Never realised just how good the combination of day/night cycles are in this game, nor how well-integrated they are with the already-hugely-impressive lighting - but while trying to take a decent outdoor shot of one of my cars today, I had real difficulty in getting a good result, because the shadow of a signpost kept moving in the way.

Granted, the marginally over-the-top speed (those shadows really shift!) is the effect of the accelerated time of each in-game day, but still, the overall result is really impressive when you sit back and really take it all in. Basically, it's another great example of the attention to detail/immersion/verisimilitude R* was going for with the new HD-era Los Santos. Can't wait to see the HD re-release, with the added effects and improved textures (particularly on a decent high-end PC rig - here's hoping they don't screw the pooch with the port...).

LOL It won't be a port. If anything the game as it is on 360 and PS3 is a port from how it was made (on a PC).

I don't know if this has already been said here but I noticed that there are atleast two (haven't found third yet) Devin Weston houses in SA. Second one is in Winewood Hills at the lake. Very good view to the city and if ever they make all the houses sellable, that would be house I want!

If they made all the houses 'sellable' it would be a waste of time. Seeing as no players own the houses then how are we to sell them? However it would be nice if they made most if not all of the properties purchasable.

... Hey, smartass, everything in the game is "OLD!"

It's been in the game since release. The thread is called "Stuff you've only noticed now", not "Point out that things are old just because you've seen it before but somebody else has not".

Try contributing something else apart from dense comments.

Cheers!

Yes but this thread is for sharing uncommon but useful and/or interesting details, tips and tricks. We don't need a picture of every building or tree you never noticed before.

The trunk on my z type opened and it has a spare wheel

Have only seen it once since November!

Now this is something interesting that not many people could have known about.

The flags on the back of The Liberator move quite nicely in the wind as well. But I think MrWhiskers meant that there is no actual wind in the game so we can't really say that they're moving with the wind realistically. Not that it really matters.

I thought OP was implying that the flag he posted was the only one in the game or something. Every flag I've ever seen has looked like it was blowing in a breeze... You might find flag poles in people's gardens; I recall a USA flag at a house near Trevor's trailer. The golf course also has a series of national flags. A few can be seen here:

Eating snacks while in cover mode is one of the most important survival techniques to learn. I'm surprised that hasn't been fixed.

"if its not broke, dont fix it"

thing i noticed: everyone f*cking haaaaaaaaaaaaates adders. no matter what color they are.

chadders, fine, blow them up. but when people blow up regular or specially painted adders just because it is one.. thats just being a hater. too broke to afford the fat ugly car, so you gotta blow it up.

shame.

I actually like Adders but I don't own one..not sure why, not a huge fan on super cars either way...except for the vacca just because I love the look of it...have a Zebtorno for racing and a Turismo...not a fan of anything chrome really...some secondary chrome is nice. Don't know why the hate on Adders. :/

Cause typically douches drive adders and besides anyone good at the game knows the entity is and always has been better than the adder.

The radio goes static when you enter a tunnel or go under a bridge - like real life. Also, you can't see players' dots when they are under a tunnel and vice versa.

Roronoa Zoro

If you click the siren 3 times it turns it on but mutes it for you, sounds normal to anyone else and traffic gets out of your way without having to hear it constantly.

Putting 1 sticky on each back door of an armored truck gets you a full payout, more then pays for the extra sticky.

oh, i never tried that, whats the full payoff anyway? people used to say that shooting in the middle of the doors with a shotgun gave full payoff too, but it doesnt, still random, lol

They updated it, before if you used 2 auto shotgun rounds between the handles the doors opened with no wanted level, but now it is sparatic. Full payout is $10-15k.

Also many may not know, when you "share" after a robbery you only share from the last bag you picked up. So a 50% share would be half of one bag. If there are only say 2 bags, and you share 100%, it would actually be half (so a $9k robbery would be $4,500 a bag, so 100% share would be 1 bag, of $4,500). I always share 100% if im with a buddy because there is always 2 or more bags.

I noticed this bums sign today and cracked up, it's like Rockstar trolling the freezing issue :)

As you can see on the pic he's close to the Rooftop Rumble garage. On the road that passes Mors mutual and the RR garage.

RB does the same as A when driving (handbrake or tight turn in a boat or yaw when jumping) - useful when you've got the phone open.

That there's actually 2 amphitheater's in the game. I always knew about the Vinewood Bowl but I never realized there was another one right by it. I have no idea how I missed it seen as I've drove past it countless times.

Sir Michael

You can stand in a moving boat. Extremely useful for when you're in a mission where you're being chased by other boats.. RPG's and MG's ftw.

Saw a Bobcat towing a trailer the other day. Stood in it and let the NPC drive me around for a bit. Didn't know you could do that.

At building sites, the top layers of the stacks of breezeblocks and cement bags can be shot at, they make a nice dust explosion when they go.

Works best with minigun & assault shotgun.

actually use it more so I can still control the camera while driving myself

but did you seriously just find this out now?

Weird thing I noticed while playing a survival, but teargas seems to disable auto-lock when you're behind the smoke. Now, I didn't actually get to test this with a player, so if anyone can confirm this that'd be great.

You can?! Every time I try this my character just dives out of the boat

You know you can swap lock-on targets with L1/LT on the buzzard or jet? or that all helicopters can float on the sea surface?

You serious?? Because I've crashed my fair share of helis into the ocean if I'm remembering correctly...

Stopping the boat should prevent this...

Yep. I use it all the time for CCO3.

Mhmm! Don't press Y/Triangle when you board the boat though! You can walk around and take cover on the inside of certain boats, but you'll fall overboard when you get hit by hard ocean waves though.

I think you're right.

I tear gassed the rooftop rumble garage and was wondering why i wasn't locking on to anyone.

looking through tear gas with a sniper scope causes your framerate to drop to zero, lol

mmm chocolate

This one is pretty helpful:

When being chased by NOOSE in the black Grangers, with the guys hanging off each side with SMGs....if you make them take a jump high enough, the ones that are hanging on have to let go.

I found this out by going off-road over a hill/jump while looking in my rear view mirrow (behind me) trying to shoot the NOOSE Granger while in the air. Saw the guys bail and scream and die upon impact.
