This is a survey to find out what people on GTAF prefer for race settings.

I personally like non-contact, no slip, no catchup.

Non contact is the best. I finally get the wins I deserve rather than get knocked out by some bitch who can't beat me.

Biohazard Abyss

Non-contact with no bullsh*t (catchup and slipstream).

Standard or Non-contact. Either.

Catch up off.

Don't care about slipstream really. I would say on if it was slightly less effective, since it actually exists in real life.

I personally like non-contact, no slip, no catchup.

Considering the ease of wrecking other player's vehicles, this is the only true way to race.

Which is sad because a little jostling does make it exciting, instead it's just a huge NASCAR pileup with any contact at all.

From now on all races I host will be catch off slip off non-contact. :/

You asshats turn catch up off? No wonder I enjoy racing only with my friends in private sessions.

Non-contact means it is no longer a race, the other people may as well not even be there.

A contact race with competent people who don't try to crash people is the best.

Lets the computer do all the work for him... Calls other people asshats.

Catch up in GTA / crew races is fine, but in competitive racing its the dumbest mechanic ever.

Catch up doesn't bother me. Non-contact is the best thing to happen to racing in this game so far. Slipstream can be a pain but its auto-off in non-contact racing so no worries there.

I wish we didnt have to go as far as having non-contact be an option but there are wayyy to many racers out there with no driving skill and who know wrecking someone is their only chance. I've been placing much better since it came out, non-contact is the only way for the time being to race when you want to win useing driving skill.

Do I really have to?

If you each did a time trail and then compared your times it would effectively be the same thing as non-contact racing, in non-contact there is no decision about taking a different line to overtake someone, blocking opponents from overtaking etc. in short: you cannot effect other racers and they cannot effect you, so does it even matter they are there at all?

Problem is there are too many cheaters out there, this make non-contact the best racing option to keep everyone fair.

I don't always play my preferences. If contact is on then I prefer to play with stock single locked vehicle. Stock locked to one vehicle makes it fair for everyone.

Passing and blocking are literally massive aspects of driver skill in competitive racing.

Taking "time trials" side-by-side is a lot more intense than doing them separately. You may not be able to crash into someone but you're still behind them hoping you can take a turn better than them or they can make an error.

Non-contact racing would be even better if Rockstar fixed the traffic in races. Contact racing is stupid because 9 times out of 10, you passing someone results in either you wrecking them, yourself getting wreck, or both of you causing a pileup because of how collisions are in this game compared to GTAIV.

I enjoy non contact but I think they could have made an option that just eliminated pit manoeuvres so the car stays steady as a brick if you are rammed by another player that way you can still block overtakers and its a little bit more realistic.

Standard.

Non-Contact is for little girls who don't want to get their pretty gingham dresses dirty.

Catch-up OFF.

Unless I'm playing with friends with slower cars, then I might turn it on to make it a more balanced race.

Slipstream.

Depends on the style of track and the type of cars.

Straighter tracks with faster cars: ON

All others off.

So far looks like most votes are for contact, no catchup, no slipstream.

Barely any for rally or impromptu.

Quite a few people don't care about catch up or slips.

Very interesting totals so far.

I need a rally win just for the paints.

I still think most people don't know about impromptu. I've pulled up beside many people wheelspinning, looking to race be but never activating an impromptu race.

If you are ps3 I'm down for a rally as I haven't got to do one either. I try to join them but no one else does. We just need 2 more ppl.

If I'm host I choose:

  • Non Contact
  • Catchup Off
  • Slipstream On

Since the update however I have yet to join a race where the host has non contact on. The only time I have played non contact races is when I have been the host.

I'm on ps3 as DiehardLouie. I'll be back on tomorrow but my mics broke. Criminal records should be a no-brainer tho. :)

I prefer standard for the realism, but non-contact is fun too. I find it fun to go my fastest without having to worry about traffic.

Impromptus are really fun when people actually do them.

Also, I've found a decent amount of non-contact matchmaking races. Funny.

Catch off is the stupidest and pathetic thing ever created and only people with no skill use it ;)

I am liking the new non contact races, although it does take a bit go getting used to. It's really weird driving through a car. I still tend to race as normal and overtake cleanly where there is an opportunity though. Old habits die hard.

My only gripe is I have never managed to join one. Standard, gta the odd rally but never non contact. I've only managed to host with friends - never managed to get random to join! I was getting to think nobody liked them.

I like the non-contact feature, but as a realist I prefer normal races.

However, catchup shouldnt even exist, it just sucks. Slipstreaming is okay I guess.
