What could have been added to the map?

A stadium would've been cool. Like, with a bit of extra land they could've put one where that baseball field in the north of Bohan is.

It would’ve been cool for Firefly Island to be an actually island like it’s real life counterpart Coney Island. To add on to this, I also would’ve liked to go into some of the rides and attractions like the Ferris wheel, haunted house, bumper cars, and mini golf. However since IV takes place in fall, the game would have to take place during late spring/ summer.

Despite its name, Coney Island is actually a peninsula and not an island, although it used to be.

Anyway, Staten Island stood out to me as one glaring omission from the map. However, if you know anything about us New Yorkers, we sort of regard SI as the ugly stepsister of the five boroughs, so it comes as no surprise it wasn’t featured in the game. New Jersey (Alderney) was such a smart alternative to SI because, while the two share a similar drab aesthetic IMO, Jersey is a much larger and more diverse location (obviously, it’s a state compared to a borough) to draw from and it has a well-known Mafia history and presence (which was factored into the main story).

Considering how rabid Yankees fans are, at least some sort of depiction of Yankee Stadium in South Bohan would’ve been a nice touch, instead of that bogus baseball diamond we were given. Also, a depiction of Aqueduct Racetrack somewhere in Willis, Dukes would’ve allowed Niko to place bets on horse races á la SA. I don’t remember if sports betting was made illegal in NY by 2008 (or if it came later), but if it was, then maybe that explains the lack of a racetrack, as well as the various OTB shops that are present but cannot be entered around the city.

It might've been a deliberate choice not to include gambling since Niko disapproves of Roman doing it and it isn't really in his character to gamble/be reckless with money. I do kind of miss not having a way to become ridiculously rich in the game, but maybe that was deliberate too.

The exclusion of Madison Square Garden has always puzzled me and I think the ground zero memorial should've been included(Though I'm not sure what stage it was up to in 2008). Although I can understand why it wasn't I think it would've been a nice touch.

I mean, you clearly said Coney Island was an actual island. Don’t get all embarrassed now lol.

Who said anything about being embarrassed? Maybe I should’ve reworded my post about Coney Island better. When I meant like it’s counter part, I meant that as looking exactly like it. You’re right it’s not an island but it kinda does. At least to me.
