Super Ramp Races, what do you think of them?

I like the super jumps where it's just a line of jumps that goes up into the sky. Everyone else usually falls off it which results in a win for me. But I'd much rather have a regular race without jumps at all.

These "super ramp" races are just as dumb and un-creative as the other ramp races. Just use the f*cking streets that rockstar gave you in GTA V and create well-placed barriers to make corners challenging.

 

There could be SO MANY more in-depth, realistic races if these 14 year olds put the effort they do in making these sh*tty "I can do a half backflip and land flat on the ground" races into making an actually fun race without retarded ramps everywhere, GTA would be a better place. But I digress, it's not a better place.

Its just another reason I stopped racing, GTA:O had such great potential at being an amazing racing game, but the potential got squandered starting with catchup, no penalties for deliberate collisions and plummeted to its death with the introduction of the Creator, and Rockstar seemingly only picking those races 12 yr olds enjoy to be verified. I guess ive just outgrown the target market.

 

I think the target market has shifted somewhat

from people who like gta games to well every1

they're trying to appeal to casuals more and more with every development, you can see it in everything from cash cards and autoaim to the ability to skip missions after failing an X amount of times.

 

gta games used to be pretty hardcore lot of people couldn't even complete all the missions.

I voted NO but after seeing that video I must say it does look kind of fun and I sort of do want to try it out.

but I can also see that it's just plain crazyness and won't be very interesting for more than a few races

so I stand by my answer and say I prefer "normal" races.

If GTA:O had a Free Roam stunt mode lobby or some type of lobby you could enter where cops, PvP, and deaths were turned off completely (also disabling robberies or other ways to make money, just to balance it out so people couldn't farm cash with no risk of death), I would love the hell out of ramps. But I hate trying to have a competitive race only to be screwed over because the physics in the game can't figure out how to let me jump a ramp without spinning sideways for no reason.

 

I LOATHE the motorcycle race with the long line of water ramps. It's luck and nothing more. You get that one chance when the waves line up the ramps just right and you might make it across. Stupid.

I like to keep an open mind with races, but ramp races always catch me skeptically so I go in with a bad attitude and sometimes I just can't play them.

 

Most of the races I can just drive around the ramps and win.

 

In all the time I've done them I've had one ramp race that was in a Playlist so I couldn't Bookmark that was made amazingly well and I would've played it quite a bit as it was a lot of fun and even good for first time players which was absolutely shocking to me.

 

I had one other that was almost there, but needed a significant amount of work. The track layout was spot on though and I suggested he stick with it as it was a fast race too, which most aren't. The biggest problem was if catch-up was on the leader couldn't make the jumps and it required Supers so anybody that passed the crashed leader now couldn't make the jumps either. lol

 

Personally, I'm not against them, they're just not for me if they aren't done right.

you get to do them the other way around, from the sky to the bottom, with a lot of fun stuff in between the fall/race.

You know what the beautiful thing about GTA is? You can pretty much do whatever the f*ck you want. It's open world and open ended. You can do normal races, no contact races, bike races, super cars, ramps, rally, smash em up derbies. You can do death matches, missions, be a free roam troll, etc etc. There is legitimately no limit to the different things you can do...and you get to choose on your own, whenever you want.

 

So why kids on this board constantly cry about everything and how this and that is being ruined by whatever is just plain stupid. Don't like big ramp races? Don't do them. That simple. Me personally I love having the option because I find it fun every now and then. When I'm not in the mood for it, I don't play them. Crazy, I know.

it's not that simple

people aren't really complaining about the existence of these races, but about their prevalence in the meta basically

it doesn't seem too bad ATM but I remember times where 9/10 races I joined was jumps jumps jumps or some other retarded sh*t like that.

rockstars verification policy (or lack of) doesn't really help either.

 

now that I think about it, perhaps they should add groups sort of like how on xboxlive you get to choose between casual, pro gameretc.

why not have a setting which says like serious racer, chradder driving maniac, crazy track fanatic etc.

if you choose serious racer you're going to be grouped with other serious racers on a technical track and settings to match (catch up off etc)

and if you choose chradder driving maniac you'll be grouped with other chradders on some straight highway track so you can ram eachother as much as you want

and if you choose crazy track fanatic you'll get a track like the one in the OP

 

or perhaps not even a fixed group you belong to but certain tags you can add to a race which can be used to filter out certain races or lobbies

I agree, it's all about open world freedom, and I'm also pretty sure that these ''super ramp'' races will be over soon. It's a hype at the moment, already over it's peak, and on the way down again.

the stuff people did with ramps in gta iv freemode is way better than anything i raced on in this gta.

I like them as much as I like races that heavily employ ramps for no other reason than leljumps. Not at all.

 

Played the one that blew up on Youtube a little while ago and it was f*cking terrible. But if you can enjoy it, more power to you.

Actually, we can all be happy and race what we want if Rockstar got their heads out of their ass, stopped promoting youtube glitchers and stunters (like we care they reverted bike mechanics for the "stunt community") but first of all, categorize races (i.e. Stunts/Jumps, Normal (Dipping in, Cutting Coroners) and Normal (Hard) or some shizz), then when we join a quick job: #1 not join a lobby with only 1 person everytime (fix the matchmaking), and #2: when you join any job, PLZ let us select categories of races we want to join, are they not available? Drop me back to freemode plz, still not playing Jumps, Jumps, Jumps...

I just wanted to say that, as a creator of these super ramps, I know how much time it takes to create a good super ramp. I usually rebuild a ramp up to five times, just to get it absolutely right! But I also know that most people just build a ramp once and then go with it.
Here's a ''super'' race that I created, it took me 3 days to make, every ramp was rebuild at least twice, and now I'm pretty sure it's a smooth race where there's an 80% chance of a succesful jump for each ramp.

 

 

I also take the time to listen to feedback and improve the race when needed.
After playing this race I usually get one or two messages of people wanting to be my friend, or complimenting me for the race I created. This tells me that I did my job right. I've got 3 more super races published, and about 10 more saved that I haven't published yet, why? Because the ramps aren't good enough. I could publish those 10 right away, and people would like them. But I need them to be as perfect as can be before I publish them.

 

It really isn't easy to make these races, and calling them uncreative is an insult to those wo take the effort to make them good.

OP these mega jump races are beyond doubt the only way to race now. It's like GTA races mixed it with some crazy theme park.

 

I have a playlist called "f*ck man awesome races!" which has about 8 awesome races with mega jumps.

 

I need some more though. All the ones I got are from one thread on this site
