Rockstar resetting SVG crew emblems

Rockstar has started to fix the SVG crew emblems. Anyone who used the SVG exploited will notice their crew's emblem has been reset. Mine went from Niko Bellic to some orange Badge abomination.

 

Be ready to use the god awful emblem creator!

You can't any more. You used to be able to copy and paste SVG markup directly into the page and it just saved it. Rockstar put something in place to validate it so it knows if you've built it with the editor or not.

I just checked on the social club, and my crew's emblem is still there. Though I sometimes feel that R* is watching over GTA players like Big Brother.

Uploading an image that is protected by a copyright is illegal, and they would be getting cease and desist letters as often as youtube does.

I don't know how forza deals with it, but perhaps it's the same way that gran turismo does it, and that is by negotiating a deal with the owner of the material.

 

The problem with GTA is that a lot of companies don't want their brand name associated with such a politically incorrect game.

Probably due to the nature of the game. It's just a racing game so it's free advertising essentially, and as somebody posted above, there's probably deals in place.

Most companies would love to advertise their products in a GTA game, but there would be negative press from the media.

No, Forza doesn't allow uploading, but some of the images made with Forza's paint editor are so good, they're practically carbon copies of the real thing. So perhaps maybe it's not the emblem itself that's the problem, but the fact that the SVG exploit is still an exploit, which R* doesn't take kindly to.

i doubt copyright is the issue. ModNation Racing was full of copyrighted material, & displayed the most downloaded* in the freemode style lobby.

 

*publishing & downloading user created character/vehicles was great fun.

If you create it yourself using provided tools, any legal issues (if there are any) will be between you and the copyright holder. R* covering their arse, and fair enough really.
