Sandking XL - Nowhere to be found online

Title pretty much says it all. If I want a car and I know (or suspect) it can be stolen "in the wild", so to speak, I'll hunt it down rather than just going to the car site and buying it. It takes longer but it's more fun to actually find it, drive it home and then track and insure it. To me, anyway.

 

I was looking for the Sandking XL online but couldn't find it, so I went ahead and checked google. Sent me to gta.wikia.com where the page for sandking said the following under "locations" (Online, not singleplayer which they just call GTA V); "Seen rarely driving around Sandy Shores with its SWB counterpart."

I also found threads on other forums and youtube video's of people showing themselves finding this car driving around or parked, and people claiming that it can be found here and there, perhaps at certain times or when driving a certain type of car.

Thing is, all the evidence I found dates back to last year. And I cannot recall EVER seeing a Sandking XL online that wasn't owned by a player.

 

So when people say they see loads of them, I just assume they're mistaken about the car and are actually referring to the Sandking SWB, which I have seen hundreds of. Just like the dune buggy and the bf injection, there seemed to be confusion about this. But video's and screenshots did show these cars parked and being driven by NPC's.

 

I have spent hours looking for this thing (whilst doing other stuff too, not completely wasted time) but have not seen it yet. I also would have known if it was just driving around because in my experience you either see a car (that isn't a super car or something) with a million others like it, or you don't see it at all.

And before you ask, it's extremely unlikely that I did find it but thought I was looking at an SWB. I always look closely and make sure there's the right amount of doors. It'd also be weird if one XL was hiding in a crowd of hundreds of SWB's.

 

TL:DR; Do you think they simply don't appear anymore or am I perhaps the unluckiest person when it comes to finding an allegedly fairly common vehicle?

 

I'd still like to find it, as spending 45k in the store after all this time would kind of feel like admitting defeat to the nefarious spawning system. Some will understand! =]

Try the area between Richman and Fort Zancudo. I've seen bunches there. Also, maybe the offroad tracks to the way right of Sandy Shores/Trevor's Airfield. But first, the area between Richman and Fort Zancudo.

Go to Del Perro Pier, there's always one next to the volleyball nets.

 

Also, it spawns a lot in Paleto Bay as well.

I stole one from the car park across from the LSC by the prison last week.

There's was loads around, but I wasnt after one of them , I was trying to get a Bf Injection to spawn. It didn't work.

I bet you've probably seen loads of those too. This game seems as if it's f*cking with you sometimes...

The small airport up north has a ton of them that'll spawn around there. Just drive around, there's a road that loops around the airport. I drove around there the other day for a few hours and ran into countless Sandking SWB's but not XL's although I've seen one spawn there once.

 

I wound up just buying it for 40k... it's pretty cheap in comparison to most cars.

I've got a nice modded Sandking you can buy from me.....only has about 20 yards of usage (GTA miles)...

Don't bother they chaged it from 4wd to a rwd car.

They didn't "change it" It's a bug they're aware of. All vehicles reverted back to the original handling files in the last update accidentally. It'll be 4x4 again once they fix it.

I found my XL on the road by Trevors Airfield. I see them all the time around there. At least one everytime I play.

I've never seen the four door model in the wild, I've seen plenty of two door ones in blaine county though. you just have to be patient and wait for the spawn cycle.

Go into a solo session and search the Northernmost town. I usually see them on the beach there, or driving around. The vehicle you're driving also affects what spawns, so if you can jack an offroader or a helicopter it may help.

 

To clarify; I obtained a Sandking (proper 4 door version) just last week. I nabbed it in the mountains just north of Madrazo's place, so they do still spawn.

Buy it so you can get some money back when you sell it, R* change their minds about selling NPC-sourced cars too often for my liking.

 

And yes, solo sessions = more vehicle variety. You know you're on to a winner when you see a Taco van.

Never seen one there, been at that spot lots of times. If anything spawns there at all, it's a Blazer.

Just went into SP, drove to the same spot and yes, there is an XL here. But I want it online!

 

Also checked the area between richman and zancudo and yes, in SP there are lots of XL's driving around there.

 

Could someone who found an XL perhaps post a self-portrait of their character with the car?

 

Still looking. If I don't find it within a week or so I'm probably just gonna buy it, getting ridiculous now. All the other cars that are supposed to be rare, I have found plenty of times.

 

If it's relevant, I'm on PS3. Mostly just play public and crew sessions. A few times invite-only sessions because people said that helped when finding certain cars, though I don't know how the type of session affects the spawning, if at all.

 

Checking the pier, the road south of zancudo and paleto bay now in online, invite-only session.

Remember, it has to be ONLINE and it has to be the FOUR DOOR version.

 

EDIT: Solo sessions are better for this? Well I've got the time to give it a try after this trip. A bit weird that the type of session that is supposed to be more restricted would actually help you find a rare car. xD

Rockstar makes no sense in a lot of things.

I found an XL parked on the road around the mckenzie aiport (the small one). Just drive around that loop till it spawns, but honestly if you want the XL one save yourself the trouble and buy one.

Do you remember what you were driving when you found one/them?

Driving around with a Sanchez, (MW) Mesa and an SWB did nothing. Lots and lots and LOTS of SWB's.

 

I figured it'd make sense to use off-road vehicles like some others said, but I could try using my Granger instead.

I don't know how the type of session affects the spawning, if at all.

 

Less players (ie one, you) = more memory free to load bigger/more varied vehicle sets as there's way less going on for your console to keep track of. Or something.

Ain't nothing rare about the sandking xl. I like the bumperless one best. Just do an invite only session in sandy shores,the things are everywhere.

No worries. For some weird-ass reason, my game seems to spawn more XLs than the SWBs. Used to have one myself a while back.
