Mental Stat Problem

You pretty much have to wait for a few(or more) in-game days in order for it to reduce, my mental state bar was full after going in a full-on massacre between players and cops and It was reducing until I decided to murder some cops in Invite-Only.

Today, some douches attacked me and I shot back. Twice I hit their fuel tank of their Zentornos, and killed them in the run. But now, after a lot of kills from both sides, I'm almost a phsyco, however I don't want to.

How can I lose that stat? It seems to decrease over time, but very slowly - how much time do I have to wait?

So if I understand your logic...

Today, some douche challenged me to a drinking contest, I ended up winning that contest. But now, after a lot of booze on both sides, I'm almost drunk, however, I don't want to.

Now I am legitimately confuse. Seriously is quite dissappointing to see people saying "if you don't like it don't play it" or "make your own game".

If you are curious about why does people complain? The answer is very simple: BECAUSE THEY PAID FOR IT. Yes, you paid about 50$ to play the game that (for most of us) was different 2 days ago. And yes you usually plan to play as much as you can a game that you paid for.

Now I understand all those who say that we don't have enough information or that the system itself is not a complete waste and I kind-of agree with them.

But overall, despite the fact that this idea is quite decent, the way on how R* executed it is fairly poor... And for those who might think that I'm a "red dot" fortunately I'm not, I'm a "white dot". However ever since the update came out (not too long ago) there were less people killing each other, now I can't get out of my apartment because it doesn't matter if they are "white dots" or "red dots" they are waiting for me to come out and kill me.

Now... After saying all this I'm sad to inform all of you that are complaining just (just like me) that unless you go to the R* support page and you write your thoughts, they won't change a thing. And even if they are willing to do so, it won't be instantaneous.

Man you would have loved the "CE" or the "NGE" updates they did to Star Wars Galaxies back in the day. They took a game that was "A" and changed it into a "Z" overnight and players were paying monthly fees not just the initial purchase (which was also there). What they did here is insignificant...imagine if 1.13 turned GTA into COD with zero warning that is what the "focus groups" said was the right thing to do lol...

People never know what they want.

I would suggest anyone unhappy with NPC kills being counted in this stat provide feedback to Rockstar via the following address to ensure Rockstar are fully aware of the problem as I fear just airing our views here may amount to nothing:

Email your feeback to Rockstar at [email protected]

I think the idea is great but only one problem. The killing of NPC's that increases your mental stats.

I never shoot other players and only defend myself when attacked. So in theory my mental stat should be low.

But I do kill NPC's (by stealing their cars, landing with my plane on a street killing a bunch of pedestrians during landing, just trying out my sniper against clueless drivers etc), so eventually my stat will raise. I don't think this is fair.

i dont kill first in gta online, the very 1st time i played after the highlife update some idiot came up to me and killed me just after i bought the bullpup, i killed him back, i killed him a few more times to show whos boss and im not to be messed with, some random guy got involved, i killed him too, now like i said i never kill 1st but when people do i make it my duty to kill back a few times, now im red, im getting random people come up to me to kill me, i try to go on passive mode to let them know i dont wanna fight, some noobs think im a bounty and try anyway then blow up my car,try run me over but i always manage to get to high ground, i kill them......ive been waiting to return to white for a while now and they keep putting me in lobbies with other red dots....

My initial thoughts on mental state was that it indicated who were the aggressive players and who weren't. This is helpful if someone is approaching and gives a clue whether or not they intend to attack.

So what is the point of mental state increasing when you kill an npc...I couldn't care less that a player killed an npc, I want to know if they are an arse towards other players.

Yet again, along with passive mode, a good idea poorly implemented.

EDIT: If you're unhappy with this change please email your feedback to Rockstar at [email protected]

A guy came up to me earlier while i was on a train i mini-gun the hell out of him. messages me "why?" I send him "you were red" *preceeds to message me profanity while he kills me off the train* I blast him with the jet when he least expected it.

My points:

*If you are red, there is a reason why you are red, ..i dont give a ****. So I rate this system as one of the best parts of this update. Finally I can tell who is a Carebear or not.

*Red rhymes with dead. You will be "that" if you come near me.

So, for example, if Player A kills 200 players and Player B kills 200 npcs, both are determined by the system as Psycho how can you tell which is the carebear?

