Mental Stat Problem

So has anyone confirmed if mental players have to pay for their own cars when other people wreck them? And if so, what level of mental state do you need before that starts happening?

I had a slight bar on my mental state and had to pay my insurance to get my truck back last night after someone killed me. About a tenth of one bar.

The only thing I see wrong with the mental state is the lack of t-shirt when you go full psycho.

I suggest this...

Pros:

1) You can see when potentially dangerous or "asshole" type players are coming towards you.

2) The intensity of the red matches their mentality. The Darker Red, The Darker their Thoughts.

3) You get RP for killing Psychotic Players.

4) The Bounty Icon has now been changed to a Red Skull.

5) Doing Missions helps with cool down timer.

6) Deathmatches and other jobs do not affect Mentality.

Cons:

1) The deep red or "Psychos" can be mistaken for Bounties if you aren't up to date.

2) The Mentality goes up for killing NPC's

3) Mentality goes up for defending yourself.

4) Mentality Stat has a slow cool down time.

5) **In Opinion** It has INCREASED the activity of Shoot/Kill on Sight, just so people can get the "Psycho" status.

6) Messing with friends in an invite only will still affect your mental status even after switching servers.

Mistakes:

1) NPC's affect status

2) No negative effect for "Psychotic" Players - Like Ex. Half Health? Persistant 1-2 Star Wanted Level? Can't use Lester's Abilities?

3) Difficult to avoid obtaining rating.

4) Can't defend yourself without obtaining rating.

5) Horridly slow cool down timer.

6) Generally passive or friendly players can easily be labeled dangerous and targeted by others when in reality they only shoot to defend.

Very well put Psycicobra. I like the principle of the stat but wish R* would tweak it so it at least doesn't grow when killing npcs or apply when in an invite only session.

Good stuff.

...lol.

I don't go around shooting NPC for fun.. But if i do, i would not mind seeing the mental stat rising.

That right there would kill the game for so many players, if you had a persistant wanted level then the only place you would be safe is in your apartment/garage/LSC, and you would have to stay there for HOURS.

There are already negative effects, too many motherf*ckers in the session starts gunning for you just because your dot isn't white, making the only safe places are jobs and invite only sessions with friends/crew.

I had finally got my bar back to nothing, so went to freeroam with a tank, killed a red dot player a couple of times and the bar was still nothing, went after a bounty (which I got) during which I accidentally crushed a couple of NPC cars and BAM! 1/3 of the first segment is lit up, meaning in those few seconds I racked up an hours worth of Mental State cooldown time.

Complete and utter bullsh*t.

I haven't been able to get more than 2 bars filled during my normal gameplay of attacking some players, defending myself, running over some NPCs and shooting a few cops. It took dedicated time and effort trying to max out the stat to get the whole bar full (I did NOT use a tank tho). Doing some gang attacks and missions dropped me back to white in a little more than an hour. Red dot players have repeatedly attacked me while I seem to pass by or even stop near white dots with nothing happening to me.

WORKING AS INTENDED.

They get higher RP for killing you - that's why they did it (or they thought you had a bounty on you). They couldn't care less about a stat.

I don't like it. Its given full excuse to people who DM on free roam, which of course is fine, but I found it more balanced before this feature was implemented... now, free roam is DM totally DM... and Ive played today yeah but I can't say I'm enjoying it atm. You dont even need to have DMs in this game anymore.

Oh well I might play a bit more later, but atm free roam is a sh*tfest and I am bored of it already, and free roaming is what I like to do best... making new game pals and exploring, trying things out with loads of people, I.e. a full titan or full bus or mass sky dives... its just not happening anymore.

Im playing some other games now because FR is frustratingly boring.

RIP Rockstar Games

Yeah no reason for it to go up on anything other than player kills. it goes up far too fast on cops and now you have kids calling you a cheater for going into passive mode whilst having what they think is a bounty.

Which part of all this was unexpected by you?

Having freeroam turn into a deathmatch, ALL THE F*CKING TIME!

