SoftTouch
Ubisoft teams in Montreal, Toronto, Singapore, Quebec, Annecy, Shanghai, Chengdu, Kiev, Montpellier, and Bucharest are working on this year's game. Ubisoft employs 9,200 people worldwide, including 7,800 dedicated specifically to game development. It's unclear how many people in total are working on Assassin's Creed Unity. For competitive reasons, it's unlikely Ubisoft would share this information. We asked Ubisoft to say what percentage of Ubisoft's entire workforce is working on Assassin's Creed Unity, but were told, "We do not comment on this number." Assassin's Creed Unity launches this holiday for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It is set in the French Revolution. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/10-studios-are-working-on-assassin-s-creed-unity-that-s-three-more-than-ac4/1100-6419664/ Sorry if it was posted. Mista J
That can't be good. How does it take 10 teams? Do they like spread it out like one team does coding, one does level design, etc, etc. That's a clusterf*ck tbh.

godforgivesthelostdont
the problem with separate teams is the game feels disjointed. look at final fantasy 13, amazing graphics, but disjointed game
universetwisters
Holy damn. That's a lot. How many studios altogether did it take for GTA V to be made? All I know is that one studio made GTA 3 and even then, it was better than V. Just because you put a lot of people on it doesn't automatically mean that it'll be a better game. HaythamKenway
@godforgivesthelostdont I don't know man. Pretty much all Rockstar titles are collaboration projects nowadays. Especially MP3, which was originally a Rockstar Vancouver game, but ended up being a "shared" title across pretty much all studios. And previous ACs had multiple studios working on them too and it worked. However, I agree that Ubisoft's output is insane. I read up that Ubi Montreal is 2500+ people strong. So many of Ubi's big titles, from AC to Watch Dogs and Far Cry are made there. That's just ridiculous, that's not a game studio, that's a game factory. I defended Ubisoft so far and had pretty much no reason to personally hate on them (AC is still fresh for me with every installment), but I have to admit that when I read about their "philosophy" from their recent financial conference - especially those bits about releasing new sequels more often and forcing social integration/multiplayer everywhere, I felt like Johnny in that one scene in TLaD, where he's sitting in the bar all tired and just tells Billy: "Please, don't be a d*ck." But, you know, at least they still put out good games. Unlike someone else. *cough* EA. *cough* Edited May 18, 2014 by SFPD officer

Creed Bratton
f*ck those Nazi bastards. Hope Ubisoft are killed in the worst way possible. What the f*ck is wrong with you? Anyway, lousy team coordination was the reason why Assassin's Creed 3 was a clusterf*ck. Their own developers said as much. Ten teams just means that there's a higher chance of something going wrong and it proves that Ubisoft would gladly trade quality for quantity so they can keep making these games every year. It doesn't matter how many good games they can come up with. Sooner or later they'll f*ck up royally or people will simply get bored. My only hope is that a wild west themed AC will happen before the franchise collapses. Coin
Holy damn. That's a lot. How many studios altogether did it take for GTA V to be made? All I know is that one studio made GTA 3 and even then, it was better than V. Just because you put a lot of people on it doesn't automatically mean that it'll be a better game. All seven of Rockstar's studios were involved to varying degrees in the development of GTA V. That number is a bit misleading though, due to the specialised nature of [some of] Rockstar's studios. For example: Rockstar Lincoln handles all QA for Rockstar titles (and some localisation IIRC) and Rockstar Japan handling all localisation in the Asian market. In any case, 10 studios is really excessive and off the top of my head none of them are actually set up in a specialised manner. Doesn't really instill one with much confidence personally. Audiophile
Lol at all the rage in this topic. One in particular has shown his usual childish rage full self. 10 studios? Well, who gives a f*ck, as long as the next game they put out is decent. Will it be? Judging by the last few AC games, somewhat doubtful. 10 studios is excessive but I guess it's what they need to put this game out annually and on next-gen. I just hope there's decent coordination between all the studios and it's not a complete clusterf*ck. I'll reserve judgement until I see actual game footage, as always. While past patterns are usually a great indiction of the future, you can never surely know. Maybe with next-gen they can pull off something...."better" than the last games have been. Sunrise Driver
Multiple R* studios were working on RDR2 and Max Payne 3 and LA Noire. Multiple Ubisoft studios - on AC2 series. Now good luck with your unjustified hate. I can tell you for a fact that Ubisoft Bucharest is in charge of the PC version. I hope. Last AC PC games were ported by Ubisoft Kyiv and these ports weren't good on release day. Edited May 18, 2014 by Street Mix

Tchuck
Man, that must be a management nightmare. At EA we had to coordinate with a couple other studios around the world, and it was a pain in the butt. FranklinDeRoosevelt
Who the f*ck are you to tell me that? Why is it insulting for me to compare them to Nazi's, Ubisoft aren't German are they? And if they were, why would it be insulting when I'm referring that towards their handling of their games. They are destroying their quality of their games by using methods such as this. They are even planning to milk the Watch Dogs franchise, and that's just an absolute atrocity. I don't care if I wish death on them or not, they think they are smart and can fool people. Yes I do, I don't mean literally, I mean figuratively, and that is the f*cking Ubisoft c*nts who use this many people just for one damn game. And what happens when it goes wrong? Assassins Creed: Revelations, Assassins Creed 3, two of the sh*ttest games they've made in the whole series, absolutely horendous games, which even critics and a lot of users can agree with. And now Watch Dogs will be ruined because they want to milk it and turn it into a franchise and uses these many employees just to WORK ON THE DAMN GAME. Like someone has already said, TLOU was made by a very small group and look how the game turned out to be. Pure quality. Absolute geniuses work at Naughty Dog. And that game was on the last gen consoles. LAST GEN CONSOLES. Edited May 19, 2014 by FranklinDeRoosevelt
El Dildo
I love all the jumping to conclusions in this thread. and Roosevelt looks like an idiot. you guys seriously; there's no law in nature that says 'the more studios working on a game, the worse that game will be' the number of people working on a game has literally nothing to do with anything. and who cares how many times Ubisoft wants to milk their cash cow? as long as the games are good, they can milk that sh*t until it's bleeding dry and their hands fall off. so far - aside from AC3 - I haven't actually played a bad AC game. FranklinDeRoosevelt
I think you're the idiot here. I was actually saying what happens when they use so many employees and it goes wrong. AC3 was sh*t. Revelations was not an improvement from the previous one at all, and story was way below par. What I'm saying is, if they are going to use so many employees, they shouldn't be rushing it, they should be taking more time to perfect the game, polish it more and so on.
