GTAForums.Talk
Seriously. I need to get myself a microphone headset. I'm tired of beeping my bloody horn. And I'm most definitely tired of typing that takes up 400 years to complete. I am determined to get a microphone so I can just drive around and let people know I'm f*cking innocent. SaveTheZombies
As long as that's what you use it for. I find that 99.9% of the people with mics should have them taken away. About 15% of them are so annoying they require muting. Most recently I was in freeroam with some Australians and one of my "fellow Americans" who was probably getting his ass kicked and so was getting all xenophobic on them. That's bad enough but then he tried to mock their accents which sounded more like Jim Carrey's "most annoying sound on Earth" from Dumb & Dumber and he had to be muted. Another mute worthy convo I witnessed: a grown man and a child arguing, well, arguing is a strong word. They just kept yelling "I'm the real nigga, nigga!" back and forth. jtet37
any not stupid-cheap headset from a half way decent company should be fine...just dont have cell conversations w it..... They're out ta get me They won't catch me I'm f*ckin' innocent They won't break me Sometimes it's easy to forget where you're goin' Sometimes it's harder to leave And everytime you think you know just what you are doin' That's when your troubles exceed They push me in a corner Just to get me to fight but They won't touch me They preach and yell And fight all night You can't tell me I lose my head I close my eyes They won't touch me 'Cause I got somethin' I been buildin' up inside I'm already gone They're out ta get me They won't catch me I'm f*ckin' innocent They won't break me
Pete4000uk
They are good, but just because you have one don't think you need to commentate on everything or get wound op by others. I was on a lobby yesterday with some guy asking me about various topics (relating to the EU elections) but I just kept my mouth shut, Until I killed him. Hodgey.
I have a mic but hardly use it. I'm just not a person that likes to talk during gameplay for the most part.
dewtech
When with the crew I use it all the time, generally have a laugh and keep the social side of an online game up. On open lobbies I tend to have it muted and above my head though. SaveTheZombies
Biggie Kaniff
Got harrassed by a black dude via the mic today. What did I do to deserve it? Spawn in his apartment during RR. I dont even use the mic, its easier communicating via texts or just not communicate at all.

You mean when you are in a high speed chase with your buddy or in a race its better to communicate with text rather than having a mic? I wonder how many races you have lost by that option jtet37

Strikeslip
Bluetooth ear piece $20 at K Mart. Some mics are very annoying. I assume they're these cheap bluetooth mics that cause buzzing/whistling and/or I can hear lots of background noise and echo. I mute these people, and usually let them know via my high-quality mic that they shouldn't buy their mic at McDonalds because it just gets them muted and was a waste of a Happy Meal toy. Some mics are really bad. Some people who use mics are really bad. I mute both. Really only use it during a heated battle or when have a good time with friends. I normally leave lobbies where 10 people are yelling at the same time. I use a Pulse Elite and haven't had any problems.
Strikeslip
I have the Sony PS3 Pulse Wireless ($140CAN), which are great except for the vibration feature, which is useless because it simply fires for bass, so it usually doesn't make any sense and just runs the battery down faster. I turn the vibration off and the battery lasts for ages. I think I've done some sessions up to six hours straight, maybe more. It has sliders to adjust sound effects and voice chat separately, which is very handy, especially when someone annoying joins a race, I can just slide the voice to off and still enjoy the sound effects and music. A button to mute toggle my own mic to avoid embarrassment when my wife comes downstairs to nag at me for playing too much GTA. Different surround modes toggle button, which there's no need to mess with once you've chosen the correct mode, I use "FPS Mode", I think. On my way to work IRL this morning the car in front of me was driving erratically. I pulled along side him at a light, put my thumb to my ear and pinky to my mouth, and shook my head "no"... He gave me the finger... I laughed. He must've been about 55. Edited May 22, 2014 by Strikeslip Biggie Kaniff

sultangris
in my opinion the mid to top end bluetooth ones work best and are most convenient, bought a cheap one once and it sucked so i took it back. I hate cords getting tangled up and caught on sh*t, plus i sit about 15 feet away from my playstation when i play.
