I am 36, with a 3 years old son, I cant wait to play games with him

but that will be complicated if he ask me

"dad, why you play as a girl in this game?"

LOL--my kids already ask me that...as does my wife.

I am 40 and am getting so nostalgic reading all of these posts--so many good memories. I grew up with all of this stuff as well and plan on continuing 'til the grave.

GTA is one of the few games that I have enjoyed online though. I get so fed up with the misogynistic and racist garbage that is constantly being spouted by punk-ass kids that have no idea what they are even saying. It can be such a buzzkill that I usually hang with my (small) crew in invite only sessions but it is very satisfying when I go open session and run into other gamers that understand how this stuff should be done--namely, play the game (even be a complete maniac if you want--it's kind of the point) but be respectful to other gamers. The rampant douchebaggery gets stale pretty quick (spawnkilling, overuse of tanks against players, personal insults).

I am on the east coast and play a few times a week. PSN name is also havok024. Hope to run into some of you all around Los Santos.

I was born in 1990 and been playing since playstation 1 and my dad is in his early forties and hes been playing games ever since the NES days and is an avid fan of Madden & COD and playing every one of them on PC. When i was younger my bros and i would go into his game collection which was the nes and sega genesis and would play those systems and its just amazing how far that video games have come through my whole lifetime it serious is. It is surprising to me knowing the ages of the people on hear being that most babyboomers i run into never play video games and even look down on it saying that its ONLY for kids but then i always say you could say the same for the other various forms of media like movies, tv shows, and computers. I honestly will NEVER quit gaming and will continue til the day i die.

Sugar Free Nos

This is a great thread. It's nice to see so many actual adults enjoying gaming.

So gaming is going to be something that almost everyone does, and I honestly can't wait.

I have an uncle who turned 80 last year. The family got him a digital camera as a special present because he's still quite outdoors'y. He took it back to where they bought it and bought a 360. He loves it, keeps his mind active and gives him something to do.

When people tell me games are just for kids, I always think about him and laugh. If you enjoy something it doesn't matter how old you are.

That story made my day!

In fairness, if gaming had been around 50 years earlier, it would probably be the norm for people of all ages to be avid gamers. Let's not forget that the older ones that play are basically the 1st generation to have ever seen such things.

I'm 21 but I feel 60, does that count?

Your only as old as the women you feel.

Sadly, that makes me 0 :(

EDIT: I mean nothing, not that I'm feeling a baby!

Zaxxon on ColecoVision, circa 1985. I remember being stunned by these graphics!

On the other side of this discussion, I just want to thank all you youngins' for welcoming us codgers, and for helping us stay hip!

True story; I was at my daughter's wedding reception back in March, and this beautiful 27-year-old friend of my daughter's, who lost her husband last year to cancer, was telling me that her new motto in life is "YOLO!" She was expecting me to ask her what that meant, but instead I said, "Don't you mean 'YOLO SWAG'"? She had no idea what i was talking about.

Thanks to this forum, I was edgier than the hipsters!

Make sure you old skoolers drop your gt in the meet up section for and old boys meet up link up etc etc!

Spy hunter now that's a game!

Remember the tune from I think a film called precinct 13?

Did spy hunter not have a version of Peter Gunn?

The music your thinking of is from xenon 2.

Bomb the Bass riffing on John Carpenter's remix of his own theme music from Assualt on Precinct 13.

Genius.

I turned 52 last month and have three Grandkids. I never really got into gaming until the Sega Mega-drive came out and even then it was a present for my then wife (same age as me) and only dabbled with a few games until GTA III came out and I was like "Eureka" finally a game I can get me teeth into. So I've been into the GTA series since then.

Great topic btw, it's good to see there's quite a few of you here older than me : ) I'm on 360 and PS3, same gt as here.

I'm pushing toward the big FIVE-O soon, too, though I'm a child of the 1960's and not quite a "boomer."

Trust me when I say that many of my friends, both XGen's and Boomers, consider playing video games juvenile and beneath them.

I can't imagine what they'd think about contributing on a video game forum, too! oh my! ;)

Nice one gentlemen. I'm an X-man myself. Our crew is actually well populated with the over 30s and beyond, I'd say its a big factor in making it such a great crew to be involved with.. Certainly makes the chat room a banterous place to hang out.

I'm on vacation with my wife in Florida and we stepped out for a drink the other night. I was wearing my "Bugstars" T-shirt ("Putting the FU in fumigation") and a young guy commented how awesome he thought the shirt was and couldn't believe an old timer like myself was wearing it. He bought me and the wife a drink!

Just got back from a vacation. Flew out to North Carolina for the Nascar Coca-Cola 600. Got together with guys I met while playing Nascar Racing 2002 online. We camped for 4 days, sucked lots of suds and sipped a bit of apple pie moonshine. Been doin the trip for bout 3 years now. Getting to see the guys I race on line is a trip. If any of you get a chance to hook up with an online buddy.....take it.