Rockstar f*cked up, they tried to segregate the passives from the aggressives by introducing a feature that made all the people in the middle turn into aggressives. They should've made a new type of lobby where guns/explosions don't work on other players, so we end up with Chill Lobbies and Kill Lobbies, so you can join either depending on your present state of mind. With the cooldown timer in effect it means you've got this bright red dot on you, the only way to avoid making it go up is to do missions or go to an invite only session and not interact with *anything* except the terrain and your own vehicles.

I guess I just never knew how hard it was for some people to enjoy this online multiplayer game with other players playing also and at the same time. Its like adding a Mental Health feature has truly opened my eyes. Players are killing other players. R* should do something to put a stop to this.

What I find most disturbing is that some players actually enjoy mass killing of innocent civilians and don't want other players to know they enjoy it so much.

It's been out a day. It'll take a couple of weeks (at least) before we see how it really affects the game. There's also the fact that the updates always bring non-regular players in, so we need to wait till they've all/mostly disappeared before we can start judging it as well.

At the moment we have no idea how it will affect the game long term. This is all knee-jerk. I really like it though. I think it's breathed new life into a game that was slowing down.

This is a known bug they are working on. There is not supposed to be a change in how insurance works. Refunds may be possible.

It's hilarious how some people think that everybody in the world plays the game the way they do.

Naturally, the psycho boobs can't see that there are normal people out there. That's cool. You psychos will see plenty of us coming after you soon for the RP reward. Guarantee our blips will stay white.

Like Rockstar, it appears you can't tell the difference between computer characters and human players.

One type doesn't respawn and try to kill you over and over.

How much RP do you get for killing people? (Both white and red blips). I've asked a few times and no-one's answered me yet. I'm just curious as to whether it's actually worth killing red dots.

Yes people, if you don't like something in life, go get some f*cking training to design/build/operate your damnself. Just finished lawschool (f*cking speed limits) and on to medical (I hate my doctor).

Mental stability doesn't work well, it's too easy to get "psycho"... who cares about the lives of NPCs??

If people don't like something they have options. One of them is to come on here and moan and whine and change absolutely nothing, possibly winding themselves up even more in the process. Another option is to join a crew of friendlies (a large crew) and then join crew only sessions. You have all the benefits of playing with other people online, without having to deal with "psychos" chasing you down all the time.

That second option will actually resolve the issue 100% for everyone. They just need to make a slight bit of effort (find the crew or crews), which is why they don't bother. Bitching is easier, especially if you're a bitch.

Look the whole problem most of us are having is lack of information. If we had knowledge of how the system functions it would probably all make sense but instead we are all going nuts over bits and pieces of half assed info. I believe there is a lot more balance built in to this than we are aware of. For instance, as I said before, I got caught up with some pinks trying to kill me last night, defended myself, popped a few of them, killed a few cops, ended up pink myself...then I went racing with crew and after only a few races I was white again.

We need to hold our critiscizm until we have all the facts.

From what I have seen, we may end up with people who do missions and races etc a lot and dont spend much time in freeroam battles or just do things like gang attacks or rob stores or trucks or even kill police a bit will easily stay white through jobs and whatever else lowers the stat. These people will hopefully be matched with others like them and servers will be generally passive for them which they enjoy.

But then others who spend the majority of their time in freeroam causing havok committing crimes and not doing missions or jobs often will generally be at the upper end of the stat and will be grouped with like minded people and have their fun filled chaotic combat servers all the time. In otherwords yes for those people it will seem like everyone is psycho because everyone in their servers are red...but what they arent seeing is the passive people are just elsewhere...enjoying their own gameplay style.

I think primarily it need some time, maybe a week or two to sort itself out...and we need some legit testing to get some real info. On how this all really works.

playing with randoms is fun don't get me wrong but, right now free mode being the way it is, isn't fun for some. imo it was fine before they put in the mental state because before you were able to have fun with randoms doing whatever or you could get into gun battles with them, now it's just a huge dm constantly
