How to fix freezing on online?

A fast 100mb/s fiber broadband should solve most problems unless its regional server lags which can't be helped

yep, eject the GTAV game disc, insert any other game and play that instead,

because R* has made a proper mess of things this time around :facedesk:

I very rarely get them. I have a newer model slim Xbox, regularly clear my cachet, and have deleted and reinstalled DLCS a number of times as part of a certain harmless glitch. Get all the usual crap, time outs, random disconnections etc but rarely a freeze.

i read about a PS3 solution, something with repairing your ps3 system... but i cant remember the names or how to...

there was a pic with three option, shown in the ps3 system. all about restoring/repairing datafiles...

people say it helps, though i never needed i or tried it, since my freezes are gone

what i can say is that if you have a YLOD on your ps3, the oven technique really works! but thats a different topic.

Goodness! Why did you make 2 threads for the same damn question, when you didn't need any at all? Q & A topic that is pinned at top. USER YOUR BRAIN NINCOMPOOP.

For some reason my previous comment has disappeared, so I'll say it again.

Putting your console in a DMZ will decrease connection issues. You can't get rid of them totally since many of the issues that people put down to the connection are actually simply bugs in the game.

Buy the digital version that worked for me.

I have the digital version and the game still freezes.

Granted, it only freezes once or twice a week, but it always happens when at the most inconvenient times.

I YLOD my old PS3 during a session on CoD, Took the thing apart and did the Heat gun method, but that didnt work for me.

What's the oven technique? Sounds interresting, 30 minutes at Gas mark 5?

Unfortunately i lost about 5 years worth of many Call of Duty saves, no one has been able to help me on how to restore it so everything was lost.

take out the motherboard (and take out the battery) and put in an oven for 10 minutes at 200°Celsius (190°C worked, the thing is that with over 180°C the material starts to close all the little microcracks, so when you just have a wheel for the temperature, stay beneath 200), then i took it out VERY VERY carfully and waited another 40 mintues to let it cool down, for putting it together again i used the most expensive (15€) thermal cpu paste, used it as smart as possible, and after that my PS3 never went as loud as before AND everything still worked. (40gb FAT VERSION, 2007) oh, and dont forget to reconnect the fan!

there are youtube videos out there, watch a few, get a feeling for it before you start, think about the whole process before you do it. i am not a technician, but i also dont have two left hands... ;)

but acutally the oven technique is just an alternative method to the heatgun, i just had no heatgun, but the heatgun needs some experience cause of the distance and timing and hand movements, maybe the oven method IS the better way...

Not so sure you should be cooking components that release toxins in an oven you use for cooking food.

As for the reflow itself it should make the console work long enough for you to transfer data to another Ps3.

my roommate uses the oven alot, i dont. but thats a good input, i should probably clean it. on the other hand, is an oven cleaner more healthy?

about the lifetime of my ps3 after i did it: its a few months ago (days after the 1.10 update if i remember right), my ps3 is still running, whole days through, long sessions, fan never ran on highspeed yet, though it did before. so all in all its a win-win and win again situation :)

Then you're lucky. Mine worked for about a month after I did the reflow. It's basically just delaying the inevitable.

oh and to get back on topic on this millionth thread about freezing:

i was at my cousin, on his ps3 with his account and his car i was passing south lsc on its right, heading for the airport (over the beach). my cousin was like "hey i've never been here before"

suddenly the game freezes and he just added: "and my ps3 hasnt been there too" why am i telling this?

because back home on my ps3 with my account and my car, i took the same route, remembered his sentence, and guess what happend?

the game was freezing at exactly the same spot! coincidence?

I finished with my PS3 freezing, what you can do, in this order, is:

Delete patches, then installation (savegames and config not neccesary to be deleted). Turn ps3 off.

Go to the recovery menu, and choose "Rebuild database". You will lose playlist and messages only. (to access recovery menu: http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Support/How-to-access-the-PlayStation-3-Recovery-Menu/td-p/19195118 )

After it reboots, reinstall everything (connected to online, so it installs patches first like it did to me, I have no idea if it works otherwise). When next patch arrives, if freezing comes back (like mine did), repeat these steps.

You are done

EDIT: I created a post for this, for further instructions please post here:

There's game data, and there's save game data. I assume you just delete the former.
