Any Solutions To Freezing?

Does anyone know how to prevent this awful freezing? I've tried a few things, but none of them work. One of my friends suggested that, when you start to see people leaving one by one, it's time to find a new session because they're most likely freezing.

 

I tried it, but I froze at the loading screen in the cloud LOL. But anyway, does anyone know how to prevent the freezing?

A complete freeze. My entire console locks on me. I have to cut the thing off in order to stop it.

Probably a fluke for me, but I haven't froze since changing to ethernet..................................Yet.

I use wireless and ethernet (when I stream) and it makes no difference for me. I'm guessing it's the way Rockstar, or their vendor, networks users because usually when people freeze it's not just one person, several people freeze at the same time.

When I play in invite only, I never freeze.

 

When I go to public lobby in 5-10 minutes it freezes.

 

I will try to clean the cache etc. Hope it will make sense.

Restoring the file system and rebuilding the database also probably helped after deleting the update - then reinstalling them afterwards.

 

The day before I had a freeze within minutes of starting online on my own just driving down the street...

Only thing that worked for me was getting the digital version of the game. Before that it was constant freezing couldnt play at all..

I restored my default setting which seemed to work. Haven't froze for a few days now. Also helped my connection for PlayStation Now.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I did the restoring file system and rebuilding database as well. Still no problems with freezing.

none of that sh*t works at all. in 1.11 and 1.12 i had tons of random freezing issues and tried everything, nothing worked. I even have 2 ps3 systems, one super slim and one 2nd or 3d gen and it didnt matter which one i used, they both froze the same. seemed like i froze more often in lobbies with obvious cheaters/glitchers f*cking with the game. If i saw anyone much over rank 300 or so id change sessions. Also usually happens in lobbies where things dont spawn normally, such as there is very little or no traffic, when cops get out of their cars and the car disappears or any npc car disappears before your eyes or they are driving with no driver. If you see any of that going on switch sessions and you shouldnt freeze as often.

OP, I had this issue a few days ago. I'm on ps3 and I was freezing every 5 minutes. I had never had this issue since the game launched, but it sprung up after patch 1.13. I fixed it by completely deleting GTA5 from my "game data files". I even deleted the "GTA5 install" files. I had to re-download the game to my system, but you won't lose your character This fixed the freezing for me.

I haven't had a freeze since deleting the patch, then doing restore file system and rebuild database and then reinstalling the patch (1.13).

Actually, when you freeze in the clouds you can hit the PS button and it'll then proceed to load, interestingly enough.

does anybody ever freeze on jobs?

i only seem to ever freeze in free roam and joinig sessions

Actually, when you freeze in the clouds you can hit the PS button and it'll then proceed to load, interestingly enough.

 

sometimes,not always, thats really not the type of freeze people are talking about though, you can tell the difference cause when you press the ps button nothing happens if your console is frozen. alternatively when pressing the ps button and it changes the screen but still wont load you can disconnect your internet to keep from having to quit the game and reload it which takes forever. as soon as you lose internet it pops you out to story mode, saves lots of loading time.

this freeze is completely random...

 

there are days i can barely play thanks to the freeze, there are days i dont freeze at all...

 

in the past week my console freeze only once per day, yesterday in a good 6+ hour session i didnt freeze not one time, today i freeze 4 times in a 2 hour session.

 

on a side note...

eject the game instead of making a hard reset, i dont feel like the console is taking less punishment by doing this.

On ps3 I reinstalled the patches, rebuild the database. I freeze maybe 60% less now

My way to avoid freezing is to shift lobbies once you start seeing cars driving funny. It's a sign that the server is losing packets whether it's receiving or sending, both can freeze you the same. I think the freezes started somewhere after they fixed the issue where Singapore and some other countries in the south-east asian area couldn't connect to GTAO for 3 weeks straight.

Here's what I tried on PS3.

 

x Play on an invite only session server

x Clearing cache

x Rebuild database

x Full reset

x Bought new console

 

Conclusion: Game still freezes occasionally. So does other games and this issue have been around for at least 7 years.

I've been troubleshooting this issue for a while and I'm fairly convinced it's a network based problem. Apparently changing your consoles DNS settings to something else, like googles, resolves the freezing issue. I haven't tested it because I'm moving to a new city tonight, thus my ISP is about to change anyway so I'm waiting to try out on a new ISP to see if the freezing stops. If not I'm going to try the DNS suggestion by another user to see if that works.

 

Source: I have a computer networking degree among other IT related degrees so take my advice as you will. If you do change your DNS entries to googles please let me know how you make out and whether or not it improves I'm genuinely curious.

I think you may be making connections that aren't there because I've seen pretty much everything you've described and my game never freezes (well hardly ever, maybe a dozen times or so overall)

I think this guy might be onto something, I changed to google's public DNS a few days after launch because I was having trouble getting online due to problems my ISP was causing, never had any problems since

 

anyway to do this go to network settings on your console and change the DNS to manual and enter these values

primary DNS : 8.8.8.8

secondary DNS 8.8.4.4

I run googles DNS over Ethernet and I freeze all the time. It only started on 1.11 for me. Can't fix it, the game is just broken since 1.11.

 

I've never ever in my life frozen in a race or mission not even when I played FOS in a near full room and was running at like 10 frames a second.

 

Soon as you play a public lobby.. Freeze. If you stay on the mission and race menu you can play 20 hours straight without crashing. I have 31 days play time, since 1.11 I play mostly invite only by myself or one friend and just join missions and races from there. I'd like to play on the public map but can't deal with the freezing right when your about to do something awesome.

 

"Sorry I froze" is a msg I get often from friends and I send my share also.
