Opinions on having a gun locker?

Gun locker in your apartment

193 members have voted

  1. 1. Would you want a gun locker in your apartment to store weapons?

Dropping the weapon means you have to go and buy it again at the ammunation though doesn't it?

Dunno. As I said, never dropped a gun intentionally.

Whereas leaving your gun in the apartment means you can just go and get it whenever you need..

No disagreement here...

And lets be honest, people can't complain leaving 1 gun in the apartment..

"People can't complain"...? Ah... You've only been here a week. You'll learn that people can, and will, complain about just about EVERYTHING

-Bill

Oh i've been here a lot longer than a week Bill ;)

But I do agree that people will complain about everything and anything possible, but some things will be truly difficult to put up a valid point in which people will agree with. And most likely it'll be a stupid kid complaining anyway..

No because when you walk over it you pick it up again. I've dropped that worthless pistol 10000 times. Plus the weapon wheel doesn't stay where you set it and it's annoying as hell to have to keep setting it and dropping sh*t weapons constantly. Waste of time

Not if you are required to actually select the weapons you want to keep, or pick up through a UI system. Think outside of the box a little, it won't kill ya.

Ya well that would work too. Either way I don't care, I just want to permanently remove the worthless guns and quit picking them up unintentionally and reduce clutter to improve efficency during gun battles because seconds matter and the current method sucks

I used to as well until I realized they served no purpose and only got me killed because they are too weak to compete with the better weapons.

I like this idea. After awhile, I just dropped all the guns I didn't want anymore. Kept the AP pistol, micro uzi(in car), combat MG, advanced rifle, bullpup rifle, special carbine, heavy sniper, assault shotty, RPG and grenade launcher. I've probably dropped 60k worth of guns plus the cost of accessories, because it's pointless to carry around what I don't use. Having them on display at your house would be a nice idea though.

@Bill

Your over complicating it, the idea of the gun locker is because people want to be able to store or swap weapons because scrolling through 5 pistols to get to the one you want is too time consuming in a fire fight.

I get that part of it.

Personally, when I start, I set my weapon wheel to the weapons I want anyway. Scrolling really isn't an issue, at least for me.

Also, my point #3 stands. The minute someone leaves a weapon at their apartment and can't use it when they want to, they'll be complaining about it. Their fault for leaving it at home? Absolutely... But, you and I both know, that won't stop people from complaining about it.

-Bill

But the point is that its just a choice! If you want to leave guns in your apartment you can do, otherwise carry it all around as you wish.. So personally it wouldn't affect anyone who doesn't like the idea, but affects the people who actually want to use it

Doesn't dropping them do pretty much the same thing...?

Honest question, never really "dropped" a weapon myself. Never saw the reasoning behind it.

-Bill

I can see what you mean by point 3 but if you use the weapon in question , why are you leaving at home anyway. The gun cabinet would be for guns you don't use a lot anyway but don't wish to waste all the money you spent by simply dropping it.

I don't really see clearly complaints because, they would simply be defused by just saying, you can still carry all your guns with you.

The point is some of us have a specific gun set up, guns that we use and guns that we don't. We bought them for whatever reason but we don't use them, like foe.me it would be the.heavy pistol combat pistol, smg, the mg, geusenberg, and the short shotgun, I would like to store these because they together are about 100k. I just don't want to simply waste. And I may become interested in them again, so I still would.like to keep them, just put them in storage.

Micro uzi is worthless. Use ap pistol for much faster results. When I was new player I went back to the combat pistol cause the micro sucked so bad, lol

Absolutely agree.

While we are at it, weapons preferences need to be remembered also. (This could replace the need for a gun locker).

Dropped around 12 weapons over a month ago and it is the best thing I ever did. For example, why do I need a Sniper Rifle when I have a Heavy Sniper, a broken bottle, an MG when I have a Combat MG, in my inventory. Ensures I always start with the weapons wheel on weapons I am fine with using (less I for some reason like the Bullpup now) and before missions etc can more quickly switch to my weapon of choice.

