So what was your favorite District to take over? I liked taking Tickfaw Harbor and Southdowns from Frank Pagani and Tommy Marcano just because of the whole Cuban connection. They ran rackets from Cuba and hearing them talk about the situation there was pretty interesting.

 

Also Pointe Verdun just because that whole situation between Burke and Roman Barbieri was too funny. Burke calls him over and tells him to come to his place so they can settle their problem once and for all.

Not much as favourite to take over, but rather who should I assign it to.

 

Vito: Downtown went to him because it seemed like a location for a Italian mobster to take over. And Carlo Falcone had a place in downtown Empire Bay.

Southdowns also went to him as it was more or less Italian influenced neighbourhood, with bars and restaurants and that momma something bakery.

River Row, obviously.

 

Cassandra: Delray Hollow, as a default. Barclay Mills since it was bordering the Hollow and she can have a industrial area. And French Ward seemed natural.

 

Burke: Pointe Verdun. Tickfaw Harbor with all those car chop shops, import/export seemed as an extension of his business with cars and his scrapyard. And Frisco Fields went to him since it was the only one left and I wanted to split it even. Also there was an Irish guy in that motel there selling PCP.

It's frustrating that when you call for the hit squad you can't travel with them by car. I tried that before and they just walked away.

 

Should be like the homies in San Andreas and the backup in GTA IV where they go with you no matter what unless they die.

Those are homies and obviously will follow CJ because Grive4Life, the respect system and such. Its more like a family.

According to the M III guide, Those are hit men, a.k.a, paid contract killers not private bodyguards that will follow Lincoln wherever the player wants them to go. They remain loyal to the boss ( vito, right? ) they are working for, and based on three tier level system covering the cost for upgrading the squad, which I find it better and straightforward than the only way to get backup in IV is to get Dwayne's relationship to 75% or higher, which requires tedious exercise of hanging out first and foremost and only then he will send the backup on request, and how many?

Just 2 gang members to assist you. How cute!

Gotta love how the point completely flew over your head just so you could use it as an excuse to shoehorn in one of your boring and predictable GTA IV bashes.:/

 

And quite ftankly if the guide says they're hit men or Vito's personal gardeners it's a pretty stupid system if you pay for them and they just disband like idiots simply for trying to drive them. Takes away from a lot of opportunities for repeated use in game play.

 

The excuse they're loyal to Vito doesn't fly with me.

Why would you want hit men to follow Lincoln once their job of protecting him is done? They did what they were paid for. Besides, the way those gang members followed Niko was also problematic. ( See: How to send back Dwayne's backup goons? ). Even in SA you can disband the gang, but in IV the gang members become a liability and annoying for reasons linked above.

IV got it wrong by using the perk as an excuse for man date purposes which doesn't feel authentic unlike how M III handles it. Well seeing as I'm the player maybe I want the hit men to follow Lincoln so I don't have to keep calling them up a few seconds later to use them again anyway?

 

There should be a command to tell them to go because as long as I've paid for them they're required for how long I need them for.

 

But that wasn't my real point. The problem I have with the system is they won't follow Lincoln into any car he drives. They just walk off for no reason.

According to the perk description, Hit Squad- A team of shooters will show up to even the odds against the opposition. So, I don't see why should they follow Lincoln if the player has called for armed backup only to take down the opposition?

Once the opposition has been wiped out then it makes sense why they don't follow you because Lincoln no longer needs their services unless the player calls ( and pays ) for it, again.

 

If you are talking about a senario where you call a hit squad, even when you aren't facing any opposition but want them to follow Lincoln in a car then I can understand why they don't follow your orders because they are programmed to target any opposition present around the area of contact.

If you simply want them to follow you in a car and take them to the location of your choice before facing the opposition then it doesn't sound wrong either, and makes a good case to recommend the developers for programming their AI to allow that possibility, in future.

Of course they should follow you into a car to go to a location to face some opposition. That's why I called them in the first place before the A.I decided to go awol and made me waste $3000.

 

It needs to be fixed ASAP.

 

However moving off that subject now I'm not sure exactly what the latest patch fixed on PS4, but has anyone been experiencing some weird graphical/detail issues more than normal? I was driving in the rain and I swear the entire cycle went from day to night atleast 10 times.

 

I hope the technical issues with this game gets fixed promptly. It really makes it feel cheap despite the amazing production value.

Burke: Barclay Mills, Frisco Fields, Pointe Verdun (something poetic in giving Burke the North ;) )

Vito: River Row, Southdowns, Tickfaw (basically giving Vito the docks and waterfront enterprise. He seems to like that :p)

Casandra: Delray Hollow, Downtown, French Ward (Kind of funny watching scruffy Haitians Downtown but I like the idea of them controlling the French Ward, maybe they'll infuse some Haitian/Voodoo culture in the area.

I agree. I can understand the sentiment that they are a hit squad, rather than Lincoln's underlings - but they are employed to violently assist with criminal enterprise, rather than merely showing up and shooting enemies that are close by.

 

As such, it should be a time based type of ordeal, where they accompany us for 3-5 minutes.

 

Aside from that - why shouldn't we have thugs available for recruitment. Sure, they don't need to be display the same technical prowess reserved for professional hitmen, but it would give us a greater sense of power and control.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but it seems the ending depends on

 

which district you give to each underboss.

My first playthrough Vito rules everything, but somehow in my second it was Cassandra.

 

 

 

 

 

I'm trying to figure out which district that makes the difference :D

Mine is pretty spread out neatly. Cassandra got the West. Vito got the central. Burke got the East.

im at the point where i gave tickfaw to burke, downtown vito and barclay to cass. but too me the more i progress this story the less i like cass or burke, kinda wish i gave everything to vito. What i will do with the other 3 districts is give french ward to vito, split southdowns between burke and vito and split frisco with cass and vito

The lack of fast travel is really starting to become apparent, especially during Burke's side mission "I.R.A., Don't Ask". Having to drive from one side of the map to get a vehicle, drive back, rinse and repeat.

I feel as if driving is just a form of filler content, similar to Mafia II, in which they include excessive amounts of it in order to make the game longer than it should be.

yea i agree because there are so many types of weapons to choose from. if you want a sniper you have to take away your assault rifle. and yea i hope custimization comes soon its sorely needed. does anyone know how it will work? do they open up clothes store or do you buy it from the gun van? also i was thinking about doing a new playthrough but i dont want to lose my beaten game. what happens when you hit new game does it erase my game or can i have two seperate slots?

As much as I like this game I'm seriously thinking about selling it, there are only 2 districts to be taken over but damn is it repetitive.

I expected Mafia III to be on par with a Rockstar title quality wise because I read that Take 2 wanted this to be their GTA while Rockstar was busy working on the real GTA but damn it feels like an Ubisoft title. It's a damn shame because the combat and driving are mighty solid.

Someone did it earlier. He said only one slot available. You can just back your completed save like I would do later.

And it would have been better to be able to assign a district to your own gang instead of those lazy bosses. But i haven't played the game yet so idk ... Btw what happened to the rest of the black mob Lincoln was originally in?

The Black Mob cease to exist after the leader Sammy is killed, without spoiling it to much a gang called the Dixie Mafia take over the district.

The game looks so beautiful and captures the time and place so perfectly. I haven't come across before such a dark, gritty feel of the world in a video game.

everything is so clear now cars don't have a white outline as they did before the patch :lol:
