America has issues tho.

You can do porn at 18.. You can join the army at 18. But you can't drink till 21....?

That makes no sense.. You mean people are doing porn and joining the army sober?

WTF? :D

So, which utopian country are you from??

The drinking age WAS 18 at one point, and the kiddies couldn't handle it...just like, obviously, the kiddies can't handle reality nowadays

IMO, it's not a black and white issue.

There are some teenagers that are perfectly mature enough to handle playing an M Rated game.

There are some 40 year old people out there that aren't mature enough.

Same goes with TV programs, movies, even things like gambling, smoking, drinking, or anything else with an age limit on it, IMO. In some instances, underage people can handle those sorts of things more responsibly than grown adults can.

Just this year they raised the age for buying alcohol and cigarettes here from 16 to 18. Sucks for you if you turned 16 last year. It's now the same age as being allowed to drive and buy weed. I think you can visit prostitutes at 16 though. :p

Netherlands here.

Australia- A 16yo girl can be arrested for having sex with a guy under 18. An 18yo guy cannot get arrested for sex with a 16yo. We drink at 18 and drive at 15 and 9 months(?). u mad?

I know, I'm 30 minutes from Windsor...which, as we say here, Canada is only cool if you're 19 or 20...unless you're addicted to bottomless strip clubs where you can drink

It's like some people aren't reading, but it's not just about the content of the game, like in SP, but you are mixing kids with men and women between the ages of 18 and up, like 40, 50, even 60-80 year olds in MP. Some can be nasty to deal with and shape influence on impressionable children. They may not turn into professional killers or criminals, but I'm sure that they are going to become somewhat mal-adjusted, #yoloswag

What kind of kids are you around?

Some don't even listen to the sh*t their parents tell them a million times, and they will listen to Trevor Phillips?

I'm not saying that. I'm just saying it influences them in one way or another. Kids are shaped by their environments and what they see and hear. I'm referring to the fact that the biggest parts of our personalities as an adults are formed when we're kids. When we're adults we become better at seperating fact from fiction and it becomes easier to take things we're shown in the media with a grain of salt.

Well that's not necessarily because you're an adult, it's because you're a mature person.

Being 18 doesn't automatically make you mature, and vice versa.

No child could possibly confuse GTA with fact, which is why they can enjoy it in the first place. Adults literally sh*t themselves in real gunfights!

I can confirm that it depends on the city/state. Portland, Oregon definitely has vaginas all up in your face.

Well, I'm actually only 13. I'm not one of those "kids" who will say they f*cked your mom. Honestly, I actually cooperate when I play ghost in S&R with adults while little kids are screaming or playing music.

Now to GTA, I'm not a grifier, I don't kill people for no reason, but with mental stability the whole game is screwed up. I actually talk to adults in GTA5 and we usually do some missions and hangout. I only kill people with bounties on them. I'm actually a mature 13 year old, I have a job of reffing little kids hockey games for $16 an hour, and I get honor roll every quarter. I've never done drugs or smoked or even drank beer. In my view, I see more mature kids then adults in this game. Every server I join I usually hear someone playing music, a black guy saying N*gga, and some kid screaming that he f*cked your mom. And Finally, if you think your kid is mature enough and smart enough to know what not to do in real life that he's able to do in GTA5 and you don't hear him screaming "fag" or "I f*cked your mom" he should be able to get the game is he can prove you can trust him. But the worst part of GTAO is hearing a white kid saying "N*GGA"

No child without serious schizophrenia or something is going to think GTA is "real". Of course. I don't see how anyone could even argue that. But GTA is satire of reality, and is based on real things. A child which has never been confronted with some of the themes in this game may mistake them for something that also exists in reality in the same way.

If I had a child I would gradually let him/her become accustomed to the fact that violence and sex exist. I'm not going to familiarize my kid with sex and violence by letting them watch porn and play GTA. I'm going to do it by teaching them the biological side of sex and having them watch movies that don't glamorize violence but show how bad it really is and the effects it has on people.

So I suppose that's governed by laws? I couldn't imagine a stripclub being "voluntarily bottomless." :p

f*ck off with its the parents choice. it effects everyone online so they can choke on a bag of dicks.

parents can also chose to buy their brats alcohol, drugs and hookers. that still doesn't make any of that right.

your job as parents is to raise your kids right. not be your kids friend and buy them whatever the hell they want.

keep your minor kids off rated m games. or at the very least amount of half-assed parenting, take away the headset/keep them off everyone chat.

every damn game I own is full of little kids talking sh*t. the other day on gta online I had to keep telling a kid to stop giving out his phone number and facebook information. you even have little kids sexual harassing anyone with a female character looking for an online girlfriend. but game companies need that little kid money. they are the ones that buy all the downloadable content like glow in the dark gun skins on COD.

and if you are under 18, then your post doesn't matter. its just you patting yourself on the back for being a big boy and being mature enough to handle it. most adults don't want to hang out with children. and you need to watch out for the ones that do. weirdos...

