High Life Suit Buying Tip

Just noticed this, hopefully it'll help out anyone who hasn't already bought all of the outfits from High Life:

If you buy from the "Suits: Open High Life" list, then buy the corresponding suit from the "Suits: Closed High Life" list, you'll get both suits cheaper than you would if you bought them any other way. Using the first suit as an example:

The Smooth Black Suit:

Cost in "Closed High Life": $6550

Cost in "Open High Life": $5907

Cost of Black Fitted Suit Vest: $585

Buy from Closed High Life, then Open High Life: $6550 + $100 = $6650

Buy from Open High Life, then Vest, then Closed High Life: $5907 + $585 + $100 = $6592 (Saves $58)

Buy from Open High Life, then Closed High Life: $5907 + $643 = $6550 (Saves $100)

The vest comes with the corresponding suit when you buy the closed version.

As with the earlier outfits introduced in the Business update, even if you own all of the pieces of an "outfit," for whatever reason, the game doesn't recognize it as an outfit until it's been selected in that particular menu. I guess to trigger it in the game, it charges you $100 to put the "outfit" in that menu, so that you can select it.

This bypasses that extra $100 charge, as seen above. You're buying both outfits, but not having to pay that extra $100 to get them both recognized as outfits, simply by leaving the one missing piece (the vest) alone.

TL/DR: When buying High Life suits, buy them from the Open High Life menu first, then the Closed High Life menu... don't bother buying the vest separately, if you plan to buy everything anyway, as it will cost more to do it this way.

Not saving a fortune, but $100 is $100... with 16 outfits in each menu, that's $1600 you're saving if you buy everything.

I guess it's something, but $1600 is pennies really. I mean you can drive your car back to your apartment/garage if it's damaged to save a couple hundred bucks, but if I'm going to mod something on my car anyway I'll just pay LSC for the repair. I'm pretty frugal with my money but even I'm not going that far. Still, nice find. :cookie:

Who buys all the clothes anyway? I mean, I like playing dress up as much as the next guy but....I just buy the stuff I like so my wardrobe doesn't end up full of crap I don't ever want to wear.

That said, interesting find from a game mechanics point of view. When people say "such and such should be really easy to code/patch" this is the sort of thing I think of as rebuttal...

Little bit more research on this and... You save a lot more than $1600, it seems...

The prices you initially see are nowhere near what you will actually spend on the High Life Suits.

At a first glance, the suits seem to be a bit pricey, with every stitch of clothing costing over $200k. Here's the breakdown, according to the prices I saw in my game... Dunno if I have any in-game discounts or anything, so your prices may look a bit different:

Suit Vests - $3640

----------

Black Fitted Suit Vest $585

Gray Fitted Suit Vest $550

Navy Fitted Suit Vest $515

Teal Fitted Suit Vest $580

Red Fitted Suit Vest $445

White Fitted Suit Vest $490

Brown Fitted Suit Vest $475

Outfits

-------

Suits: Closed High Life - $106,794

------------------------

The Smooth Black Suit $6550

The Smooth Gray Suit $5995

The Smooth Navy Suit $7111

The Smooth Teal Suit $6864

The Smooth Red Suit $6088

The Smooth White Suit $6611

The Smooth Brown Suit $6275

The Smooth Polar Suit $6803

The Sharp Black Suit $6825

The Sharp Gray Suit $6270

The Sharp Navy Suit $7386

The Sharp Teal Suit $7139

The Sharp Red Suit $6363

The Sharp White Suit $6886

The Sharp Brown Suit $6550

The Sharp Polar Suit $7078

Suits: Open High Life - $97,712

------------------------

The Smooth Black Suit $5907

The Smooth Gray Suit $5390

The Smooth Navy Suit $6545

The Smooth Teal Suit $6226

The Smooth Red Suit $5599

The Smooth White Suit $6072

The Smooth Brown Suit $5753

The Smooth Polar Suit $6264

The Sharp Black Suit $6182

The Sharp Gray Suit $5665

The Sharp Navy Suit $6820

The Sharp Teal Suit $6501

The Sharp Red Suit $5874

The Sharp White Suit $6347

The Sharp Brown Suit $6028

The Sharp Polar Suit $6539

Total: $208,146

Now, here's what the price tags were on the items when I bought them. a few thing were "trial and error," once I noticed that the prices were changing, so chances are, had I bought things in a slightly different order (like not buying the Red vest before buying one of the Red Suits in the "Closed High Life" menu) I probably could have gotten the stuff even a bit cheaper than I did:

Suit Vests - $445

----------

Black Fitted Suit Vest ($0)

Gray Fitted Suit Vest ($0)

Navy Fitted Suit Vest ($0)

Teal Fitted Suit Vest ($0)

Red Fitted Suit Vest $445

White Fitted Suit Vest ($0)

Brown Fitted Suit Vest ($0)

Outfits

-------

Suits: Closed High Life - $21,853

------------------------

The Smooth Black Suit ($643)

The Smooth Gray Suit ($100)

The Smooth Navy Suit ($100)

The Smooth Teal Suit ($100)

The Smooth Red Suit ($100)

The Smooth White Suit ($100)

The Smooth Brown Suit ($100)

The Smooth Polar Suit ($5428)

The Sharp Black Suit ($100)

The Sharp Gray Suit $6270

The Sharp Navy Suit ($566)

The Sharp Teal Suit ($638)

The Sharp Red Suit ($100)

The Sharp White Suit $6886

The Sharp Brown Suit ($522)

The Sharp Polar Suit ($100)

Suits: Open High Life - $84,228

------------------------

The Smooth Black Suit $5907

The Smooth Gray Suit $5390

The Smooth Navy Suit $6545

The Smooth Teal Suit $6226

The Smooth Red Suit $5599

The Smooth White Suit $6072

The Smooth Brown Suit $5753

The Smooth Polar Suit ($5428)

The Sharp Black Suit $6182

The Sharp Gray Suit ($100)

The Sharp Navy Suit $6820

The Sharp Teal Suit $6501

The Sharp Red Suit $5874

The Sharp White Suit ($100)

The Sharp Brown Suit $6028

The Sharp Polar Suit ($5703)

Total: $106,526

That's over $100k in "savings" there. Now, granted, some of that would have happened regardless of what order things were purchased in, but it just furthers the point that, if you buy things in a certain order, you can indeed save some cash...

For anyone thinking the suits were expensive, I'd say this proves that, in reality, they're a lot cheaper than the "price tag" says they are...
