Wiebrendh
That is true, but it is always nice to get some help to start learning by yourselfe. Just like i had
LordOfTheBongs
The only tutorial is to learn c# (scripthookdotnet), once u do that then u can just look at other people's gta scripts to learn how to use the native functions there is no such thing as a tutorial for scripting gta iv and the very few i have seen arent really tutorials, just someone showing you how to spawn a car in vb... not like ur gonna learn anything. Best way to learn is practice and read a lot, google a lot.
Wiebrendh
The only thing you really have to learn is the basic code template that u use for every class. After that it is exactly as LordOfTheBongs says
julionib
i made some tutorials about some scripting features i commonly use in my codes:http://gtaxscripting.blogspot.com.br/p/tutorials.htmland im starting to make videos about them:
LordOfTheBongs
^ your tutorials will show someone who understands .net programming already how to use native functions in gtaiv... i think the threadstarter needs more help than that. The way i learned and the only way i can tell is to learn some basic c# and then to start writing your ideas and testing in gtaiv, also i dont think i am unique or smarter than the average person... i just never gave up. I have been scripting GTA for over 2 years. Let's just say my first script probably took me weeks to make... if u ask me to write it now, it would take me 5-10 minutes... Threadstarter needs to think of a script idea and just start writing it. No other way to learn other than practice and google. If you want to learn like me, then join the gtaivnetscripthook irc channel on freenode and ask for help Edited May 20, 2014 by LordOfTheBongs
Wiebrendh
I started to make mods, failed. Then started to learn how to make windows form apps, and after making some of them, i could make my first mods
Maro Hannover
Thank you Lord of the Bongs but what i should google? Because the help of gta iv scripting is very less compared to GTA 3,Vice City,San Andreas
LordOfTheBongs
Thank you Lord of the Bongs but what i should google? Because the help of gta iv scripting is very less compared to GTA 3,Vice City,San Andreas it is going to be a slow process at first but come up with a simple idea like something happens when u press a key... so find like 2-3 .net scripts written by someone else that press a key... then review their code... any word u do not understand like if ur reading the script and u see some word like "void" or "delegate" then u need to google... "delegate c#", a really good site for noobs is www.dotnetperls.com so i would actually try googling first... "C# dotnetperls delegate" and read... dont worry about understanding everything when u read it... just read it and become aware... you will probably not get it until u figure out a bunch of other stuff but u will be aware of it. Not to mention on this site called stackoverflow, no matter what programming question you can think of, somebody already asked about it and some pro answered the question. Anything you could ever need or want to know is somewhere online... u just gotta practice a lot. The more stuff u run into that u dont undertsand is an opportunity to read about it and learn something. You do that everyday for a few months... and always practice your c# then u will learn. The most important thing for learning gtaiv is being able to read other people's code to learn how to use gta specific functions. download a program called ILSpy or .Net Reflector... these will let u read the code in the scripthookdotnet in c# and also let u read people's compiled .net gtaiv scripts in c# I honestly would also start practicing c# not for gtaiv but making a windows form app. You should look for a free online beginner c# tutorial that maybe walks you through writing a program. Once u learn c# then coding gta is easy... so just worry about learning c#... learning gta is easy when u know c# because then u just have to be aware of functions and their use.
