Maybe this is why the Mental State was implemented?

Don't matter now if you kill an npc or player,as long as you kill you are a killer  Only petty fools actually give a damn about being marked by rs as a dangerous pyshotic killer, its not much different form getting a bounty placed on yourself

I'm not one to back down so easy... but what, do I have to leave about 99% lobbies now just to avoid getting into a fight with another player, just so I don't become a red dot? I don't know if you've been put in the lobbies full of red dots recently, but its full of lunatics. They are just there to pi** you off- nothing more! It's not even about killing anymore! It's paranoia!

Smoke weed, maybe it will counter-act the paranoia.

Free roam is like Iraq in every lobby now, and i love it, me and my crew/friends join a lobby that's going ape sh*t, we all go get our tanks and takeover. Lol

Ugh.
that's what i said to your mum when i saw her.Wow, that's really clever. You seem like a winner. c*nt.

On topic: Mental stat needs to be fixed, no doubt about it.

The only thing I don't like about the Mental Stat is even if your defending yourself against one of these *ssholes, it will still increase your mental stat. Also: Is the mental stat only apply to that lobby or any lobby in Free Mode?

No. White on red doesn't make you red. Good killing bad is ok. Bad killing good and bad killing NPC raises red

Time to design my batmobile....

To defeat red, you must become red.

It's a stupid feature that makes me hate public free roam lobbies even more than before.

All I know is that I can no longer set up my car with a nice view anywhere on the map whilst I take a hit. I get attacked absolutely everywhere since the patch if I stay still for longer than say 4 mins. I need at least 7 or 8 mins to get high.

Does make the game feel less dead though so I'm good with it, plus its like the prey jumping into the jaws of the beast when they approach lol :D

I know what you mean...I started flying a lot more helicopters cuz of this

I had my doubts about Mental State, but it does seem to be doing what its supposed to do: separate the sheeple from the knobheads.

The issue of raising mental stat at all for self-defense or killing NPC's has been well talked about and should be tweaked in my opinion. The good thing is now the fully psychotic cowardly playing backstabbers are realizing they can't play in free roam without themselves becoming targets.

Ah, well you see although this is a good idea in principal - but how does the game know if you are acting in self-defence?

I don't think the game can tell the difference, it doesn't really know the circumstances as to why player A killed player B, etc.

It does know if you kill a player with a white dot, your dot goes red(er) if you kill a player with a red dot it doesn't affect your dot.

If you don't kill any players, or commit any other violent acts of criminality - it will gradually reduce in redness, before going back to white again (eventually).

With or without mental state, gtao was & is still full of [email protected]#king a#@holes who shoots anyone & play their free roam deathmatches at other players expense, only way to fix this sh*t is to have a normal lobby like we have now Snip:

I think it is worse now if you have a red dot, you get a lot of attention - like if you have a bounty.

I wasn't checking my map before leaving my garage last night (full red-dotted) and there was a helicopter waiting outside, a stunt plane flying around (for some reason) over-head, then 2 players turned up in a truck to try and get a kill on the 'psycho' who just left their garage (on foot).

Lol, my new garage is far away from Eclipse Towers/Weazel Plaza/etc. - it the one up the road from LSC (the eastern one)...

The only thing I don't like about the Mental Stat is even if your defending yourself against one of these *ssholes, it will still increase your mental stat. Also: Is the mental stat only apply to that lobby or any lobby in Free Mode?

Only if you are white to begin with, you can attack 'reds' and it won't affect your whiteness...

Yes, it sticks with you even if you change lobbies, or even go off-line.

Mine was fully red quite quick after the update, hasn't been below 3+ bars since.

I do missions, races - more than free-roam...

Does it revert back? I've been enjoying the attention. It's kinda funny to me. I don't even use my tank. Used to to become red and have been enjoying the limelight. Some lower ranks seem to avoid me.

All it does is provide knowledge. How you interpret and act on that knowledge is up to you.

Knowledge is a good thing. If I see a red dot, but they aren't appearing in the kill feed, I assume they are just interested in cops and NPCs.

No one should fear knowledge, just understand its implications.

am krooked

I've been all over the map since day one.

I regularly take one of my sports/supers (I live at del perro) and go around the entire outside of the map full speed. Lot's of close calls, some huge crashes, and there's even a LSC at the top of the map to fix my car before the second half of the drive.

Most kids who play this game don't have imagination, so they're not going to explore the map, look at the natural beauty, or just cruise around.

They just drive by other players and hope for a war. And now people still think full red dots are bounties, so i've been chased across the map a few times by multiple cars, and yet they're doing it for nothing.

Exactly. I know who to avoid, who is generally safe to not have to prepare to fight and where I can have the most fun. It's info and harmless... if you hate being a red dot, change your behavior. Really... it's that easy.

This alone is the reason why everyone is completely butt-hurt over the mental state. Bitching and complaining that killing an NPC shouldn't affect your mental state. It's amazing how juvenile the GTA community is, and it's one thing in game, but the fact that people are complaining on a forum is just, why…

Npc kills should have no effect at all. What imbecile do they have at Rockstar North that makes these decisions?

All I know is, the Mental Stat system is, for the majority, a load of my arse.

If you go psycho "because you wanted to have some fun with friends" or whatever, then you're generally a constant target for the rest of the server, or any subsequent servers you join.

What this means is a higher percentage of players will choose to come after you.
If you defend yourself from these attacks, your own mental state will either increase or stay at the same level.
If you put passive mode on, you can still be killed (was shot off bike and when driving convertible earlier today) as well as the other usual method - being ran over, sat on with a vehicle or sprayed by water cannon.

Honestly, these systems must undergo virtually NO testing before going public. I'm losing a lot of hope and faith in Rockstar... Time to send my nasty letter off to them.

I've finally put measures into place to reduce my Mental State level even when I'm not at my console.

I wired in a microcontroller into my Xbox controller so I can make it press the trigger button every X seconds, meaning I just have to go to invite only session and enable passive mode, so pressing the trigger button does nothing in the game, except now the game won't time out and the controller won't switch off (until the batteries go flat, but I've got a workaround for that too).

You mean a wired controller with an elastic band... Wired in a microcontroller, really?

I only have a wireless controller. It switches off if I do nothing, even leaving a button pressed down or stick pushed in a direction it'll switch off, it'll only stay awake if it senses changes to buttons.

grand theft spaghetti

mental status should only go up when you attack other players. the rest is bs. the cops hit you, youre now in a 4 star wanted level chase, youre going psycho defending yourself from the cops, other players come to kill you for the rp bonus and your car gets impounded.

all because you wanted to buy a thousand dollar shirt while minding your own business.