One person poses no threat and the other is a huge threat but there's no way to tell which is which. How is a person who only kills npc's a threat to other players and why should a player who isn't engaged in PVP become the number one PVP target and RP farm?

Hold on a minute.

So you turn red if you kill a bunch of people, and you have to stop killing people to become white again. But, during this time people will be hunting and killing you repeatedly.

So if you're red, then lots of deaths lead to your redemption.

So.... red -> dead -> redemption?

You are correct, that could pose as a problem, I'm going to assume that if you are "psycho" you stay a psycho? But if you arn't..it'll drop down to white eventually? I ran nearly 100 NPCs over with the lifeguard ATV and was still white.

"dont shoot im white", i keep saying on mic and my characters black lol

So if I'm red that means I go from white to full Indian? Makes sense. I am like 1/8th Indian though..it's in my blood.

The stat does drop over time even if you are Psycho, I'm not 100% sure how quickly it decays as there seem to be varying reports between 1 and 3 hours per bar.

Just running over NPCs won't do too much to the mental state but if you get the tank out then it really flys...my experiment against NPCs was with the tank and after 4 mins I had 2 bars.

I think its an excellent idea but just wish they'd tweak it so it only registers player kills.

No they don't as long as the red dots are "fully psico people" if the person you kill is a little bit red then your mental state bar will increase. However the mental state bar will increase less if you kill someone about being psico than someone that is "normal" (a white dot).

Yep... lobby I'm in now shows almost all "psycho" players but many of them have JP so I'd say Rockstar input a bad sequence of 010110010001 and now we all suffer the consequences.

On one of the load screens it says that if your mental then you will start to go into lobbies with other mental people so you all can kill each other as it's what you like to do.

First time since launch I went and picked fights with people who were showing as red. Was lots of fun as they were happy to fight back and not run away or Whinge over the mic.

So this is the most messed up thing with this update.. I don't start crap with anyone, but i do retaliate.. I had this jerk run me over, so when he came back to do it a gain I blew him and his car up.. Then my dot went from white to pink.. Next time he tried to sneak up on me, I killed him again, now I am red?? I try to get in my car to leave and he blows me up and I have to pay insurance.. Yeah.. This is one fk'd up feature.. Not a fan of it at all!!!!!

As 20 million players have said, having NPC violence and property damage add to psycho stat seems like the most idiotic decision in the history of video games. :/ It completely ruined the whole concept of what it was supposed to be about. Unbelievable.

The only way I can explain this is that Rockstar hates us so much, has so much contempt and disrespect for us, wants to give us all the biggest FU they can, and wants to make sure we have no fun on GTA0. It's like they are saying, hey if you want to stay white, behave yourself in all ways, be a model citizen. You want to be white, you really do have to play like The Sims. :whuh:

So your mental state bar when from absolutely empty to totally full by killing a guy twice and blowing his car up once? You know what that is, don't you? It's utter bollocks. You should go to the Rockstar support forum and make a thread there that says, "Hey Rockstar can you help me? I talk utter bollocks."

See my experience is the opposite. Out of maybe a dozen servers I was in last night, most of which being between 10-16 players, I only saw two red (at any level) players. It is actually very interesting being able to travel about, passing other players in the server and never having bullets fly. I literally went over an our in one server without a single kill message...and it was full.

I think so far the system is working very well...the matchmaking is even doing its job...however I am starting to agree that NPC kills should take much less of a part in the calculus.

It should be known though that I have not changed my playstyle at all...I run over peds, steal cars, rob stores, pop a few cops and go about my business as usual doing races and stuff. I have yet to go over the first bar of the stat.

So while I believe that some folks are probably getting misplaced by NPC carnage...I also think that maybe some folks are not as passive as they think they are. That for the purposes of the system Rockstar is not seperating PVE and PVP...killers are killers...and should be avoided or eradicated.

So this is the most messed up thing with this update.. I don't start crap with anyone, but i do retaliate.. First off you didnt turn red with two player kills so f*ck off...

Second sane people call an ambulence and go to the hospital when they get hit by a car not go jihad on the guys car...nah just kidding...though seriously, exagerating this sh*t isnt going to help us.
