Mafia III

Mafia 2 had a great atmospheric feel to it. But as far as shooting goes, Mafia 1 was just outstanding and felt quite authentic in comparison to the popamole shooting by staying glued to a wall than freely run from cover to cover, as in Mafia 1 and be a man to face against the shotgun wielding enemies, focusing on their reload timings to shoot him. Basically, as a Mafia 1 player I found M2 combat crap. Why should it be compared to Saints row, or any other game when Mafia 1 does it better than both? I just want them to return to that classic, authentic style of the combat and further improve it w/o dumbing it down for AAA audience. Health regen in a game where period realism matters simply disgusts me and breaks the immersion.

And you can't possibly believe Mafia 1's shooting was more authentic. The reloading was more realistic, but in every other aspect Mafia 2 was better.
I didn't mean to say "was more authentic" than how you "felt" the shooting quite authentic in the way you play them out.

In Mafia 1

-- The enemies didn't just stick to cover but tried to run from one point to another when possible to nail you down by getting closer for taking shots at you giving a much added tension to the shootouts, esp. when you see someone holding a Tommy gun or shotgun literally makes you want to count every bullet you shoot and without any sh*tty health regen system.

-- Each time Tommy takes a hit it slows him down in pain. If this isn't realistic then I don't know what is.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed Mafia 1 combat and equally believable opponents.

Then next time try to choose a better choice of words :^:

Lemoyne outlaw

im excited i loved mafia 2. since its set in the 60s or 70s they should have some vietnam missions. i know some people might think that its too much like vitos mission but maybe one of the playable protags was a vet. i also hope we get cameo appearences from mafia 2 characters. i would like to know what happened to vito and most of all joe. or do you think they will make it so we will have to guess the ending? cant wait to see the trailer.

I corrected your choice of words which I never used it.

I don't understand what you're saying, but whatever. We both expressed our opinions.

But what i have said is true, and the story of mafia 2 like gta v and even worst it was horribly short compared to other games with some plotholes in it (as far as i remember),and you weren't even considered from the mob you, were a hired gun all time in the game. (except near the ending i guess)

What? Not considered for the Mob? Do you know how the mob works? Mafia 2 had The Made man ceremony which pretty much makes you a full member of the mob...

Getting made is a very big deal in the Mafia...

Misunderstood

I don't think Mafia 2 is overrated at all. Most people who play the game admit it has a good amount of flaws but it's still an enjoyable game. The story and characters were interesting and the gameplay was solid in most areas. Gunfights actually felt really intense in Mafia 2.

Yeah but that's near the end,i have said that.and as far as i remember after you become a guy from the mafia you won't do much for it.

Edit:Correct me if i was wrong pls,i say this because i think mafia 2 wasn't deep mafia game like mafia 1.

i think it's overrated NOW,back then it was underrated, the fact the lots of people wants mafia 3 become more like mafia 2 makes this game overrated,i mean how many amount of flaws do you need to say this game wasn't that great?.

All Mafia 3 needs to do is play more like GTA meaning more openworld freedom less linear restrictions that's what pretty much ruined Mafia II they gave us this large detailed city that we couldn't explore. This is a new team developing it so it's a fresh set of eyes to work on the series and these guys are veterans so they know what they are doing.

It wasn't. You are absolutely right!

I, myself, amazed by Mafia 2 fan followings for reasons that I simply found making more sense in case of Mafia 1 ( better story, period details about the setting, free ride mode, more open ended missions than Mafia 2, Better Police and Enemy AI, Realism, etc ) than the former.

For the most part, M2 is more cutscene driven, linear campaign with the better parts for you to enjoy the kind of gameplay we had seen in Mafia 1, far less and unintetesting.

Basically, its the atmosphere that I loved the most but even then I don't think it deserves any more appreciation than Mafia 1 should be getting when we are talking about the factors outside graphics.

Even combat in Mafia 1 was way superior than M2 but each to its own, I guess.

