While looking at the build logs I think I just found what renderer they used probably for promotional purposes or for physics simulation. They could really make an advantage from this on the PC version.

•Rayfire scenes fail to play. - 276626•216115 –“ rayfire has stopped working [re-work/optimse scene to reduce memory used]”

On build 153.

RayFire Studios plugin.

I have been experimenting with VoroFrag and MassFX physics, and will probably give RayFire a try this summer. It's an awesome engine with lots of possibilities, as seen in many movies where it's been used. Here you can see a technical demo:

It would be awesome if they used FumeFX too :panic:

Wow, it would be awesome if they used that Rayfire stuff in real time gameplay in next gen/PC version

Obviously old gen consoles weren't able to handle such demanding computations, but next gen consoles and PC's might be able to

Imagine destructible environment in GTA. Badass :D

i just say. this sh*t in which you believe (rayfire, phys x, and other stuff in an old game) will never happening, or they better release brand new gta5.1 version LOL

ahh...prob build logs are FAKE cuz rayfire tech, this sh*t cant happening with very old game

Haha, no.

As far as I can remember, and as Lemans said, they only used this in two instances.

1. Trevor blowing up that one meth lab place (Many meth labs in GTA V, so this is not a spoiler :))

2. The Blitz Play Heist (from trailer #2 and the official gameplay video).

Both were quite brief and were not anywhere near on the level of something Frostbite could do on PC or next-generation hardware. I don't know sh*t about Rayfire Tech and I can tell you that much from just common sense.

It's not unheard of that small doses of tech apparently "exclusive" to certain hardware, have been used on console games. But again, small doses. Enough to get the job done while still looking good.

Yes, build logs that Rockstar left in the discs are fake, totally. It doesn't matter if the consoles or the game are old, it's just a rendering and physics engine, fully customisable, why could it not run on consoles or be adapted to RAGE?

You can see RayFire in action here 3.48 mark :

I think RayFire is mostly used for cutscenes.

probably this tech strictly for cgi scenes and tech renders not for games

Did you really compare game engine to CGI (movie) engine? Todays PCs can't handle this in real-time, so you can't really compare these two. If you make a game that can use multiple systems, like that engine, and you have enough money to buy few high-end PC then yes it can put it to shame (I'm talking game wise and entire scene, not one animation...)

I'm not really sure if RayFire is able to work ingame. I think if they use it, it will be only for cinematics and trailers (I can think of the scene of the security van hiting a brick wall in the trailer, or the house being blown up by Trevor).

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not saying that they would use RayFire nor am I saying it will work in a game any time soon. I'm just saying it puts Frostbite to shame. Jesus people on this forum like to assume anything and everything just because someone has said one thing.

They probably used RayFire to simulate the physics in those situations to be able to port the animations to RAGE I'd guess.

All you're doing is building expectations for something you don't even know will happen. You want to know why I want to stop you from getting too excited?

I've seen this before in those topics I linked earlier in this thread. People get too excited, nothing happens, and suddenly the forums are filled with people who are either pissed beyond belief or depressed enough for a suicide watch.

It's like watching your little brother hit himself and by now he's got bruises everywhere and you try and hold his arms back, but it's no use. Some "reliable guy" heard some leak of some valuable information that said hitting yourself is totally healthy and will cure some diseases. So you stand there, trying to hold him back desperately because you know that the hitting only ends in pain just like the last 3 years. And every year during the few weeks he starts it, you wonder why he does it because he knows what happens. It ends in pain just like the last time.

Stop hitting yourself, guys! Stop hitting yourself.

To be quite honest, this thing started with saying they actually used (past) RayFire to simulate physics. I did say they could make an advantage out of that in the PC version but it was before I saw how it was actually used, obviously they won't use a completely different physics engine on the PC version. :p

Ease up. It's just harmless speculation. Noone is expecting Frostbite to suddenly power LS and make everything f*cking destructible and run flawlessly at max graphics on a Pentium 4 (<--- exaggerated example on purpose)

Besides, it's not like you have a reason to care. You've no emotional or even material investment in the happenings of this thread. Letting these things play out is the only real best course of action. Whether it lead to disappointment, surprise or joy. Or perhaps all three at once.

I've been checking STEAM APPS database, I know V is there but it's well hidden, most likely has a name that doesn't relate to it in anyway but I still keep an eye on this one:

I don't know why they would label this as a "Game":

http://steamdb.info/app/202770/history/

That's just how Steam does official groups.

http://steamdb.info/search/?a=app&q=group&type=-1&category=0

Oh that makes sense, thanks.

