What Happened to the Unique Vehicles?

Lethal Vaccine

This topic is for anyone who is interested in unique vehicles since GTA III.

No, this is not a unique vehicle guide like you see in the Cheats and Tricks subforum.

I made this topic because now that I am going backwards and replaying the PS2 era games and obtaining proof vehicles, I've noticed there is jacksh*t in GTA IV, TLaD, TBoGT, and GTA V. Is this because of Online (Wouldn't surprise me, Online ruined everything in my eyes)? Or does anyone else have a better explanation as to why Rockstar has stopped putting unique, one time only, mission-specific, proof vehicles into the game?

All you have in GTA V is unique colors and license plates. But tbh, this does not give me a hard on like an indestructible vehicle does which was present in GTA III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS. Ever since GTA IV (HD era and the start of that horsesh*t Online) things have been getting more and more weak with GTA games and unique vehicles.

...What is going on?

I think they stopped as part of they're movement to make the game more realistic. GTA IV was the start of the new era, so I can understand that other games in a more realistic era won't have abilities either. You can't blame GTA Online for something that was started by GTA IV.

It's most likely to make the game realistic or to prevent players from exploiting the vehicles to pass missions more easily. I see no reason for them to remove proofing ability though.

why you no satisfied with lawnmower?

pgS4XAK.jpg?1

...You mean the lawnmower which can bearly make it up a CURB? :p It's unique, sure, but it's garbage.

I think they stopped as part of they're movement to make the game more realistic. GTA IV was the start of the new era, so I can understand that other games in a more realistic era won't have abilities either. You can't blame GTA Online for something that was started by GTA IV.

Actually, in GTA IV, there is an exploit with your Online girlfriends which can make ANY car or ANY helicopter BP/DP/EP...So GTA IV had the ability to have these vehicles. Rockstar just didn't add them in like they used to in missions where you would try and "collect your prize" with a mission failure like in the first 5 GTA's for PS2 (III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS)...But yeah, in my GTA IV save I got 10 BP/DP/EP vehicles. They show bullet holes and dents, but the cars will NEVER smoke, never catch fire, never blow up and you can fire as many RPG's into the vehicle as you want and it won't do sh*t, either.

Still, though, GTA is not GTA without proof vehicles. It's been a tradition that was going for over a decade and has been running dry as of late. I can see it getting worse, too. GTA will be a game where you simply complete to 100% without worrying about special prizes from missions, I guess. And when this happens, I won't need any new GTA game, tbh...

It's most likely to make the game realistic or to prevent players from exploiting the vehicles to pass missions more easily. I see no reason for them to remove proofing ability though.

Tbh, you gotta be a fool to use one of these proof vehicles for a mission, though. Always a chance to lose it or something happening to it. I always keep such vehicles safe and never use them until after 100% Completion where I do not save the game anymore and can just mess around and turn it off without saving so everything goes back to normal once I re-boot the game when I want.

But I agree, I see no reason to remove these things from the game. By the looks of it, I am not the only one who enjoys this stuff. There is loads of forums and Youtuber's on the Internet who have guides to such vehicles and how to obtain them. It's a big accomplishment learning that a vehicle can be obtained without cheats, whereas it was earlier said to be acquired only through using cheats. It feels good to collect such vehicles in GTA games. Getting to 100% with 0 cheats is actually cake for me. It's not a challenge, it's quite boring, actually. But getting these vehicles is the most challenging part, imo, hence it should be left in the game to give us a challenge and a good feeling once we obtain them...

GTA V is by far the worst game to date that doesn't have jacksh*t inside the game for unique/proof vehicles. GTA IV was bad as well, but a bit better than V. TLaD and TBoGT had a few unique vehicles, too, but just unique, not proof. It stopped with HD era unless you used the girlfriend trick to BP/DP/EP your vehicles in IV.

but there are unique vehicles :miranda:

Yes, there are, but none of these have any special properties like Bullet-Proofing, Damage-Proofing, Fire-Proofing, Explosion-Proofing, etc. All that makes vehicles unique now is their color.

I find it hard to relate it with "realism".

What's so unrealistic to continue the series with those special properties?

I hate to say it, but Rockstar simply want to leave the old school, get rid from 3D era GTA elements, and bring the HD crap more closer to new additions, changes and improvements.

Theres the prison bus, the police buffalo (saw it for the first time ever today, didn't even know it existed), that really old rusty 1840's tractor.

I don know if these count as unique?

If they can be obtained in free-roam, they're not unique.

Unique vehicles are mission-specific and/or have unique color/proofing.

Actually, V has only one completely unique mission-only vehicle in the entire game, and that's the armed JB 700 that allows you to drop spike strips and shoot a gun with unlimited ammo. Rockstar made the mistake of scripting these features into only two missions, and you cannot obtain the armed JB 700 when in free roam, no matter what you do with it in those two missions. Shame on you Rockstar!

Oh I see, and yeah I know I loved that car. I even bought a JB straight after hoping to recreate all of that, but was pretty upset when u realised you can't.

because there is nothing more realistic than super cops trained to kill you even if it means suicide bombing.

this new era blows. its all about making money off the players as long as you can instead of making a fun game to play. I miss the old rockstar that gave us hot coffee instead of the new rockstar that sells you cash cards.