I still like the story tho,i just find it short like V

And i might mislead by saying it's not as deep as mafia 1,it is still a mafia game BUT not as mafia 1

I think the story was more about risen a man to be a mobster than an actual mafia things, even if it had some mafia things, you know what i'm talking about??

And again i still find the game to be enjoyable despite it issues, but it won't last long, and i just hate people overrating things or making it either great or bad game.

I for one am ecstatic, 2K check isn't developing it and the concept seems cool.

Bring on the 5th!

I really wish this series was in the hands of Rockstar. I have trust issues with this Hangar 13 company.

I don't. I would prefer the Mafia series to remain the wonderfully story-driven game that it has demonstrated to be, and not get turned into a giant money sucking multiplayer piece of garbage plagued by micro transactions.

Cheers!

As far as I know, Hangar 13 studio is a successor to 2K Czech studio and the all staff, or at least the core ones, were located to the new studio, many of whom are former Mafia developers. It's like Rockstar shutting down Rockstar San Diego, open another studio and call it Room 13 and all former staff get relocated. End of story!

No,2K has 8 studios (including it 2K Sports and 2K Play publishing labels) while Rockstar Games have 7 studios (formerly 10,but 3 shut-down,infact Vancouver technically is still around it only merged with Toronto) making it 15 across both publishing labels of Take-Two Interactive. And the reason

Hangar 13 was created is to increase the amount of studios across both Publishing labels organically and if you remember Irrational Games also shut-down that same year (hopefully it getting revive in some way maybe in-name only or with a new studio head) during when the Hangar 13 trademark was being filed. I think both Publishing subsidiaries only does that to cut-costing for their parent company, Take-Two Interactive nothing more afterall they ended the recent quarter with $1.1 billion in cash on hand and CEO Strauss Zelnick is eyeing both Expansion plans (acquisitions of more game studios, powerful IPs or vice versa) and investment in organic growth-with both Publishing subsidiaries creating more studios or expanding existing ones.So no, 2K Czech like Marin is still active and both will be focus on different projects or co-producing/assisting with other 2K Studios and that including future Bioshock Games which will now be handled by 2K Marin and like i said previously 2K Czech is also assisting Hangar 13 in making Mafia 3.

There are many more free roam activities

I loved Mafia games, first one is probably the most realistic GTA clone ever (you could only carry up to two large weapons and five small weapons, you would get a ticket for speeding, running red lights or crashing,if a cop saw you commit a crime you could kill him before he would report you to the station and give you wanted level, you would run out of fuel if you drive for too long without refueling,if you shot only a few rounds and then reloaded the gun you would waste all the other bullets you had in that magazine...),and while the second one was less realistic,it still had some realistic features (hubcaps would fall off in high speed driving, you could get rid of wanted level by bribing the cops,if you shoot up some store or bar and return later, there would be cops inside asking witnesses about what happened,if your car got too damaged it would break down and you could fix it...).

I hoped motorcycles would be added in Mafia 2,part of it was set in the 50s when bikes became more of a mainstream mode of transport,so they could have made some members of the greasers gang ride some bobber bike and make some civilians occasionally ride some classic Harley Davidson or Indian.I hope they put a few bikes in the third game.

I wouldn't wish for that. I actually have trust issues with Rockstar and they'd make SP boring and multiplayer focused ;)

Well, there's a possibility there could be biker gangs, if the game is set in the 70s, then we have the Vietnam war, after the war ended many biker gangs formed, of course they were only in early stages, so it would be unrealistic for Mafia 3 to have a big biker gang like modern day Hells Angels etc. But we can speculate and hope.

True. I don't want a "Mafia Online". The single player experience is one of the things that made Mafia 2 one of my favorite games

Apparently from the comming trailer.

They f*cked up the logo.

COME ON!!

Nah. Since its apparently set in the 60s/70s a change of the font and logo makes sense imo. I like both equally tbh. Although the old one has more "personality". (lol @ discussing the game logo  )
