xoC18H21NO3xo
Since the search upgrade yesterday, I have been having trouble accessing this site. I get the "oops! Google Chrome could not find gtaforums.com" message. I have to press CTRL+F5 in order to get the page to load. Right now, all of the graphics are blank at the top of the page. Finally, I was able to log in. I uninstalled Chrome. Re-installed Chrome. This is the only site I'm having trouble with right now. Any help would be appreciated. chrisscorsese88
Does this happen on a different browser? I'm currently using Opera (not many people use this browser) and I rarely have problems loading this site unless the servers themselves are down. MrKush
Happening to me a lot from a mobile device. Started last night & I'm still having trouble. At least I'm on the site now. There's a website called isitdownrightnow.com that seemingly updates you by the minute on the status of any website's server(s)..... a moment ago it said GTAforums is down, & that proved to be true. 3 mins later I refreshed, told me site is back up, & here I am. You can stay updated there
Kirsty
The same is happening to me. Intermittent downtime where it gives me that same message on Chrome as if the website doesn't exist, won't load for ages, then suddenly comes back. Sometimes the images aren't loading as well. I've just been able to get it to load by opening an incognito window. It must be server issues, but we'll have to wait for an admin to look into that if it is, or it might just be some random downtime.
xoC18H21NO3xo
Thank you, I've been using that site also. At first, it told me "gtaforums is down for you" and now it says "gtaforums is down for everyone"
MrKush
Yeah same I've taken notice of that. Seems to be partially improved hope it can continue. I totally bookmarked that site lol
brose_sfr
the site is working on Chrome for me (a little slow) but im gettting no response on my iPhone. "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found" #bummer.
poppafewpills
Same here, started getting troubled last night. Kept showing me this... " This webpage is not available The server at gtaforums.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Internet from accessing the network. "
Vanto
Same here. Sometimes the problem stood for minutes, sometimes for hours. Detective Phelps
Solution Tank Posted May 16, 2014 Solution Share Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Update: It appears that the connectivity issues are being caused by one of our network providers. We are working with them to resolve the problem ASAP. Thanks for your patience. MrKush
Yo vanto I dig that avatar. As of now for me, it seems I can access the site for 5-7 mins before it goes back down, for roughly 2-4 minutes. Then service is restored & the cycle continues
Vanto
The problem still stands for me.

Der Süden
Same here since yesterday. It often says "Website not available." It's not my smartphone, all other websites work as usual without any problems. So far this issue occurred mostly in the late evening and night hours for me (GMT +1). Hope it will get fixed soon. Crunch McThornbody
I think it's a DNS issue, if I go through a VPN service (which uses different DNS servers to my ISP) I can view this site, but not if I go direct, the same thing happened with torrentfreak.com a week or two ago, they also appear to use cloudflare DNS servers. Right now I can view this site fine without having to use a VPN because I put these two lines into my "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" text file: 108.162.197.26 gtaforums.com109.123.116.90 media.gtanet.com Edited May 16, 2014 by Crunch McThornbody
Tank
CloudFlare have informed us that they are currently mitigating an attack on their DNS servers. Until then they have no option but to rate-limit DNS requests. Adriaan
Until this technical problem is sorted by GTANet's hosting provider - the following should work. I have tested this myself and it seems to do the job. Use Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8). Click the below link, and scroll to your operating system if you don't know how to set it up. https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using#setup xoC18H21NO3xo
Spider-Vice
Would it not have to do with Cloudflare's outgoing DNS anyway? I'd assume any DNS you use wouldn't resolve their domains because they're limiting the requests internally. Adriaan
Unsure. The site works for me using Google's public dns - whereas without it just times out.
Spider-Vice
It is pretty intermittent in here, so well it probably depends on the routing or something. poppafewpills
I seem to be having the issue when using WiFi on my mobile device. When I shut off WiFi page will load without issue. I've been at three different locations and used there separate networks, all hanging and giving the same result. Yet when I shut off WiFi I haven't seen an issue. Tank
CloudFlare appear to have lifted the DNS rate-limiting, but we'll continue to keep an eye on it. Please do not PM staff regarding support issues - use The GTA Network Support Forum
poppafewpills
I'm still having the same results. On WiFi I get that error I posted, yet when I shut off WiFi I can access the site with no problem.

poppafewpills
Site works fine when using Google's Public DNS like Adriaan.Whelp, after poking around and investigating that link, I did adjust some settings on my mobile device and changed to dns to 8.8.8.8 So far, thus good. Thanks Adriaan for the link and biohazard for the encouragement lol . Edited May 17, 2014 by poppafewpills Adriaan
sivispacem
The Open DNS public DNS servers at 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222 also seem to mitigate the problem. poppafewpills
I've noticed that more and more people are running into this issue. I've had to change settings at each location I'm connecting with WiFi. I've tried to pass this link on because it does help. I'm not a tech guy, so I'm really not sure what changed... Maybe someone could explain why lots of us are having issues lately ? Thanks.
