Discussion: Has Rockstar Abandoned the PC platform?

Proof or belief and speculation? I'm having trouble grasping the difference while reading in here, frankly. Don't know who to believe. Wanna summarize it? I already read the last fifty or so pages.

 

 

Oh and I don't mean to come off as snarky and an asshole in this one. I really wanna know. If someone could sum it well in maybe a paragraph and state their reasons, I may finally start taking this thread seriously. Otherwise...

 

I kinda just skimmed through the pages because of my tiny little attention span. But so far, I can summarize that ZZCOOL had got word from some guy who's source he cannot spread. Rockstar went through what many gaming companies do and had an internal delay because they were making so much money off the console versions. It actually makes sense. With having game that made the company so much money (800 million in a day) you can't really have them to make a different release of that game so soon. It's pretty unrealistic.

 

I don't think we can deny the fact that Rockstar had developed a PC version alongside the PS3/XBOX 360 versions. It would be pretty surprising and yet not surprising for the game not to be announced at E3. One reason being that everytime we'd have high hopes for something, our high opes would tremendously drop, well.. low. One reason it'll be unreasonable for it not to be announced is because it would be the first GTA not to be sent to the PC version since GTA 3. And we all know how much we wanna see that minimum texture pop-in, HD texturing and smoother gameplay quality... yum.

Well, I actually hope it's HL3, there's no better time to announce it.

Probably not. There's higher chances of it being L4D3 or a port for an old game. We all know HL3 was made from scratch several times, but L4D3 on the other hand is mostly copypaste from L4D2 with new assets.

Alright 69 pages folks on another rendition on the discussion. Crash another 60 some of these and Rockstar will finally do their promise. But all 69 threads must have at least 69 pages and they won't carry over.

 

So yeah. E3. This is something I like to watch every year simply because the damn coolest stuff happens during the event and even though it won't be new consoles this time around, it's still fun. I remember back when the Wii U just got announced there. I laughed at the name, but it had a great concept at the time. I know it's a completely dismissed idea, but what would we get if some form of Grand Theft Auto made it to the Wii U? It'd probably be a really complicated game thanks to the gamepad, but I think it adds to the challenge to the player and adds some challenge to the developers to come up with great gameplay ideas. It all comes down to sales though and frankly, it does not look like they've [Nintendo] have been doing so well recently.

My only concern about the E3 announcement is that it is dead close to a Tuesday.

Why this bothers me? Because we still don't have squat about the bloody heists. And that is supposed to be the last piece in the spring update, which ends on June 20. That makes only 2 Tuesdays left: the 10th and the 17th. If they plan to release it next week, well... I cannot see how they would manage it, I mean they never put 2 huge bombs (like GTAVPC and heists in this case) this close together. Usually it's one big news per month. And oh yeah, they are both like hydrogen bombs in V's history.

 

So how do you think they are gonna pull off releasing both of them big stars in the same month in a manner of a couple of weeks?

I personally fail to see how heists are still "huge bombs". I mean, they're a big deal for sure, since they were supposed to be in the game a month or so after launch. But compared to PC and NG versions? Would it really be so bad to just bundle that news?

Now if it was the same month as story DLC, it would make a whole lot of sense for them to spread the two out. But really, everyone's been waiting for heists for so long, making them out to be this huge "new" thing when it really isn't is kind of pointless. It's a feature that was advertised to be there soon after launch of GTA:O. Not almost 9 bloody months after.

I never cared about heists, but most of the players do. Big time. It's a huge thing for the community and for R* too.

And not because it's so amazingly awesome, but the single fact that it has been so damn far stretched it's ridiculous now. It is the reason why the top 2 Fb comments on their page is always about heists and PC (and lots of question marks) since forever.

And they handle even much less important updates on a monthly basis, so it would be a j*zzfest to people seeing the long awaited heists as a "bundle" with the NG versions. It's like birthday on a Xmas.

This would actually make sense and would be well appreciated ...by us. Unfortunately R* didn't seem to operate like this lately.
