Lol... I win muscle car races in a fully modded Dominator & Sabre Turbo depending on my experience on the track. Sometimes a Ruiner will come first. Never seen a POS Gauntlet win.

Gauntlet has the best handling of any muscle car...not many options to modify tho...it was my 1st vehichle ever in GTA 5 so it has a soft spot in my heart

You don´t have a clue mate. Top 3 in the class in Gauntlet, Dominator, Ruiner. They´re very closely matched and the fastest car depends on the track you´re racing. Gauntlet is the fastest in most tracks though.

 

The "I win all the time in a X" argument is stoopid. If the other drivers suck you can win in whatever car.

The Gauntlet (AKA the Challenger) Is in my opinion the best muscle car in GTAO. It is evenly balanced as the fastest muscle car (some other of the fastest can keep an even pace) but has wayy better acceleration than a lot of those fast muscle cars. Not to mention its very easy to control its oversteer and if someone wants to try to pit you their going to have a hard time since this thing is a battering ram as well.

A side inquiry:

Of my three, I'm trying to decide which to sport as my "gentlemen's" muscle car. Gonna drop the spoilers and racing stripes possibly to make it a little more elegant, maybe paint it gold, or black. Kinda like in that Rockford car chase above.

If I were you I'd pick either a Vigero or a Buccaneer and then just black it out. Looks sleek as f*ck.

Because I for one love the muscle cars in the game I would remmend getting the Phoenix or Sabre Turbo for both their awesome performance and deep customization.

 

Their performance is good because although they have below average handling once mastered their tendancy to fishtail can be used to your advantage not to mention they have crazy acceleration once upgreaded.

 

Both the Phoenix and Sabre Turbo have amazing mod options and each have one unique option:

 

The Sabre has a side ported exhaust, It unlocks at level 52 I myslef am working towards level 52 on my 2nd character for that particualr unlock.

The Phoenix has a spoiler that looks a lot like the one that would come on a Dodge Charger R/T Daytona 1969, I forgot when it unlocks but I know it's before the Sabre's side port exhaust unlocks.

Steal a Ruiner, drive for 1 minute. You decided after that. I have one that isn't lowered and hasn't had any bodywork done on it. If you keep the paint job from being to loud and park it well you can get away with other players thinking it's just an NPCs car.

The Voodoo has a mean sound (without turbo), but I'd try to pick up a Phoenix if I had to choose just one, it's my favorite muscle car in the game.

The Phoenix and Dominator are the loud two. Aggressive burly exhaust tone, and they are both pretty customizable.

 

The Mustang is a top shelf race car and the Phoenix is mid-pack, if that concerns you.

I just want a car that has some nice customization and engine sound.

Get a muthaf#ckin' Rat Rod, b!tch. Best customization options of all the muscle class. And it sounds awesome. My favorite is the squeaks and eeks of an old truck that it makes as you fly down the road. It's made for straight drag driving, so yes, it takes 3 miles to make a turn. But it's a beastly bad ass muthatruckin custom with great options, and once you know it's quirks and how it drives, you can make it handle surprisingly well. Best of all, because it's not an Entity, almost no one has one (an d no one bothers to get good at driving it).
