I May Have Found A Freeze Fix/Solution. (Don't Delete, Everyone Sh

Recently I was having a separate gameplay issue, it was recommended to me to Uninstall all my GTA content aside from story mode saves, unlink my social club account - then reinstall all the content and link my social club again.

 

I did this, deleted all my updates, and my content from the install disc.

 

Upon reinstalling nothing was missing and yesterday I just realize it's been a good 4 days since I've had a freeze, and I play pretty regularly. I thought I was just lucky up until I was in a lobby and everyone started freezing, there were 6 people in my Xbox Live party that all froze one after the other and I was left in the lobby by myself. No freeze.

 

I'd highly recommend everyone try this, and see how it effects their gameplay and freezing - use this thread to report your findings.

unlikely to help, I freeze completely randomly. some days i freeze every 5 minutes and other times i can play for a few days with no problems and nothings changed. I tried all the suggested fixes and after reinstalling i froze within 20 minutes. im pretty sure the cause in on the server side or related to hackers/cheaters. have had WAY less problems so far after the latest patch only freezing once, and very few problems before 3 patches ago where it all started happening constantly.

The whole lobby leaving is actually because your own connection is lagging. It puts YOU into a solo session but shows as if they left and you stayed. Everyone else stays in the session you were in. I proved this by returning to a lobby where everyone disconnected by joining my friend who remained in it. To me they all left but to them only i left. You being the only one left is not proof that their system crashed and yours didn't.

it also lobby splits full lobbies because there is not enough computing power to maintain that much action. ive been split off from my friends and crew from full lobbies many times, ive ended up with some people from the original lobby and hes ended up with the rest.

Based on my experience it seems the lobby host is immune to the freeze glitch, but everyone else is affected.

 

I freeze in a public lobby.

I freeze after my friend invites me to his lobby.

My friend freezes after I invite him.

 

I don't freeze when I play alone.

I love how people are still whining about tanks. I become overly joyed when I see/hear a tank, because if I get to him quick enough it's a free kill.

ive been unable to find a cause. at first i thought it was cheaters freezing me cause I was killing them or random hackers and glitchers causing it but ive froze in missions and on load in and load out screens so it appears totally random. Although i think even in mission you are still tied to the session you were in when you started the mission so perhaps even though you arent actually in the session when the error occurs in that session it still freezes you. It definitely seemed to occur more frequently in lobbies with hackers/glitchers who were screwing with the game session although ive experienced it in lobbies where it didnt appear to have any cheaters though its hard to tell i guess. got to the point if i saw some idiot cheater over level 300 or so id join a dif lobby so there was less chance of freezing.

I'm on ps3 but I haven't had a freeze since the update.

Before the update I could freeze on anything, public, crew, solo lobbies; going into jobs, out of jobs, playing around in the creator. I think I may have even froze once just starting up the online. It was almost as bad as New Vegas at launch.

yea i was nearly positive this was happening to me, but ive froze so many times while not bothering anyone i couldnt be sure. so many damn cheaters in this game it has to be screwing with things and causing issues. one time there was a jackwad ranked 900 flying around in a jet killing people, i hit him with several rockets, even locked and shot him a few times when he flew close enough and he never took any damage at all. He was even bouncing his jet off buildings and the ground without taking damage while trying to kill me cause he was sh*tty pilot so i sent him a message telling him he was a suck ass cheater with no skill and then i mysteriously froze, lol

 

Ive only froze once so far since this latest update so im hoping its mostly fixed, the previous two updates were almost unplayable. sometimes id freeze every 5 minutes and i doubt that was caused by cheaters, happened way to quick and in random sessions.

There may be hackers who can cause freezing, but there is also a genuine freeze glitch on PS3 since the release of the High Life update.

 

My friend and I never had a freeze problem until the current patch, but it now happens with nobody but us two in a lobby.

Whatever 'reasons' the above posts stating - doesn't matter. Whatever the reason is behind freezing it's happening many times during the day (to me and to all my friends). Fact. Period. I've pretty much never had 4 days without freeze since release so if you haven't froze for 4 days that means something. Instead of sidetracking the thread people should focus on testing and getting back with whatever results they have. I'll try.

Now that im thinking off it, when we had the mechanic back i 1.10 i think gta online never froze, well i didnt encourage any freezes, now the mech is gone (johnny who drove away with our cars) i feel that freezes occur more often

They're all bad pilots, all you have to do is fly above a 45 degree angle. The tank can only aim up so much. I can engage multiple tanks from my jet. I really enjoy taking the bounty of people in their tank, they think they're safe Lmao

That isn't a freeze issue. If you try to call in your car at certain spots with makeshift/unsuitable roads, it makes you lag while the vehicle gets delivered.

I have two ps3's and have played on different internet connections from different providers and had the same problems, plus no other game has problems and my internet is super fast. sometimes the game loads 2x as slow as others and when that happens the freezing occurs quit frequently. I can go for days with no problems and some days its almost unplayable freezing every 10 minutes. some players report not having any issues during the previous two patches which is where mine started but they have them now. there is no common consistency to it and i never had the problems prior to 1.11 and i played all the time. gotta be rockstars servers or else they f*cked up the code and cannot figure out how to fix it. its the only thing that makes any sense.
