When I played that fos v3 mission and had like 10 people in it, there were all kinds of zentornos and adders spawned in on the road. I was in my tank. Had fun blasting them

OP, I agree with you that you should NEVER have to pay to replace a vehicle that someone else destroyed...

 

...but at the same time, when you take your supercars out into public free-roam you shouldn't be surprised when something bad happens to them. I either use my Gauntlet, or just walk outside my apartment and steal whatever's nearby on the street. Save the expensive cars for missions/races, and private sessions with your friends/crew...

Just an hour ago, there were about five of us chatting on the mics and checking out our cars when a tank shows up and kills all of us, and our cars.

I enjoy tanks there should better ways to counter them though, heavier missiles, armour piercing snipers rounds. Some creative evasive measures via Lester or Merryweather, smokescreens, decoys, traps etc. as for insurance I think it's fine as it is. You shouldn't be rolling in chrome Roosevelt if money is such an issue

As a tank owner, I'd actually say get rid of the things.

 

Or at least have the sense to offer tank-free sessions.

 

It's just going to get to the point where every player in a session is driving a tank, which kind of defeats the purpose of the game.. if there is one...

Suppose that also means jet-free sessions. Because we all know jets are actually a threat and tanks really aren't.

It's a dumb situation with tanks. It use to be the tank driver paid the insurance, then people started running into the tank just to make the driver pay because they were mad they were dying. You can run from a tank. They are kind of slow lol

 

I see a tank maybe every 5 days online myself lol

tbh, the only "big gun" that I'd say has any form of balance is the Buzzard... at least you can blow/snipe that out of the sky...

 

(though I've still got to try the two heavy sniper shots to the rear rotor technique on one to see if it works.. works a treat on npc police choppers..)

The tank belongs to the military. The tank is unused in any mission to date and there is no story driven interaction with the military that necessitates either you or the military needing a tank.

 

Of all the gameplay-wrecking decisions they made, the inclusion of tanks is the worst in my book. This ain't goddamn World of Tanks or Call of Destruction (or whatever it's called). It's just an asset to help R* get money out of people....you pay for the tank in the first place ($1.5m), you pay for the damage it does (insurance claims) and then you pay for the most expensive ammo ($10,000) to try and stop it.

 

Get rid of tanks.

The community is to blame. They first paid the insurance and got send to badsport if they destroyed a vehicle. People started trolling others to badsport by ramming cars into their tanks. So R* had to patch that and now you pay.

 

Its just perfectly fine how it works right now. If you get to close to such a slow moving tank, you are the one responsible for the loss of your car.

 

Also you don't have to destroy other people their tanks, just avoid them, or go passive mode and run off. Or your own tank or jet if you want to kill them because you are butthurt to death.

Since they nerfed sniper rifles so they don't penetrate tank drivers' faces any more I've had to find other ways to turn their griefing attempts into fun. I came up with the snappy title, "You can't catch me on my Akuma, you fat-arsed slow metal pussy, but I'll tease you into trying, and see how far I can drag you across the map".

 

I did have a most amusing time with a tank over the weekend. I was in a session with proper tanks noobs and just happened to be passing the police station when one appeared. I noticed a tentative dot nearby so I got in the tank and texted him, "Is this your tank?". He replied, calling me "Bro" and asking for it back. Oh the next hour was funny. I managed to get all the way up to Paleto Bay without getting police attention, but I got *plenty* of text messages. They alternated between "Please oh beautiful give me my car" (it's a tank, duh!!), and "YOU ARE DEAD". I totally trashed it till it was nearly exploded and then lodged it between some trees on a hillside.

 

f*cking tank noob. If you're gonna use a tank, LEARN HOW TO USE A TANK.
