Turning off the vehicle engine

  1. 1. Should this feature return in the next update?

Recommended Posts

Hello. Do you guys remember how In GTA IV, if you would hold down Triangle(PS3), A(360) or F(By default for PC) While inside a stationary vehicle, Niko would turn the engine off and step out of the vehicle, however if you just press the button, he would just get off, keeping the engine and lights on. I was certain this feature would be return in V!

This little feature was important for me for planning a quick getaway from any situation where you walk aside from your vehicle to do something, and then speed off once you're done.

So how come despite, all the fixes and patches released so far Rockstar seems to skip adding this feature again and again?

What do you guys think?

Definitely.

Why on earth would they change it from something that works pretty well to something as stupid as getting out and punching the air.

That doesn't even work half the time I try it.

Anyway it's too much wasted time and effort

Email them about it. Keep aggravating them and I'm sure eventually they'll add it.

It's a hidden feature and in order to keep the engine running with you not in it, you have to fire a gun in the air, get in and get out quickly. Works 100% of the time compared to just punching the air, just make sure the gun is silenced. However, I agree with the fact that it's very inconvenient and Rockstar should just make it like it was before.

The ability to turn the engine off is great but was better in IV. Sometimes it's just a better choice to leave the engine running.

In GTA 5, you can't leave the engine running...

Then risk getting a wanted level, which at times, I don't feel like losing cops, especially not over trying to leave a car engine on.

I miss how in Gta iv , you can get out of your car and the radio and everything would still be running .. Hate how in Gta V I have to be in the car to hear the music :\

They made it more realistic. Why would you get out of a car and not turn the engine off? It is implemented in GTA V, just get out of the car.

While playing I've noticed there is a small problem... random NPCs in the street will run towards your vehicle and grab it, simple as that, and all they require is the engine of your vehicle to be turned on. And that NPC has the mentality of an ambulance driver in eirlier games.

Well of course, which is why it's supposed to be hidden and inconvenient.

Why would you get out of a car and not turn the engine off?

so you can make a quick getaway and not have to wait for the engine to start especially when the car is damaged and takes a few seconds to start

But what if an NPC steals your vehicle? They tend to do that a lot.

It's so stupid, especially since this game is centered around heists. I hate having to wait 2-3 seconds for the engine to start just because I had to get out for a second to grab a suitcase or something, all while getting destroyed by the cops. I really hope this feature gets added with the heists, it would just make sense. Especially if there will be solo heists where you won't be able to have someone waiting in the getaway vehicle.

Oh boy, they skipped features like leaving the engine on for a quick getaway, but instead added these super-useful features like yoga! How great!

Seriously, they need to add that GTA IV system in the next update.

I'd also like to leave the car-door open as opening the door takes as long as starting the car.

For this reason I often use convertables but my character sometimes still opts to open the door rather than hopping in. Knocking the driver's-side door completly off works too but leaves one exposed and vulnerable to gunfire.

Not true. Once while getting out of a car Franklin did leave the engine on, and didn't close the door. The music was playing quietly just like in IV.

Actually, I've manage to leave the car engine running when exiting a vehicle. It primarily happens when I am being chased by the cops and I hop out of the car to hide on foot somewhere. Its happened a bunch of times. Like chrisscorsese88 said, its more of a hidden feature if anything.

Call me an idiot, but that feature is in GTA V.....

You're an idiot.

I'd love the engine running feature to return as sometimes I like to take pictures of my cars with their headlights or taillights on. I hate hoping out of the car just to leave the engine running. It sometimes injures me and/or damages the car.

I really don't understand why it's not setup like GTA IV instead of shooting a gun into the air or air punch like a f*cking idiot.

In GTA IV all you had to do was to hold down triangle/Y if you wanted to turn the engine off or lightly tap it to leave it running. It should've been a no brainer.

Like I said I honestly thought it would just be passed on from game to game.

The more I come to GTA Forums the more I am left utterly bewildered by replies like this. I dunno if this place is just filled with alot of jesters & people playing the fool & such or if these folks are actually legit.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, I really don't.

FEATURE TO LEAVE YOUR CAR ENGINE ON, AM I RIGHT?

IF I AM RIGHT, WHAT DO I WIN?

Also, voted Yes.

I voted yes.

I cannot comprehend why such a simple and effective feature was even removed to begin with! I do not want to have to punch the air or shoot a gun which runs the risk of me being killed by overly agressive or over-powered police.

Cheers.

Sure, if they fix it.

In IV, only you turned off your engine. It was still running for everyone else.
