I'm still hoping this will be a true mafia game, with you being a member and having the associated perks based on your rank in the family. It's much to hope for, but that's what I'd like to see. Mafia 2 was pretty disappointing in the since, when you became made, nothing really changed or mattered.

Exactly. Take the gameplay premise of Godfather 2 with the story of the mafia games; add a little bonus like family rank perks and you'd have a winner.

You never know,isn't the witcher 3 has more than 1 character to control with in some certain events in the game???

 

And i think multi protagonists is a very good idea,you may think it's bad,but you will suddenly think it's good if it wasn't gta v.

The only issue with V that it was horribly short.

God help us all.

 

I'm really excited for the setting, I loved it from the moment that casting call leaked and I was afraid it wouldn't come true. There isn't that many games fully set in the Deep South. Infamous 2, AC Liberation, L4D2 and that's about it, right? I also wish for them to continue in Mafia II's tradition and cover both 60's and 70's, but this time with map changing accordingly. I would gladly take smaller map if it was more dynamic instead.

I would welcome Mafia III with Mafia Online based on microtransactions and in-game economy to buy endless amount of 60s and 70s styled clothes, cars, remodeled weapons and other pointless cosmetics. These would be more fun, engaging and good for business than a comprehensive and well-thought-out single player campaign with a high replay value. Why give you a good story full of intriguing characters when I can give you some random online sh*t to promote your youtube channel and tell us to subscribe by showing off your unfunny stunts and glitches, or even your new hipster clothes?

I've never played the Mafia series, although I've read some good reviews on the first two.

 

I do hope however, that the game isn't dumbed down and that it stays true for the time period it is set in.

 

Nevertheless, the 70's era has got me hyped already!

This will be true test what they can do without Vavra (unless he came back) and let's hope it will end better than the last time. Not only they weren't sure if they should make story driven linear game (Mafia II) or some kind of arcade title (all of the add-ons), but they also should be ashamed for selling for full price title cut so much.

 

Let's hope they learned from their mistakes and make a good title, worthy name of the first game in the series. This time I won't be preordering it though, but that doesn't mean I won't keep my eye on it.

I don't even expect this to be anything like Mafia I, or anything old Illusion Softworks would make, at all. I wouldn't be surprised that with Take Two in complete control, it'll be full open sandbox. More GTA IV and Sleeping Dogs than classic Mafia. But I don't mind. As you said, Mafia II suffered from a bit of an identity crisis thanks to the original developers' vision clashing with TT's, so having a clear idea and direction for the game, whatever it may be, will instantly help it. It might be different, but that doesn't mean bad.

It seems that it's a completely new studio without any portfolio, so it's rather hard to expect something from them. But since totally fresh studios could make a groundbreaking title, it may be worth to wait.