1. Too many kids are voting here I guess...... Look at the poll results LOL

2. Who is to blame for this? Parents? Rockstar? Youtube?

I think this new "gaming" fashion that YouTube started has encouraged a lot of kids to massively play mainstream online games such as COD, Minecraft, BF, and now GTA Online.

I was 7 when I first played Gta 2 and I was like meh, also happened with GTA 3. I played Vice City and I kinda liked random rampages, but I didn't get the story and the plot. Same happened with GTA San Andreas. It was just a game that I would play half an hour and then move to a game more of my age, like Crash Bandicoot, Fifa.... Good Old times.

I didn't beging to understand GTA until I turned 15-16 and decided to replay all the games and pay attention to them, that's when I began to love them. And even at that time I wasn't aware at how great the games are, nor I got all of them jokes on the game. I kinda started to get it all when I was 17-18.

So now you are telling me 9-14 year old kids are aware of what they are playing too and understand the game? No way.

It's all just a fashion. My lil cousins who are around 10 never gave a f*ck about GTA, but since they've got Internet/Youtube at home they magically want GTA V.

I studied a bit my brother's behaviour (He's 15 now) He considers a game "his favourite" depending on the Youtube User he's following at the moment. He's being through Digimon Online, Minecraft, GTA Online, COD, Battlefield, Fifa and Leage of Legends. Spending money in stupid microtransactions sometimes.

I think the gaming industry changed a lot, so have the morals of people.

When I was a kid I was afraid to ask my mum to buy me games such as Resident Evil or GTA, because she would say no. Plus video game stores wouldn't sell it to me for being a minor. Now you can get a GTA copy everywhere, no matter how old are you.

I think this is pretty f**** up.

And yeah answering to the first question, "trolls" happen to be most times children, or at least it looks like it by their silly nicknames ending in _2003, _1999 and so on, which reveal their age or just by hearing them cry over the mic, shouting and swearing all the time when they get killed.

Like if you agree.

I have mixed feelings about this. I have encountered kids 13-14 years old in gta that are mature enough for the game and understand it completely. I have also encountered 15-16 year olds that aren't mature enough for the game. As long as the person playing has the maturity to play the game I don't have a problem regardless of age. The problem is weeding out mature 14 year Olds from the immature ones.

Parents are too stupid to understand the impact gaming has on their kids, they all think it's marshmallows & unicorns, it's a simple as that

Ballistic Jello

As parents lead busier and busier work lives, the obligations of which infringe on personal lives and take more time than ever in the past, they have (or choose to have) less time to police their kid's behavior. Simultaneously, videogames become babysitters.

I think it's as simple as that. How much whining, begging and how many tantrums can you withstand before you give in to their demands? They are already spoiled by a lack of parenting, so the snowball rolls downhill and they demand GTA V, or COD 7, or whatever it is.

The parents have to not only withstand those demands, they also have to justify them, or else their kids don't listen to them or stop trusting them.

The end result is children, literally immature, undeveloped children, many of whom are the spoiled brats who abused their parents to buy it for them, are playing this game in droves. The 10-14 or 15 year old kids who don't have any place in an environment like this, just like watching a NC-17 horror movie, or pr0n, or whatever.

@luisy.I'm 14,15 in about a week and I fully understand what I'm playing, how could I not.I don't think that shooting someone or drugs or crashing at 100mph is cool in IRL.I play GTA because it is fun and I have good friends to play it with. It's just a game.People who play videogames and end up doing drugs or murders or heavy drinking, were already heading down that path.People who end up as physcos, were already like that, they weren't "turned by videogames".And a lot of you guys who played GTA between 5-10 are hypocrites. You think it was okay to play these games when you were little kids, but now a 15 or 16 year old shouldn't be able to play it?What a bunch of bullsh*t.And 19 and 20 year olds sitting on their a*s smoking weed all day, telling 40 year old men and women how to raise their kids,is ridiculous and pathetic.

American strip clubs aren't bottomless?

off topic but yes, its a sad state of affairs. especially if the nfl builds a stadium in your town. most of the clubs get closed down or become bikini clubs.

we had a nude restaurant until somebody complained about their food being so close to the waitress' vagina. now they pay $30 for a meh burger to see a girl in a bikini bring it to them. that's just sad.

The issue at hand i see here... is some of these kids are extremely young... young to the point i question wtf their parents are letting them do with a headset and online access... im talking about kids no older than 11...

kids that are 14-17 are old enough to know better...
