garage to make room for three new bikes in my MC Clubhouse (Shotaro, Hakuchou Drag, Vortex), that I could change my MOC layout from ”Command Center + Vehicle and Weapon Workshop” to ”Command Center + Living Quarters + Personal Vehicle Storage”, and put my Oppressor there.

Now I can access it through the MOC in the interaction menu, just like I do with the Mk2 through the Terrorbyte! My OCD was overjoyed with this discovery, finally some puzzle pieces fitting together (unlike most of the stuff in this game).

Maybe needless to say, but I no longer needed my ”Vehicle + Weapons Workshop” in the MOC since I’ve gotten the Avenger and the Terrorbyte. But I only arrived at this brilliant solution yesterday! I love how it makes so much sense, lol 😂

The MOC garage spot is where I put my Stromberg...One hell of a time saver when I want to call it to deal with flying pests.

Does the vehicle in there have a cooldown?

Sorry my man but that was just luck, something messed up the tracking. I tried to use the exact same tecnique to dodge missiles (i still drive the delorean lul) and it always fail.

Is night rain just a PC and offline thing?

After 496d 5h 30m on xbox, I've never seen it.

It's starts after dawn pretty often, around 8-9 and if it rains during the day it always goes as the sun sets.

It's PC vanila Online, no mods or anything beyond IP whitelist to filter the randoms who otherwise will join the session. All the game files are unmodified, nothing is injected. I have a hypothesis, that the rain on consoles is nerfed due to possible performance reasons, but who knows. It indeed rains much more often at night on PC than I've ever experienced on console. It happens so often, that as I said, I don't pay attention anymore.

More of a general one than anything, but I didn’t realise until recently that a “Nokota” was a wild horse. I thought R* had used a generic Japanese sounding word and never gave it much thought. But of course, the plane is based on the Mustang so the connection should have been obvious.

R* did add ambient music to races. You hear it when you switch off the Radio. It is annoying and so wrong.

Is it possible to switch off?

Yeah, its annoying indeed. In player created races the creator can set the background track or turn it off completely. The only other way to not have music is to turn the music slider off in settings.

This is correct.

I had this for a few days in freeroam on PS4, the framerate goes down a little bit when the lobby is crowded (not that it doesn't with normal lobby) now if you ask me I don't care about that as long as I have this fantastic looking weather in my game and a rainy night is no different. but it is what it is I guess.

Unfortunately the morons at Rockstar decided to patch it.

Rockstar: hey, lets add easter eggs that can only be obtained after 600 bunker sales and passing out from MacBeth.

Dev: K, how should we implement it?

Rockstar: gotta be raining at night.

Dev: but it doesn't rain at night...

Rockstar: exactly.

Edited by REXX
Its rubbish that consoles can't handle rain at night as during the weather transfer glitch it worked fine.

Someone once said it doesn't rain at night that often because the rain and the lights (cars, signs ... etc) don't play well with each other when it comes to syncing between players in freeroam.

It does rain at night on consoles, but outside freeroam (races, CMs, DMs ... etc)

If you hang around in a time-locked Contact Mission long enough, it'll rain. I took this shot during Hack and Dash last year (Xbox, no performance issues).

In contact missions amount of players and props is reduced, so it won't hit as bad as it could, but I don't think that rain affects performance enough to justify cutting it out. It's beyond me while it's rare.
