iNero
Rockstar parent company Take-Two recently filed for a trademark on "City Stories," a name which suggests a possible relationship with the Grand Theft Auto series. The trademark in question was filed for on May 15 and lists Take-Two as the owner (which, it should be noted, is always the case with trademarks involving Rockstar games). The application's description provides a very generic, broad list of potential uses for the mark, including "Computer and video game programs and software" and "downloadable computer and video game programs and software." It also lists two other trademarks--those for Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories--as related properties, and its first use as being on October 31, 2006, the date of Vice City Stories' launch in North America. Following the success of the three GTA III-era games (III, Vice City, and San Andreas), Rockstar released two PlayStation Portable spin-offs: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. Both games were eventually ported to the PlayStation 2 and, much more recently, the PlayStation 3 (by way of a PlayStation Network release). Since Vice City Stories' release in 2006, Rockstar has been focused on the mainline entries in the series, save for 2009 DS title Chinatown Wars, which was developed by the same studio as the two City Stories games, Rockstar Leeds. This new trademark may or may not represent any plans Take-Two or Rockstar have for a new game in the City Stories series. It's possible this could be related to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V story DLC we know is coming. In that case, it wouldn't be the first time the name of a GTA game's DLC was filed for without the GTA name present--Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony's trademark application, for instance, contains no mention of the GTA name. Alternatively, the less exciting explanation is that Rockstar and Take-Two may simply be seeking to own the broader City Stories name to go along with the more specific Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories trademarks it already owns. In any event, GameSpot has contacted Rockstar for comment. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-dev-owner-trademarks-city-stories-a-name-used-for-past-gta-games/1100-6419783/

chrisscorsese88
Grand Theft Auto: Los Santos Stories? That doesn't contain the word "City" like in the trademark though, unless it's "Grand Theft Auto: Los Santos City Stories" (as Blood-Is-in-Diamond has stated) so there's a few other possibilities. Grand Theft Auto: Las Venturas City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: San Fierro City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: North Yankton City Stories (hopefully?) and maybe Grand Theft Auto: Carcer City Stories (for those unfamiliar with "Carcer City", it was the setting for Manhunt, a non-GTA Rockstar game, and a mentioned city within GTA and located close to Liberty City). Hopefully one of these games comes to fruition.
Drunken Cowboy
So... new protagonists? It's a step towards repair, I suppose.

I'm not sure what would make it a spinoff, seeing as the "stories" games had identical gameplay to the rest of the series, save for the Empire Building system. Goldn-Bayse
My guess is that Rockstar is going to port GTA LCS and VCS to mobile phones. VIPΣR and Christofchickens

HOW'S ANNIE?
I doubt it's a mobile/Vita port of LCS or VCS since they're already trade marked games, may be wrong though. The thing is though, LS, SF or LV don't really require the word "City" afterwards since they sound fine on their own, as opposed to "Liberty Stories" or "Vice Stories. Maybe we'll be seeing a new city? Really can't say.
iNero
anyone remembers this GTA City of Paradise thing which appeared after GTAV release? maybe its related? Edited May 22, 2014 by iNero
Osho
Could also possibly mean the upcoming story DLC's. An indication that "City Stories" are about M F T. Seems they are planning to release the single player DLC soon.

BLOOD
My Second Take on this is,the trademark could be a entire new IP (set in the GTA Universe) So LCS and VCS are going to be within the GTA and CS Franchises but future game would be title i.e. City Stories:Chicago or City Stories:London etc...that would make sense seeing that T2 and R* want to Trademark the title (even though there have been two games in the GTA Franchise titled"City Stories")...That just my 2nd take on it,but i could be wrong lol. Zello
I hope its something new like Carcer city stories or Capital city stories but it's most likely a port of LCS and VCS to mobile and Vita a guy can dream though right? Ash_735
It's not related to DLC or anything like that, the "City Stories" Brand was brought in around a year ago for the PSN re-release of Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories, Rockstar updated the websites to use this branding logo, it's been around for a while so I'm surprised that it's now considered news, must be related to Take-Two finally getting a trademark on it. theNGclan, chrisscorsese88, Kalvin and 1 other

This is possible, they probably just trademarked the name so no other game company can use "City Stories" in the title. BLOOD