But it's so weird that they created that group about 1 year ago but have done nothing with it, most of the sections are clean and all you have there is user posts raging because of V and RDR ... they don't answer or clean them, it's like it's an abandoned place.

But what I said still stands, they made a huge fuss when V screen was released, but that is a STEAM community. That is like if SONY decided to make a post in STEAM about TLOU being a PS4 exclusive title, makes no sense and it's a bad joke... So that makes me think that they indeed had the intention to present the game together or very close to LG consoles but they called it off and that was the reason why it was "leaked" as a PC title back in E3 2013 and why so many retailers had it as a pre-order... they had an initial plan and they had to change it...

__________

I also find something curious, Ash talked about release and not announcement and that was what he was told (I know by who by the way but I can't say, I'll leave that for him if he wants), but in most of the articles I've read about these "rumors" there is some weird "typo", I mean I think that is a typo unless they know more then they are actually telling or who wrote the original article that has been copied over and over:

http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/new-gta-v-pc-xbox-one-ps4-release-date-rumors-point-to-e3-2014-24862

They say teh game might be "RELEASED" and not actually announced... maybe it's nothing but it's a weird detail because I never seen someone saying a game will be released at E4, but shown/ presented/ revealed...

On a side note I just found out I'll have a break of a few weeks in my formation in August... really hope that V is released by then. I never used video editor that much but a few cool ideas passed in my head while watching a few movies in LA. And they might work great in V.

OK daddy, can i go play outside now, or is it too dangerous? People have a brain they use it as they want and think as they want, don't worry no one will go back to you complain because they got hurt for believing in something that didn't happen.

rayfire rt...via a cloud? yes probably but using a desktop PC by todays standards...i dont think so (it wont run at 60fps or even 30fps so its not for games obviously unfortunately)

but i believe this level of destruction simulation will be in video games maybe 6-10 years down the road.

Please explain how 3 years worth of bug reports, build reports and status updates of all kinds are "fake as f*ck". They were found on the disk by multiple people. This was confirmed in September last year. Come on now.

Isn't that kind of the fault of the people in question? Although I do think that we should make it quite clear that this is all speculation and that it should not be taken literally and 100% correct, I think most people would know better.

There are some gullible folks who can't help it, of course. But even they would get the message that something is wrong when they see all the people claiming to have inside sources get flamed and called out. Surely they'd be able to connect those dots on their own.

Even so, there's no accounting for everyone in this thread. And I'd think "suffering" is pushing it a bit. This is a beloved game series, for sure. And I'm not trying to say that all emotional contact should be eliminated because "lol its just vidya gheims". But aside from some brief devastation of expectations, people will move on. There's way worse things to suffer through, and none of us can do anything to help out with those.

EDIT: Oh, it was a double post this time. I thought it would be merged into my first post, as with some other cases. I guess not. Apologies.

Ignorance sure is bliss. How is using proprietary technology made for companies where you buy a licence illegal?! RayFire was probably used simply to simulate physics, then to convert it to animations on RAGE, for the breaking walls and explodnig houses. Nothing to do with PC and nothing to do with it being used directly in-game.

Uhm . i think you mean RDR, Max Payne was just released two years ago dude

Oh you're right... I think I saw that wrong.

Anyway I just remembered something that is almost a year, but I think is quite relevant and I should have remembered then when i was told that V PC was a R* Toronto project:

http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2013/07/08/rockstar-toronto-developing-large-scale-next-gen-open-world-game/

Look at that, Rockstar Toronto (known for working with PC) is/ was working in a huge NEXT GEN title ... now let's think a bit, I assume that NEXT GEN consoles will be taken care by Rockstar North now and not Rockstar Toronto, so that could be the PC build. A way or another it's very unlikely that they miss the PC version of V and start to work in a new Open World Game even before V was released.

So now the thing is they didn't name the title, but honestly by the indications of it it looks like GTA V:

Designed and implemented populations with behaviors.

Worked with programmers to update tools for development needs.

Maintained scripts to only execute procedures when mission conditions were met.

Designed and requested art assets for populated areas for interaction and immersion.

Have to remember. Sony is in bed with Rockstar. I would not be shocked at some sort of exclusivity on the console side for them. Maybe DLC or timed exclusivity for GTAV next gen.
