Mental Stat Problem

My initial thoughts on mental state was that it indicated who were the aggressive players and who weren't. This is helpful is someone is approaching and gives a clues whether or not they intend to attack.

So what is the point of mental state increasing when you kill an npc...I couldn't care less that a player killed an npc, I want to know if they are an arse towards other players.

Yet again, along with passive mode, a good idea poorly implemented.

Ran into a lobby with 2 guys in Tanks who had a bounty, one of them ended up getting a "Psycho" mental slate after having killed a f*ckton of cops.

Was it me? Cause I kill cops all the time and it only took me like 20 mins to become a psycho...... And this was doing nothing but mostly just driving around

I'm actually all for this new Mental Stability stat. I mean, I think it's weird how it goes up when you kill pedesterians ..but it's a good indicator to tell if the guy coming towards you is a f*cking asshole or something. Also, it'll hopefully make the lobbies less of a shootout 24/7. More incentive to start Deathmatches and stuff.

So, we need to not kill anything basically?! I guess we should also start driving in the lines and paying attention to the stop lights as well if we don't want to be psychos. Also, since you'll be seeing me as a psycho, what do you do when I come towards you and don't shoot? Because I don't run around mercilessly killing other players unless they attack me.... and my retaliation would make me go more "psycho"

Limit the killing. Plain and simple. Unless you want that "Psycho" stat, then you got all means of doing so.

Hey guys, this guy has solved everything.

When you play GTA from now on, DO NOT KILL. Seems that by doing so we would be going back to the roots...... wait a second, the game was built around stealing and killing.

So we shouldn't do any of those things? If you want a game to just race or just an FPS, then go buy one of those and not GTA.

This system is f*cked and evetually everyone will be a red dot because it is impossible to avoid killing ANYTHING especially NPCs and cops.

I guess we should just get busted now when we commit a crime?? Maybe R* can implement jail terms for our crimes so that if we do commit one, our characters will go to jail for X years.

am krooked

Remember, this game has a f*cking story with it

Which story is that?

You didn't quote me really but I'll go ahead an answer your stupid question anyway.

GTA:O starts a few months before the story mode does. You don't start with weapons, money, a car, or a place to stay. Therfore, if you kill people, NPCs or not, your mental health is questioned because you are killing people.

Do you understand now, Einstein?

Maxing your Psycho stat by only killing NPCs including cops, takes a long time. You can make it build quicker by using explosives. Also, the Psycho stat drops faster if you have only killed NPCs rather than Players. Also killing Psychos does not effect your Psycho level even if you shoot them first.

Psyciccobra

Does it cool down or is it permanent?

Because if it's permanent the doo doo's gonna hit the fan

Probably has a cool down timer, I know the 'Bad Sport' rep does.

It has a very very slow cool down timer, but I noticed I had 1 and a half bars, after doing 2-3 rooftop rumbles it went down to just under 1 bar, so missions helps it cool down faster just like they do for bad sport.

Are you kidding? Cause I went psycho after about 20 mins @ 5 stars driving in a tank, and most of the cops killed themselves driving into me.

The idea behind this stat, as they made it sound, is to identify players who you may want to avoid/confront. As such it makes no sense to have this stat affected by killing NPCs since killing NPCs gives no bearing on how you behave towards other players.

I went on tonight, immediately went on a tank rampage (killing a few on the way to pick it up), and after that just circled the city in my Buzzard, killing loads of cops and any player who came into my immediate vicinity. I am obviously now classed as a "psychopath", but have found it most enthralling. I for one enjoy a good chase, and I've just had a couple of hours of pretty much that.

I earned my psychopath status and I intend to enjoy it.

It's probs gonna be patched or fixed, but what I don't understand is how R* didn't see this problem

You had 5 stars in a tank and constantly killed NPCs and cops for 20 minutes. How is what I said a joke? I think you perfectly illustrated my point.

Doesn't take a long time.... 20 mins is not long. And I was only saying that it shouldn't count for killing NPC's especially when they die by driving into you.

Ya, I kill cops all the time, go on chases, I'm not talking about that, just that it didn't take long.

So far my biggest problem with this is that I'm a generally decent player towards other players. I'll come up on people and not kill them and see who wants to cause sh*t together or do missions, etc.

