BENNY BLANCO
We have two sides of the coin here. Tails: Gamers complain Franklin wasn't hood enough. Franklin's high street IQ doesn't meet their linear stereotypical perceptive of hood life. Heads: complainants Franklin moved out the hood was too soon(Lester's Missions Optional)/ hood story has been done 100 times. People gonna bitch no matter what, you can’t please everyone. Franklin mirrors the modern day hustler. If the story was based on moronic gang banger like Lamar we’d be killed 5 missions in. In closing, I do agree; Franklin was under-developed. But If you have not notice, the gaming industry has changed. ONLINE IS KING. GTA V’s target demographic audience is not interested in immersive storyline experience. BrokenLizard
This thread is so blunt, yet so damn true. "Yeah, whatever you say homie. I'm drunk, but I'm not gettin drunker." The most annoying quotes in GTA history. Trevorphilipjfry
Osho
Claude doesn't even speak and he's cooler than franklin. W H A T ? I still pick Franklin, and blame the asshole writers who in the end can't present him to a respectable point and as cool as CJ, let alone make him as easy going and believable like any previous protagnists. Claude is mute and an empty shell with nothing worth to remember, what's cool about him? Though, for the most part, I don't know its hard to believe that people appreciate such drunken sh*t in writing of GTA V.
ViceCityNative4Life
In terms of Claude, like they say, it's the quiet ones you have to watch out for Franklin's ok. Doesn't bother me too much. I like playing as him, because he doesn't damage the cars when stealing them, cause he has that lock pick tool. Plus, I like using him to cruise around, bumping radio Los Santos or west coast classics, in a tricked out car, real California style! Michael's kinda dull when driving around and messing with people, plus even more so, now that he's trying to be more of a family man Edited May 22, 2014 by ViceCityNative4Life
luisniko
Why Franklin is like that? Because he's the 'student' of two 'mentors'. Franklin is developing himself by witnessing Mikey and Trevor, with his own dream to get out of low class gang bang. However, both mentors aren't good people and he followed the wrong men. He got his dream in young age by being rich, but with emptiness all around. Let's see what the DLC will tell if it's about Franklin.
Makeda
I thought Lamar's scenes with Frank's Aunt were pretty funny; we could of done with some more of them.
PlayboiX™
Why cant we get a black character who ISNT trying to get out of the hood for onceOh idk. Maybe because nobody actually enjoys being broke and living in sh*tty ass neighborhoods
autotheftgrand
Franklin's cool, he's just a loner. Been let down by most people, so he can't be bothered with people anymore. He's money driven and that's about all.
Official General
Why cant we get a black character who ISNT trying to get out of the hood for once Oh idk. Maybe because nobody actually enjoys being broke and living in sh*tty ass neighborhoods @ PlayboiX You kinda missed his point I think. I think he's saying a black protagonist in GTA that stays in the hood is more likely to have opportunities for a better developed character and more a fleshed-out, in-depth story. In closing, I do agree; Franklin was under-developed. But If you have not notice, the gaming industry has changed. ONLINE IS KING. GTA V’s target demographic audience is not interested in immersive storyline experience. Yeah sure, that's why many GTA fans are angrily complaining that V's online MP has been given better treatment than the SP, and that SP has been neglected. Furthermore, V's online is largely seen as a bit of disappointment, and over-hyped showcase with one too many flaws and a broken system. Believe me bro, when it comes to GTA, online is not king at all.

Furthermore, V's online is largely seen as a bit of disappointment, and over-hyped showcase with one too many flaws and a broken system. Believe me bro, when it comes to GTA, online is not king at all. You proved my point. 99% updates are geared towards online. Let’s not forget, Rockstar is a gaming company, selling video games to make profits. Casual gaming being the target market, much larger than GTA Forums; hence the online focus. ONLINE IS KING. It's business not personal. Whenever you put your expectations too high you automatically set yourself up for big disappointment. so give team star a break. GTA V only been out for 8 months flaws are expected. The developers are human beings like you and I not robots. It’s only so much you can do to please everyone. I wasn't happy with SP. It felt FORCED, and all characters were underdeveloped and lacked the magically spark.Once I put aside fan boy prejudice, stopped comparing GTA V with past installments I quickly began to enjoy my online experience. universetwisters
I think San Andreas screwed Claude up because it gave him a background. In my opinon, the best thing about Claude is that considering that he doesn't have a voice, personality, etc. we can shape him to whatever we want him to be in our minds. Is Claude a stone cold thug climbing up the ladder? Is Claude an immigrant who, after getting off the boat, began robbing banks with Catalina? Was Claude a corporate marketing analyst before snapping? Or is Claude an envisioning of the player ourselves?

Seeing him in SA was cool and all, but it felt really wrong to beat him in a race when Claude is supposed to be this unbeatable bad ass. It seems the GTA Online character has taken his role for the HD era.

Even moreso seeing as how I can't imagine rockstar screwing it up for him/her like they did to Claude in SA.

When it comes down to it, the Online character is even more well rounded and open for player exploration than Claude was.
Mr_Leone
I loved GTA 3. I loved the high camera angle and the driving. City was in ruins and gave off a good vibe.

Vercetti42
I don't know about Franklin but for me Claude is the worst protagonist in the series even worse than CJ. CJ maybe a bit whiny but atleast he had a personality and a backstory whilst Claude had almost none of it.
