Playing Missions on Hard in Free Aim nearly made me kill myself. [long

So I spent nearly two hours trying to do this one mission on hard in free aim and it was the single most infuriating nearly two hours of my entire life. It was one where you had to steal a trailer from a facility type place in the desert and drive it to a boat house. All in under six minutes. I am now thoroughly convinced that Rockstar don't understand game design properly (at least not shooter mechanics).

Ok, so to start off, the framerate is utterly atrocious and has some of the worst input latency I have ever seen, and because of this, aiming is like trying to drag a dead elephant with your pinky across the screen. Making this issue worse is the fact that every enemy can shoot their laser assault rifles that NEVER miss as soon as they have a line of sight. To add to this there was more than 20 of them.

The only thing the appalling AI know to do is to either run straight at you when they see you, or strafe directly left or right when they can't. This results in having to wait behind a corner and shoot them whilst they all run out, and when eight of them start coming out at a time you literally cannot do anything. And for some reason you have to shoot nearly an entire clip into their bodies on the ground.

I eventually realized that I wasn't going to be able to out-gun them (at least not in under 6 minutes). I tried about 10 times to just run for the truck and try and drive out quickly. That didn't work.

The only way I could get this trailer out of this facility is by literally having to exploit the truly godawful AI by luring them out away from the facility and then driving back to get the truck before they could come back. I succeeded in doing this and drove towards the boathouse which was miles away.

On the way to the boathouse there are enemies that attack you on motorbikes. I couldn't shoot any of them because for some reason when they get too close to the truck my guy decides to defy the laws of physics, and somehow bend his bullets so the they hit the top of the trailer. Bear in mind this is a big freight trailer type truck, so this literally defies the laws of physics. Luckily it didn't matter because after ten seconds of following me they would crash into the wall, and the game would spawn another bike ahead. This biker gang literally must of had about 100 guys in total at their disposal.

So I finally reach the boathouse with only 30 seconds left. God knows how you were meant to kill those guys at the facility AND drive this truck to the boathouse all in under 6 minutes (and I'm a fairly good driver, I have won 86 out of 138 races in online races).

The final thing I have to to is defend this area from waves of enemies, and I assume that would be the mission end. I get to the final two last guys, and the game decides that I haven't had enough frustration this evening and chooses to LITERALLY MAKE A GUY INVINCIBLE. He was literally running towards me firing his shotgun as I shot one and a half magazines into his head and chest. He didn't fall over or anything. He just ran at me, at eventually killed me. I swear to God I almost slit my wrists.

Ah it feels so good to get that out. I sincerely hope that Rockstar get some 3rd person shooter experts on their team before GTA 6 comes out. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a game. It was simply flaw after flaw after flaw. My jaw could not have hit the floor any more.

Ahhh, I am so done with this game.

Hail Sithis

This is the Trevor mission called Out of Harmony

Played it a few times and I think the hardest part of it is getting to the destination before time runs out D:

Never tried to play it in free mode though, seems like a nightmare :p

What I do though when I get to the last part is climb up on the huge boat that's sitting on the ground and crouch against the railing on it while shooting all the guys that come over

OP.... This is what Free Aim is like. And that mission is ruff without AA or any back up. Thats not the mission you wanna play alone. You at least need a bullet proof car.

My advice.. Come in from the back and use smoke grenades.... and use alot. Just make it rain smoke all over.

Once the smoke starts to spread go in blazing and snatch the truck... and GTFO.

It's not that ridiculous...I've done it solo on FA. You just have to be very quick and precise. Some things actually require skill.

I did nearly do it (I assume) but the second to last guy was literally invincible.

moral of the story: Use auto aim and complete the mission 3 times in the amount of time it would take you to do it 1 time without auto aim. 30% extra rp is so not worth the annoyance.

True.

Plus, you have no chance against enemies with Super Auto Aim who can shoot extremely straight to your slightly uncovered elbow with 500 meters blind-shot - and then you're dead.

thats why no one plays free aim but this mission is ridic, its hard to pass even in auto aim. the truck is too slow for the time and route they give you, ive never passed it without looking at the map and planning your own route taking shortcuts, lol! Rockstar must be a buncha morons the way they have some missions set up. I got no problem with them being hard and challenging, thats what makes them fun but what sucks is when you spend a sh*tload of time playing a hard mission and you only get 4000$ and 1000rp but you can get 18K$ and 4K rp from doing rooftop rumble in 3 minutes what f*cking sense does that make to anyone I ask? would be way better if they payed out based on difficultly and length of mission. The ones that are the most fun take the longest but no one likes to play them cause they dont pay anything, you can spend more in ammo than you get paid for completion, lol!

This should have been a TLDR at the end of the first post for sure

Id hope if GTA Online makes its way to ps4 that the enemies are given a proper ai rather then the auto aim shot thats uneffected by recoil and such. Until then just may as well use traditional aim on missions tbh.

...free aim isn't for everyone

And yet the people who play it seem to feel the need to push it down everyones throat...

And they think they're the kings of GTA Online as if they can really shoot in real life like a goddamn cowboy.

I love free aim... I wish they would drop the auto aim lobby... AA is not fun nor do you get the feeling of accomplishment... I mean where is the fun in just hitting L1 and shooting??? free aim is where the truly skilled players dwell..

you should try joining an auto aim lobby once and just hitting L1 and shooting. You wont get very many kills, haha!

AFP Phat Packs

Practice, practice, practice. Or, Leave free aim to the skilled players, no offense.

And we do love shoving it down peoples throats. I never understand why there's any sh*t talk in auto-aim. "I'm better and letting the game aim for me than you!" Doesn't make any sense.

I've never really fallen for peer pressure, but it sounds like a horrible reason to play free-aim. 25% RP bonus to get killed for 2 hours on a low pay mission just sounds like bad planning. And a terribly unfun, pride-filled failure of a session. Edited by dvntsvnt

lol auto aim is free RP. It is so easy that it is ridiculous.

This game was balanced to "try" to be a challenge for auto-aim (it isnt).... And be a nuisance for free-aimers....

Ive shown my badassery already by making all missions in free-aim and in hard.... And yes, sometimes it makes you kill yourself... But when you emerge victorious, it feels good.... It feels like cumming in R*'s face

"heres your f*cking free-aim, now swallow it"

(ok it think i overdid that post)

Funny. Have you tried it though?

I don't think so.

Clearly he has not if he thinks you just press L1 and shoot, lol
Red Lynx 23

It always has for us. Just after the mission starts you get a text off Trevor saying the customer is getting nervy and the timer kicks in

Not to threadjack, but you gotta love how both one Cartel guy, and Wei Chang's son and translator are in Sandy Shores without anyone having their back. Especially with the random event of the redneck with the taser, who tells you he was getting lonely before he tases you and you wake up on the train tracks in your underwear.
