On a Horse with No Name...

Just curious about those who have come to enjoy desert living.

I bought my second garage out in Blaine and I absolutely love it.

Short skip to the airstrip where you can call-in Pegasus vehicles, there's a Survival station across the street, a quick jaunt to the local AmmuNay, LSC, convenience store, and clothing shop - which is coincidentally stocked with the same merchandise as the fancy shops in the city!

And for me, I've loaded the garage with the kinds of cars you'd want in desert life:
Sandking, Rebel, Sanchez, etc.

How many of you all have made this transition? What's your take on the level of interaction with others?

I can't help but think of the Neil Young song, where he sings, "in the desert you can remember your name, cuz there ain't no one for to give you no pain!"

Cheers! ;)

I likely would buy a place out there if my character could actually live there like she does in the city.

Hmmm I might trade in my new Del Perro apartment for a garage up north, the only thing stopping me doing it earlier is the fact that there's only 6 slot garages... Ima need to sell some cars first...

Not 'desert', but definitely 'open country' for my Route 68 property - and my eventual Paleto Bay purchase for character 2 puts me in mind of this song:

I loved hanging around in the desert in San Andreas while that song was playing :) I was quite young and it totally immersed me, I think I too will make the transition to desert life as tanks make me want to dive in the TV and do some strangling xD I like ur garage set up too I think il give that a shot

I've made the transition, I hate them city slickers. Plus ever since I've raised the suspension back to stock on my Sultan RS and taken off the bumpers and side skirts, my horse with no name has become a reliable off-road monster.

Not neil young.

The song is done by a band called "America"

(sounds a lot like neil young)

However it is not.

I saw them in a free concert for 4th of july.

FCKEN AMZING when they did that song.

I dont really spend a whole lot of time in the 'desert' part of the map and have both of my properties in Los Santos. If I do want to go to the countryside however I will go up to Paleto Bay area as I prefer that countryside more than the Sandy Shores area.

The title of this thread just brought back lots of awesome memories. The desert life is the only way of life.

Yeah, I'm planning on getting my second garage out there in BC. I'm just waiting to see which way the douchebag wind blows before deciding for sure. I don't want to end up at the rural Eclipse Towers equivalent.

Loved listening to K DST in gta sa when in bone county listening to A Horse With No Name.

I wanted to move but I decided the 4 less cars weren't worth it. Maybe if they put a 10 car garage out there or allow 3 properties

This song reminds me of GTA III and Breaking Bad.

I had a garage there, but sold it in order to purchase one in Paleto Bay.

I've had a 6-car garage (downgraded from a 10) in front of the Survival near the Sandy Shores Airstrip and had a 2-car garage for my 2nd character in Paleto Bay. The main reasons to live away from the city is:

-no one f*cks with you when you spawn or are looking at your map
-a lot of time to plan your attack/defense (if someone is coming towards you)
-go offroading in minutes
-shops that have no one around them

Country life feels much calmer, too. I currently live near the docks so I'm a city loner but when I get more Xbox LIVE Gold, I'll be looking at the spots in the country. GTA V would be such a different game if it didn't have a desert. Granted, I wish it was bigger where you could really lose yourself in it but it's a nice one. It's a really cool spot to just relax. Funny you should add a RDR picture. I think horses would be great (SP at least) but it's a bit useless considering we have dunebuggies and trucks. Ah well...

I love it up there. I get on my quad bike an go around sandy shores, sometimes I'll get on my Sanchez. I pretty much can do what I want up there without any hassle.

My dear old Dad used to listen to the song when I was younger and I loved it then, loved it in San Andreas as well as in Breaking Bad and I wish it was on this soundtrack but it's not.

I'm in that same spot for my second garage. Surfer, injection, sultan, bifta, rebel, rusty surfer. Funny you chose to use a song reference, see also http://gtaforums.com/topic/708996-movin-to-the-country/

I picked it as the less likely to become the rural eclipse option, but apparently there's a tank delivery point nearby? Which makes the gas cylinders all around a bit worrying.