I was in a Police chase yesterday right, and I was taking cover behind a wall so I could still see the Feds driving by the road where I was. There was this massive crowd of people, and wouldn't you know it, this cop literally DROVE right THROUGH the big crowd of people and kept going. Come on now Rockstar, what the f*ck is that? Was it funny? Oh my god I was literally dying, realistic though?

They just made a different system for vehicle proofings in the HD era. I don't know whether they ever intended proofed vehicles to be collectible in the 3 era. The proofings were there to improve the gameplay and to make sure certain vehicles wouldn't be destroyed at certain instances. The new system is better at making vehicles have temporary proofings, so that makes them uncollectable. I think the girlfriend glitch in IV is a wink by R* to the old proofed vehicles though. GTA V has armoring, which is a more 'realistic' approach to proofing.

That's the problem, I know Rockstar said they wanted to create realism, but GTA V is a video game, where anything can happen. If I wanted true realism, I would step outside.

You got Mods now, don't need that Uniqueness.

You got mods now? No. You don't. The only mods out there for GTA V is save editing and it does nothing for proof vehicles. There is no such proof vehicle in V. At least so far nobody found anything. Knowing Rockstar if someone did get their hands on them, they'd patch it...Mark my words.

I find it hard to relate it with "realism".

I completely agree here. I am more into fun over realism. It's fun going full speed in a Damage Proof vehicle right off a cliff knowing that you won't blow your car up like in GTA V the second it hits ground off a huge enough drop, or fly out the windshield (GTA IV, TLaD, TBoGT, GTA V), etc. This realism nonsense is stupid...Yet, they forget seatbelts to prevent flying out the windshield. Either make it 100% realism (like they want) or keep the old school GTA. HD era is a huge let down for me, tbh...

Theres the prison bus, the police buffalo (saw it for the first time ever today, didn't even know it existed), that really old rusty 1840's tractor.

I don know if these count as unique?

I guess you can say it's "unique." But how unique is going to a Prison, getting a 2 star wanted level, and driving away with the Bus? It's not complicated like pushing a blown up AP Savanna from Angel Pine to San Fierro Doherty Garage in San Andreas. Now THAT is a challenge. GTA V has dick on any PS2 era game with proofed vehicles. That Rusty Tractor has a fixed spawn location, like the Prison Bus. It's not unique in the slightest to me, but to others it's considered unique. And the Police Buffalo again, isn't unique to me. Why? Because you can get it again at a fixed spawn location under the bridge in Strawberry near the police impound at night between 8 PM and 7 AM. It alternates spawning with the Unmarked Cruiser, Police Bike, Police Transporter. So if it doesn't spawn, make a loop, and come back. All the stuff in GTA V is worthless compared to any PS2 era GTA...

Actually, V has only one completely unique mission-only vehicle in the entire game, and that's the armed JB 700 that allows you to drop spike strips and shoot a gun with unlimited ammo. It actually has 2 unique vehicles, or 3. Don't forget the Skylift and the Cargo Plane. But again, what fun are these? No fun at all. Magnet doesn't work on the Skylift and the Cargo Plane, similar to the Andromeda in SA can not be stored as it's too damn big. Actually, the Andromeda CAN be stored, but that's besides the point...

But I agree, something like the JB-700 with those spikes and guns would be badass in GTA V, but again...Rockstar took the path of watering this game down. Your last good GTA game with proofed vehicles in VCS, ever since HD era came, this stuff has been wiped off the face of GTA gaming.

Canis Mesa, Offroad.

Coolest looking Canis in the game.

I wonder if there's some way to get invincible vehicles in V that no one has discovered yet? I know it was a while before people figured out the method in IV.

Actually, there is Youtube videos from 2008 and 2009 about those BP/DP/EP vehicles in GTA IV, so it was quite quickly discovered...

There's been a lot discovered in V, but nothing but unique colors and special license plate vehicles. Nothing that interests me whatsoever...

I'm sure if there was a way, Funmw2 would have found it. He's very good when it comes to coding and finding hidden gems in the game files. :p

What about the Snow Asea? There a way to steal it from NY.I know it not fp or bp like cars from the past games but it still pretty unique to have driving around LS.

It's unique. That one surely is unique if you can obtain it. However, Rockstar likes to try and patch stuff like that, going to NY. That's what they do now, take away the fun, add in lame realism. Like Chris said, if I want realism, I'll walk outside. It's a video game...

Considering how long you've been here, I thought you would be smart enough to stay on topic and stop with the insults.

OT: I forgot about the Skylift and Cargoplane, but there's one more unique vehicle I forgot about and that's the Driller from the Big Score (Obvious). You can get it through the Save Editor like you can with the first two mentioned, but obviously the drill itself won't work like the magnet won't work on the Skylift.

That is another thing I was gonna say. The guy who's been here longer with a petty 23 likes (meaning probably nobody likes what he has to say, therefore isn't credible) is trying to argue with me. I don't have time for morons who derail threads.

Also, we forgot about the Merryweather Mesa. I'd say, as of right now the only unique (but not proof) vehicles in the game are Merryweather Mesa, Skylift, Snow NY Vehicles, Driller, and Cargoplane. But..Who's gonna want to store a Driller?! :p Half of these vehicles are useless, just like unique colors and license plates. I am bored with this unique stuff.
