It feels like I've been thrown into Bad Sports, all because I killed some NPCs.

If you got your dot to turn red, you killed a great number of NPCs very quickly. You are a dirty mass murderer and deserve every bad thing that happens to you after.

You're joking right? You can't honestly be serious. It's a video game. Killing NPCs shouldn't have a punishment for killing NPCs like this. We already have cops that try to kill us for that.

Tell that to the NPC widows who have to tell their NPC kids that "Daddy isn't coming home today, a psycho killed him for his car." Our society is stretched to the limits by people with your attitude... NPC are Player Characters too. Honestly... I don't know what the "N" stands for... probably "Not coming home tonight".

I can't believe some people are defending this BS system...So you don't go around and kill cops/pedestrians? That's reially great! For you maybe. See, not everyone is like you. I myself enjoy a good cop chase. I enjoy getting the tank out and blowing the sh*t out of NPCs (notice I said NPCs and not players? I'll say that again: N-P-Cs.). So now because of me playing the game the way I've been doing since the second one, I'm now been clumped together with the most sh*ttiest of players; ones who constantly bring out their tanks to grief other players, run around in sports cars using stickies/etc, ect etc. Absolute bullsh*t.

I am not so much defending it as saying none of us know enough about it to bitch. However, your complaint sounds more like your just not wanting any change that changes the way you play. This system isnt meant to punish anyone any more than getting a wanted level for robbing a store would be punishment. It is a consequence of your action. Does it stop you from robbing the store? No. You find ways to either deal with the cops or lose them or call lester. If you really dont want to have the consequense than you find another way to make money. Similarly if you dont want to get mental over killing NPC's and your not dealing with players than why not do it in single player? Maybe your wanting the stats involved too? Ok then go into invite only and no players will bother you while your doing it. Then you say what about when your done? Well that is why we need to know more about what reduces the stat...it is after all a temporary stat...maybe you have to do a couple runs of your favorite mission or a gang attack or something...maybe a comendation from a friend does something, who knows...but there are ways to deal with it and there are ways to avoid it all together, death matches, missions, races, vehicle DM's all of the things you want to do in freemode can be done in job modes and you get rewarded for it. Or you can continue to kill in FM and deal with the mental status. No one is being forced to do anything...there are alternatives that rockstar is doing what they can to push people into wanting to do them.

some players don't like pvp battles, they would rather kill npc's and cops and once their mental state rises, it basically puts a target on their head which forces them to be in pvp battles even though they don't want to. so that might seem like a punishment to some.

@LuapYiller: If R* had laid out decent information on how the Mental Stat system works before they released it, I would of adapted my playstyle to it. As I went in not knowing how it worked, well, you know the rest. All I'm saying is, I don't like it, and as soon as I get back to "normal", as much as I like my occasional NPC killsprees, I'll just have to stop them.

So don't play it because there's one thing in it I don't like compared to the 100s of things I do like, all because I made ONE post on a forum speaking out against it? Lol.

Now I am legitimately confuse. Seriously is quite dissappointing to see people saying "if you don't like it don't play it" or "make your own game".

If you are curious about why does people complain? The answer is very simple: BECAUSE THEY PAID FOR IT. Yes, you paid about 50$ to play the game that (for most of us) was different 2 days ago. And yes you usually plan to play as much as you can a game that you paid for.

Now I understand all those who say that we don't have enough information or that the system itself is not a complete waste and I kind-of agree with them.

But overall, despite the fact that this idea is quite decent, the way on how R* executed it is fairly poor... And for those who might think that I'm a "red dot" fortunately I'm not, I'm a "white dot". However ever since the update came out (not too long ago) there were less people killing each other, now I can't get out of my apartment because it doesn't matter if they are "white dots" or "red dots" they are waiting for me to come out and kill me.

Now... After saying all this I'm sad to inform all of you that are complaining just (just like me) that unless you go to the R* support page and you write your thoughts, they won't change a thing. And even if they are willing to do so, it won't be instantaneous.

joined a session with a full bar and a red dot on my head and instantly get stalked by some white dot players^^ killed them all

its like i got a bounty on my ass - i just wanted to cruise around -_-

next session i joined- still red dot i got f*cked by some jet player- boom- red dot gone and i wasn´t stalked by anyone ^^

Yeah this really does suck. Someone who goes around killng NPC's can be a nice guy. I often join into someones police shootout a lot and they rarely will kill me.

I didn't even realise you got the psycho thing for killing NPC's until just now. I got out my car after crashing into someone else and we had to settle it with our fists. After I knocked him out or killed him, whichever it actually is (I hit him once lol), I got a warning message. f*cking stupid. I don't want to be chased down because I like to fight NPC's in the game. Rockstar really do hate fun and love to troll us.

It should literally only be about how many players you kill. I imagine if someone is killing you over and over and you decide to defend yourself, you'll get a warning too. They do all this sh*t yet they havent figured out how to make people with no money pay for insurance bills. DEBT DEBT DEBT. Not hard.

I think, at least in some of the case, we wonder why people spend all their time complaining about how they hate the game. To hate elements of the game is one thing, but to have no fun and to hate the entirety of the game... well, don't play it in that case. Yes you paid for it, but if you go to a movie and hate it, do you have a right to have the director and studio re-make it so it is exactly the Spiderman 3 you wanted? Because Venom f*cking SUCKED! They took an AWESOME character and RUINED it, RUINED the backstory and RUINED the entire motivatio- eh.... I digress.

Not everyone wants the same thing in a game, so we can't all be happy. We paid, but we paid for a specific product. If you hate the product, don't use it. It does seem a little pointless. I mean, if you're not in a mission or race etc then what are you going to be doing? Driving round blowing sh*t up it. I got a warning that my Mental State went up for robbing a store, a feature they put in themselves!

It would work best if you only got it for killing other players, but then you run into the problem of if someone keeps coming at you unprovoked and you keep killing them it becomes you who ends up getting the increasing (decreasing) mental stability for all to see.

Of course I would want my money back if my burger had a bug, dead or otherwise, in it. In video game terms, that burger would be broken. The game works, people might not enjoy it, but it works. So no refund is owed... when you buy any type of art, you aren't guaranteed to like it. You are only guaranteed that it "works", a movie that plays, a game that plays, music that plays, a painting that... i dunno... has paint in it? Unless it's a minimalist painting and it's supposed to represent the emptiness of life... look, paintings are a bad example, but the metaphor works otherwise.

Yeah - the topic says it all.

Today, some douches attacked me and I shot back. Twice I hit their fuel tank of their Zentornos, and killed them in the run. But now, after a lot of kills from both sides, I'm almost a phsyco, however I don't want to.

How can I lose that stat? It seems to decrease over time, but very slowly - how much time do I have to wait?

Yeah they def need to change the color because people don't look to see if you have a skull on the blip or not all they see is read they need to change the color of the bounty or the mental state to stop the confusion

I also thought that it wasn't supposed to increase if you kill a "psycho"... I mean, they said there was incentive for killing psychos, you're supposed to get a little extra RP for doing it... but I killed one and was warned that MY mental state was increasing.

The blip for bounties is a now a skull, and the color is more rosa when 'mental blood red'. Also, people might hunt you down, because they think you're as crazy as them, and by that an equal competitor.