Now that I've gotten to the psycho level I basically cant approach anyone because they immediately attack, so now because of what I've done to NPCs I basically have to shoot everyone I meet or else I'll die...repeatedly

And yes, I will drive around in a tank NOT shooting players unless they attack me, and before this I had met lots of people who would avoid me (obviously thinking I'm just a nutjob in a tank) or realize that I hadn't wasted them the second I saw them and realized I'm not a douche......someone did steal my tank from me once... that was new lol. But now it's just all out war apparently.

my PS3 just froze in the middle of one of the more fun sessions I've had.....probably 4 people had tanks going after everyone, then there was a big tank battle, and EVERYONE was turning red very quickly, every. single. person. even those not in the current tank chaos, everyone was after everyone else.... it was friggin insanity, I haven't seen anything like this since GTAO launched and it wasn't to this scale back then.

So yeah, they kind of defeated the purpose of what the metal state stat was supposed to be for.

I keep getting a star everytime I kill someone ATTACKING me.

Getting real crazy. I'll admit, most of the people shooting at me are bright red.

If you dont like it...

DESIGN YOUR OWN GAME.

whapow!

Does R* beta test this crap or do they just throw out some new code in the office and the five guys working there mess around for 15 or 20 minutes and call it a DLC? I mean, it's a valid point that you get mental for killing other players, but what does it matter if you kill an NPC? [email protected] I run over 3 every time I pull out of my garage and I'm just headed out to sell a car, I'm not looking for trouble. It's poorly executed.

I think having it as a bar level with your other stats is a bad idea.

Eg: All my levels are full except lung capacity and mental state so obviously I need to swim underwater more and go on more kill rampages.

Taking a rip from your bong in apartments should reset your rating.

Now that would be "high" life.

I've actually found this statistic can encourage random attacks in freemode. Many of the RED BLIP players I encountered this evening were, you guessed it, roaming the place in tanks.

If they fixed passive mode to make it completely passive, I wouldn't complain.

Someone mentioned that it should take 15 hours (3 hours per bar) to go back to normal but I'm not sure that's totally the case... I went full psycho this afternoon... I noticed I lost about 1/3 of 1 bar... but now I'm back at zero (pure white arrow). Not really sure when it happened but sometime in the last hour.

Mine is totally gone as well and I got into the last bar about an hour or so ago. Maybe its a daily reset? Pure speculation now I guess...

mines still fully red. Has been since 11am this morning, just went back on, now just after midnight GMT... doubt its a daily reset. This feature has made free roam lobbies as much of a sh*t fest as when everyone had glitched money. Im not liking it at all. Especially since I got mine in no time at all from killing npc cops. Gah. GAHHHHH

The complaints about mental stats are invalid when the phrase "my tank" appears in a post. :colgate:

I calculated at the current rate of decrease that it would take approximately 15 hours to fully go, but a very short while ago mine went from just over 4 segments of the bar to nothing!

Trying to figure out if it's something I did or if there's some other component in play.

This is just a straight up example of bad game design. It encourages a spawnkill moshpit of red dots on every lobby rather than the one-on-ones it was before. Has the capacity to f*ck freeroam up badly.

Too right! A friend messaged me earlier saying how they think open freeroam lobbies are the new hell, being attacked constantly from all directions by most of the players, so I invited them to my invite only lobby because I too got fed up with the bloody target painted on my back which I had gotten from initially killing NPCs and then defending myself :(

If mental state goes all the way up it should disable your ability to see other players with a white dot on the map. I think that'd be epic.

so they can kill you faster right? I am in a lobby now and have 7 assholes after me non stop I dint kill any of them before they starter firing a me.

edit: and they came looking for me, I was far from them

I'm sorry, but it was impossible to f*ck up free-roam any worse than it was. It always was a sh*tfest. :/

It's only the newly anointed psychos that are becoming aware of what a sh*tfest it is, and now they are complaining. The rest of us already knew that. :bored:

Thought it would calm the lobbies down meaning less being killed but I think it has provoke to show other players how badass they think they are. So same old bullsh*t different day but hey we have two garages now. -_-

The fact that it goes up for killing NPCs is so mind-bogglingly stupid I can't even begin to understand it. How they made such a bad decision is completely beyond me. Do they really expect us to just walk around doing nothing? It should relate to player vs player conflicts, ONLY.
