Turning off the vehicle engine

  1. 1. Should this feature return in the next update?

Why would anyone vote no?

Also whether your guy leaves the engine running depends on your stance, so having a Car chase with police, shooting the air before entering, all put you in combat stance so your guy leaves the engine running when leaving., not defending it, just explaining it. A lot of people don't seem to understand

Yeah definitely. I know it's silly but I was a bit surprised this feature wasn't in the game. I'd love it if they did include it again.

Me too op. I was absolutely certain we would have this feature forever for the rest of the franchise's lifetime.

My disappointment and shock when I realized they removed it in this game was hard to believe. I really am butthurt over this removal of a past game feature. It's so simple and yet such a powerful tool for the GTA world and especially so in a game that glorifies robbing stores that I just can't believe they removed it.

I'm praying that if these fools at Rockstar never update their game to fix this issue that PC modders can.

You do know people can forget about such features as those? When I first played IV I though I would be able to stab people in the neck just like SA, I was wrong but then I just moved on.

How does this contribute anything worthwhile to the discussion? Please just be quiet.

My thoughts exactly.

I'd love to hear a decent reason.

One of those things that just seams was changed for no obvious reason

Well at least In IV R* done the right thing by leaving it out all together instead of trying to implement it in the most illogical and retarded way possible like the way leaving the engine running in V is done.

I've always believed if you're going to do some thing do it right or don't do it at all.

Yeah and I thought I'd be able to crouch in V. :rampage::rampage::rampage::rampage::die::die::r*::panic::facedesk::facedesk::miranda::miranda::karmaeater:

Pardon my overuse of emotes.

I'd love to crouch too, but atleast they used the crouch button to activate stealth mode instead. It was replaced with something useful.

What have the used in the place of the button to leave the engine running?, Nothing at all. It was pointless to remove this feature and put nothing in it's place.

Why couldn't both be there, crouching and stealth mode. To crouch you would tap the button, to enter stealth mode you would hold down the button.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers.

The ability to turn the engine off is great but was better in IV. Sometimes it's just a better choice to leave the engine running.

In GTA 5, you can't leave the engine running...

You can sometimes, but rarely intentionally. I think you have to be in "combat" for it to work (notice how your character moves differently when you're engaging in a gun fight? That's combat mode and it's different from when you're just running around normally). I've tried to leave my Coquette running for a quick store robbery getaway, but couldn't do it... then I've abandoned my car while running from the police, hid in an alley, and when I came back to my car it was still running with the lights on and everything.

This seems like a feature that you'll never know how useful it is until it is taken out. I don't think anyone said much about it back in GTA IV other than a nice easter egg feature, but it really is so useful that you wonder why it was (mostly) cut out from the final game among other features, like YOGA for example.

I don't know. Back in my IV days I used to park a car behind a laundromat and keep the engine on, then kill everyone inside, rob the cash register and bail... Having the engine on in a situation like this

(As well as the assassination missions) was a big advantage! Having this feature taken out in V, despite the game having assassination missions, is just dumb. You want a quick getaway, to just hop into your car and drive off... But instead... you get the point.

Just waiting someone to connect this to cash cards somehow...

Voted yes. It was in IV, where it did have some uses, but was mostly a touch of realism. In V, it would be twice as useful, as after robbing a store it would help a lot. I'm not going to dance a small dance next to my car if I wanted to leave it running.

That could of worked I think.

But just because something works, doesn't mean it will be put in the game. Hence this topic about the engine

Useful? No. Stealth mode isn't stealthy as you are standing. Crouching is more stealthy and should be the stealth mode.

Leaving the engine running in needed to role play a cop at night you need to keep your headlights on and the spotlight on while pulling people over and the only way to do that is to leave the engine running.

They need it to be like IV. a short tap to exit with the engine on, hold the button to kill the engine and exit the car.

It would make getting away from stores after robbing them, or robbing armored trucks(if you have a faster car to hop into after getting the case) easier and faster..

Sometimes the cars will stall before starting...

Way I see it, if Rockstar don't return it to us players officially, then modders will eventually on PC.

I'd really prefer the native implementation but f*ck it. Better than nothing at all.

People have voted no to be 'different' I guess...done it for the sake of it.

Makes them look stupid in my opinion.

I was quite pissed about this cut actually, that when i got in a car in GTA V, i spam those R2 and L2 like crazy. BTW did the faster-hotwire feature in GTA IV got removed too?

If you exit the car the engine turns off. I would rather have the option to turn it off.

Yep, there was a lot of scenarios that I wanted my car engine to be left on such as being chased by police. It was a bit dull to remove it, and I do hope they return it in the future.

Email them. It wont be hard to fix. Rockstar told us they are listening to our suggestions in the business pack. (Just like they included the inventory for SP) it wouldn't hurt to push for it :)

That's a good question actually. I still do the same as well.

I don't think it makes a difference, but if you want to do that then by all means go ahead.
