So?.....Who's really causing the freeze? Rockstar or Hackers?

For awhile I been saying that Rockstar added the freeze intentionally to interfere with certain exploits/glitches that people are using...

Then I started to blame the hackers as my game ALWAYS froze in the middle me kicking their ass (for some strange reason they really hate getting f*cked up)...

But today while minding my business, I came across a lvl 999 in full monkey avatar. I usually report these guys but today i decided to be cool about it, as he was just chilling minding his own business---with mobs of people outside his house begging for cash.

I stepped away for no more than a minute to grab my lunch and when I approached my headset I can hear everyone in the lobby screaming crazy about whatever/something I couldnt make it out everything was happen so fast and before I could settle the earpiece all the way in my ear I catch over the airwaves:

Unknown Gamer: "....So what? You about to freeze the game? N-Word?"

Hacker: "....Im pulling up the Freeze now"

Unknown Gamer: "....do what now?"

Hacker: "...I said, Im pulling up the freeze file now..."

That's all I could make out before I looked up and saw my screen was completely still.

It's n-word conspiracy, mate!

The truth is: game freezes so often that some n-word speaker can happily predict it with serious probability.

I keep seeing people saying they freeze constantly. I maybe freeze once every 2 weeks, but I just assume its my ancient 60gb launch hardware just bugging up. Other than that I never have constant back to back freezing, last time I did was during the tow truck days and that only happened just a few times before you could just watch for it and leave before you did end up freezing.

So what about the freezing that goes on in one man invite only free roams?

As far as reporting freezing it happens even when you report non modders so I seriously doubt they have any influence over any of it.

It's when the tunables.json are loaded from the cloud into the game and it sometimes will brick your console if something goes wrong.

probably because of the cloud server... some files cannot get synced and then your console goes mental

edit:

It's when the tunables.json are loaded from the cloud into the game and it sometimes will brick your console if something goes wrong.

you are aware of the fact that when your console gets bricked, you are not really able to play just by restarting the console?

Many, many times I have had some guy who is a "hacker"...

...please, in this game calling a glitcher a hacker is like calling the maintenace guy who changes lightbulbs a master electrician...

...say that they will "freeze the game" or "delete our save data", or any other kind of nonsensical bullsh*t and I call them out, say that I'm waiting, and then they just leave and nothing has happened

Could be possible... Depends if people want to admit if they have sh*tty internet or not. Apparently everyone who plays GTA assumes they have god like internet and they don't lag ever.

The game doesn't actually freeze. its some parts of the process being terminiated when an error occurs in the game. i was still hearing music playing (no repeats).

I have Fiberoptic internet using a gateway to connect directly with my console. 30mbps down & 15Mbps up. ping is less than 100ms

Hacker? This isn't Red Dead... It's a combination of laggy servers and faulty patches.

The game will freeze in a solo or invite only session, if you're previously prone to freezing.

The last update made it a little better, I'm about to play for about an hour before freezing, after having an initial freeze or two within the first minute of load GTA Online.

i remember you talking about that in the IRC chat a few days ago. I tested it and my console froze after trying to update tunables.json too. I can confirm its a process being terminated too since after the screen freezes, voice chat works for another 5-10 seconds and then stops, which would explain the process being terminated right?

My connection is 50MB download, 25MB upload and 6ms so its definetly not my connection. Anyways, if we could get funmw2 to help, we could find the root of the problem. :)

I think it's just the old or unlucky ps3 owners with old or just unlucky ps3 consoles that can't keep up with the game. My ps3 has no issues but only 4 years old

I believe it's the console or the disk, not anyone's fault.

OP, you know Rockstar are the hackers? They are obviously hacking their own game so they can remove everyone's money, delay Heists and make us buy more Cash Cards.

Some games dedicate servers for players with ping less than 50ms because anything about 50ms is considered lag point.

For GTA it isnt that bad though. A friend in Brazil played GTA:O on a 700K down, 300K up connection with 300ms and he barely noticed any lag.

Players won't notice the lag on their own game. Other players will, If I played against him I would have a hard time trying to kill him because hes always one step ahead of me due to his internet not uploading his character information quick enough. Lag compensation ruins the experience for people with better internet. Some people purposely have lag switches running just so the can get the upper advantage.

It would be interesting to know if people who play single player ONLY (never touch the online mode) get this issue aswell...

The game crashes for both gta v and gta online, so it MUST be a damaged file somewhere. The real question is how this file gets damaged. Does a hard shutdown of the console cause this? Does lag or a cloud server issue in gta online f*ck up your game? is it possible that a patch causes this?

I kinda don't believe that it's because of the patch.

why?

Because if you don't have the exact same data on your console, you should fail the update check by the server and not be able to start up the game, right? (don't know if it's the same for xbox360) - just for the online mode of course (unless you're using a cracked console, then it works for online aswell) So it's not the update files itself, the console itself probably f*cks something up at some time.

I think it is another problem like the tow trucks that we haven't noticed yet.

I meant to say he was teleporting here and there for me, not for him. XD

Edit: i fixed the original post that you quoted. Anyways, idk wat happened, but his GTA:O connection wasnt lagging for anyone else on their screen somehow..

when I get a freeze, I know that I will keep getting them.

This must mean that a file is just damaged, that's my only explanation for it. And this probably happens when you download something new, so either you are really unlucky and the new patch corrupts something or the cloud server constantly saves new data on your ps3 and when you lag often, you are more likely to get some corrupted file and thus get the freezing issue.

It would be interesting to know if people who play single player ONLY (never touch the online mode) get this issue aswell. This would mean it has something to do with the patch then...

Well someone from this thread who freezes numerous times a day should turn their console offline completely and play SP for a day to see if they freeze at all. If that is true then that will narrow it down to system file corruption or the system itself. If they don't freeze then that will mean its R*'s end.

Thanks for that bit of information I've known since day one. I'll plan to use that next time when I'm making an example for someone who says having anything around 100ms is fine.

I once had a hacker join my crew mates and my session, he said he was going to terminate our games because we kept killing him. He then asked "who has Verizon internet?"(it was mine) then my wifi shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I called one of my crew mates and he said the same thing happened to him and his router wouldn't come on. We had to have techs come to our houses and reboot our routers.

So yes, I believe a hacker can freeze our games as well.

Only 30Mb/s down and 15Mb/s up? That's pretty weak.

Sounds like DoS, grabbing a new IP swiftly fixes that