I don't really get why anyone would oppose this idea. If you wanna carry all the guns then great, don't put any in the locker. Your game play has not been affected.

If I could have a gun locker the first weapons I'd store away would be the standard pistol and the pump shotgun.

Ooops, just killed a cop and walked over his standard pistol and pump shotgun. Guess I gotta go back home. :panic:

need better idea

This is why I love you, Flexx

Why, cause he thinks he's funny? Obviously while in locker they would register as already owned and you wouldn't pick it up. That's the whole point of it in the first place. Derpa derpa

You should also have a show/hide switch in the inventory for the weapon wheel, so the weapon wheel is almost like a hot bar from an MMO. That could work, it would be simple, less coding and no modeling required.

However I like a weapon locker better, but I would rather go with the former then nothing at all.

I only use that POS in the car for rapid fire through the window. If I wanna blow a car up, the AP pistol is far superior. I just hate setting my weapon wheel how I like it, only to find that damn micro Uzi in the combat MG spot because I just got done using it in the car.

we should either have a gun lockers at home or being able to sell the gun back to ammunation for 60% of it original price.

i know people suggest you to drop the weapons you dont use but that shouldnt be the solution, i mean you spend money buying them, you shouldnt have to drop thousands of dollars worth of guns.

Exactly what I was thinking.Ya that's exactly why I dumped mine, rarely use guns in a car anyway. They take too long to kill someone with. I stop and get out and blast any fool chasing me with a good gun in less time than it takes to break the window, lol

I would love if you could set one of your PVs to have a gun cabinet in your trunk, so you could have stuff in your trunk, a la LA Noire, GTA IV with the delivery service, breaking bad or any cop movie you've ever seen.

I guess if you wanted to talk about weapon systems, Rockstar could throw away the current system in new iterations at least. I don't see there being a way for R* to comfortably change a integral system of the game without complaints.

... IF you were to do this though...this is how I would arrange it.

1. All weapons have a weight penalty applied to the character.

2. Having less heavy weapons makes you faster on your feet, and duck into cover faster.

3. Limit one weapon of each type able to hold at one time.

4. New weapon class, super weapons. Limit this only to the trunk of your PV. If you want to switch weapons while you have it out, you have to drop your super on the ground. (Super weapons would be Rocket launchers, Gatling Guns, deploy able turrets (Now everyone think about how amazing that could have been.)

5. Limit how much ammo you can carry on yourself. (ie, you can't exceed 300 pistol rounds on your body at one time.)

6. Apartment serve as Ammo cache, since ammunition and the useless ammo drop shouldn't be your only access to ammo.
7. Trunks of your PV can serve as a gun cradle to store weapons. (Weapons in your PV would not be exclusive to your trunk, it would just be shared from the apartment cache to prevent loss of ammo.)

Wow, I took too much time with that :\

Great idea, well constructed! I just posted something similar in less detail in a different thread minutes ago. I think all of this should be added as hardcore mode with no player blips.

Micro uzi is definitely not worthless. Very useful on missions when u need to kill someone without blowing up their car. Ap will def do more damage as you say which is why the uzi is superior in these situations. Especially if this scenario takes place in a heist, you dont wanna be blowing up cars if Theres important mission items inside.

Its not about thinking im funny. Like you, this idea is dumb. Are you mad that no person with a brain sees the point and logic in a f*cking weapons locker?

Yeah, there are weapons players don't want to use anymore, but we don't need a f*cking weapons locker. You need a better idea. One with more thought put into it preferably. Possibly less thought considering how unnecessary the addition of a weapons locker would be, just to have a place to put weapons you plan on never taking out, idiot.

I want either this or just having the weapon wheel remember my last selection. The way it is now is very inconvenient and I'm honestly surprised Rockstar hasn't done something like this yet. This and having all the blue crap removed from the mini map are the 2 things I want to see the most in the next patch.

Negative nancy. You sound you would be close to committing suicide every time Rockstar made an addition that you personally happen to dislike.
