Opinions on having a gun locker?

Gun locker in your apartment

  1. 1. Would you want a gun locker in your apartment to store weapons?

I think every apartment should come with a gun locker to store guns and ammo etc.. I mean it can't be just me that hates carrying around every single weapon with you when you pretty much don't use most of them. It would be awesome to just have a gun locker so you can leave unused guns and weapons there, and would spice up the way the apartment looks too.. I mean walking into the apartment and having a rack of guns just there seems cool... Also seems more badass in preparation for heist's that you can just go to your apartment and load up on weapons and ammunition!

thoughts?

Always thought this would be a good idea! I'm sure R* has thought of it, hope it's on their agenda.

A showcase would be better.

but yes, return it to system of GTA IV, but you can switch it out with a different one at your apartment

Meh, it would be ok I guess but kinda pointless unless storing guns inside it would prevent you from picking up sh*tty ones that you don't want accidentally. I only carry a few good guns that I use and the rest just suck and there is no reason to even have them because you won't ever use them anyway.

Exactly! Also gives the apartment more use than it currently has now..

Well as long as you can put down guns somewhere in your apartment and come to collect it some other time when you need to use it

True, but I'd rather just own everything and prefer to have them in my apartment.. Even if it was just aesthetic

Now all we have is Merryweather, a company who we're constantly stealing from.

I'm very indecisive during gun play...should I use the AP?....would a sniper be best?....or would a grenade launcher do the job?

Of course, by the time I decide I'm dead...but I think I need all my guns with me, even if they are a pain in the *ss.

LOL

If the guns & ammo I carry actually affected my gameplay by being too heavy, yeah, this would be cool.

Since they have no effect whatsoever on my strength or stamina, I actually like having them all on me. It amuses me to imagine where on earth I'm pulling that minigun out of.

I also think you should be limited to two categories of weapons carried at once, and one weapon of each category at once, along with 5 or so magazines carried for each weapon being carried.

Online fights would have to break off after a firefight to rearm which would be exciting etc...

I vote yes.

Nice idea, OP. Maybe if we had an apartment creator, like a primitive version of The Sims, then this could work.

Although I can't help feel that the fact we can carry all these weapons on us anyway defeats the point. If we were limited by carrying capacity then I would love this in my apartment (maybe mansions in the future :O)

whats the point? your character is already a walking gun locker. If you want ammo then go to a gun store or stock up in a lobby.

In theory, it's a neat idea... But...

1: Currently, you can carry all of the weapons with you now. If they did this, they'd almost have to limit how many weapons you can carry at one time, otherwise, what's the point in not carrying them all?

2: That would raise the question of "how many weapons can you carry at a time?" One per spot on the weapon wheel, perhaps? Problem there is, you'd then have to choose between handgrenades or sticky bombs... RPG or Minigun...

3: The inevitable, wanting to use a weapon you have, but can't, because you left it at your apartment. Common sense would say, "Well, that's the player's fault," but common sense takes a backseat a lot of the time here and I'm sure we'd see the "Why can't I carry all of my weapons at once" thread pop up.

Unless you're limiting how many weapons a player can carry at a time, I just don't see the practicality. But, the minute you do that, people will complain that they can't carry all of their weapons at once.

Good idea, just don't see a good way to really implement it, without it either being impractical to use, or having people complain that they can't carry everything at once.

If I could have a gun locker the first weapons I'd store away would be the standard pistol and the pump shotgun.

Ooops, just killed a cop and walked over his standard pistol and pump shotgun. Guess I gotta go back home. :panic:

need better idea

Your over complicating it, the idea of the gun locker is because people want to be able to store or swap weapons because scrolling through 5 pistols to get to the one you want is too time consuming in a fire fight.

Well thats completely fine, but just having the choice of knowing you can leave some at your apartment if you have to is useful

Not sure about you, but in GTA IV it would have you press a button before switching out. Wouldn't be hard to implement that,

But the point is that its just a choice! If you want to leave guns in your apartment you can do, otherwise carry it all around as you wish.. So personally it wouldn't affect anyone who doesn't like the idea, but affects the people who actually want to use it

I get that part of it.

Personally, when I start, I set my weapon wheel to the weapons I want anyway. Scrolling really isn't an issue, at least for me.

Also, my point #3 stands. The minute someone leaves a weapon at their apartment and can't use it when they want to, they'll be complaining about it. Their fault for leaving it at home? Absolutely... But, you and I both know, that won't stop people from complaining about it.

Doesn't dropping them do pretty much the same thing...?

Honest question, never really "dropped" a weapon myself. Never saw the reasoning behind it.

If they had something set up like the ammunation gun racks, it'd be pretty cool. You could just walk in hang weapons up.

No because when you walk over it you pick it up again. I've dropped that worthless pistol 10000 times. Plus the weapon wheel doesn't stay where you set it and it's annoying as hell to have to keep setting it and dropping sh*t weapons constantly. Waste of time

Not if you are required to actually select the weapons you want to keep, or pick up through a UI system. Think outside of the box a little, it won't kill ya.

But, what would be different if you had a locker, stored your pistol, killed a cop and picked it right back up that way? You'd be back to the same issue, unless I'm missing something.

Yeah that's true... Unless they provide an option to turn on that disallows weapons to be picked up, and only picks up the ammo.

I've actually put off buying new DLC weapons in the past because I didn't want to have to scroll through them on my weapon wheel to get to the only weapons I actually use. That snub-nosed pistol that came out for the Beach Bum DLC I hesitantly bought just in case it was a limited time thing. Worthless. I even regret buying the Special Carbine. I haven't bought the Bullpup rifle and don't plan on it.

Shoot, the only guns I use are the Carbine Rifle, Heavy Sniper, and the AP Pistol.

Yeah that's true... Unless they provide an option to turn on that disallows weapons to be picked up, and only picks up the ammo.

And, when that person did that and was killed as a result of not being able to use a weapon that they locked out of their wheel, the complaining would start... Even though it's their own damn fault.

Look at one of the RP reset threads for more on that: "Yeah, I used a DNS server, but I shouldn't have my rank reset!!!!!!!!!!!11111"

Not much personal accountability among those kind of people...

Dropping the weapon means you have to go and buy it again at the ammunation though doesn't it? Whereas leaving your gun in the apartment means you can just go and get it whenever you need.. And lets be honest, people can't complain leaving 1 gun in the apartment..

It's like leaving 1 assault rifle in the apartment, you still have 3 more

Nope, having all of them on me at once has no down side.

I'd rather have the choice :)

Dunno. As I said, never dropped a gun intentionally.

No disagreement here...

"People can't complain"...? Ah... You've only been here a week. You'll learn that people can, and will, complain about just about EVERYTHING
